“Are you waiting for someone? Or are you going somewhere?” Moon turned his head again to face the stranger who gave him so much more comfort than he could have ever wished for already. Their eyes met, but none of the two had the urge to look away. They just kept looking at each other’s eyes and lost themselves in the feelings they were holding back.
“My friend works here and we wanted to have lunch together. But he just texted me that he can’t make it.”
“It’s not very nice of him to make you come here and then not having time for you,” Moon sighed and was the reason the guy started smiling. That was exactly what he was thinking, but he felt like a bad friend because of those thoughts. His friend should have known that he wasn’t going to have enough time to eat lunch with him earlier. He should have told him sooner, shouldn’t have made him come to the airport to have a meal with him just to tell him he wasn’t free in the end. The least his friend could have done was finding time for him. But a part of him was also glad his friend couldn’t make it. Because only thanks to that, he got to meet this sympathetic guy.
“At least he was honest and didn’t make up any excuses,” he tried to stay positive, to think of the great personality traits of his friend. “And I have nothing to do anyway. So I can just go out and eat alone now.”
“Well, then I don’t want you to keep starving,” Moon said still smiling, slowly turning away from him, and standing up. The stranger’s eyes widened when he watched the movements of the one next to him. He didn’t want to sound like he wanted to go now. He wanted to stay a little longer and keep this conversation alive. But he was too shy to clear up this misunderstanding and explain his unexplainable thoughts about why he wanted to stay with him longer. Why he had sat down right next to this stranger when he had no one to wait for in the first place. So he just let him go. He let this wonderful person go because he was too scared. Too scared to make good memories.
Moon imagined it. He got lost in his imagination while he was walking away from the stranger whose name he didn’t even know. He escaped this reality to live in a better, a perfect dream. A dream that could have changed everything if only it had become reality.
Only seconds after Moon had stood up and had walked away from the one who was still sitting on the seat, someone ran after him and matched their pace with Moon’s. They walked next to each other now and were almost as close as they had been moments ago sitting on those two seats. “Would you mind,” the same calming voice spoke to Moon and he felt this beautiful pair of eyes on his body once again, “would you mind eating lunch with me?” Moon couldn’t explain what was going on inside of him or why it was so easy for him to trust this stranger. He couldn’t explain his feelings. Maybe that’s what everyone had always meant when they had tried to explain to him what it means to love. That love cannot be explained. That everyone experiences love differently, but once you love and are loved, you know it.
Moon turned his head to the stranger and smiled at him, “I would love to.” The stranger smiled back at him, he was happy about the positive answer he had gotten. For a few seconds, nothing happened. They just continued to walk next to each other, to smile brightly while their eyes were attached to one another’s.
The stranger was the first one to ignore the intense feelings building up in his chest at least enough to not just stare at Moon’s eyes quietly. His eyes wandered over the beautiful dressed boy’s body and fixed on the big suitcase Moon was rolling next to him between their two bodies. The suitcase was the only thing distancing the two of them and he wanted to get rid of it right away to get even closer. Without hesitation, he grabbed the suitcase to carry it himself and take this weight from the other one. His warm hand touched Moon’s cold skin when he took the suitcase from Moon making Moon flinch. He didn’t expect this kind of warmth, this kind of feeling on his skin. He was surprised to be touched like that and although his cheeks blushed and his heart started beating faster, he pulled his hand away immediately. “Let me carry it for you,” the stranger said with a soothing voice making Moon’s legs go weak and his heart beat faster. Just those few words alone calmed him down again in a way he had never felt before. Sometimes, it would take hours for him to get over a sudden and not-wanted touch. But not this time. Not with him. Maybe Moon could love him. Maybe Moon could be loved. Maybe Moon could find his happiness in that stranger’s heart. Even though he might never see him ever again, Moon started believing again. He started believing in something he hadn’t believed in for so long. He started believing in love again slowly.
