Jade and Nico looked at each other for about a minute, awkward silence.
“Soo...you witnessed my dad’s….death?” asked Jade slowly, breaking the silence.
“I-i guess?” responded Nico, awkwardly shrugging his shoulders.
They looked at each other again, still processing what was going on. After about another minute of awkward silence and staring, Nico pulled out his phone and started scrolling through his photos. He pulled up a photo of himself ( judging on the photo, he looked young ) standing with a man ( who looked like his dad ), a random lady, a random little girl, and a dog ( who looked similarly to Blacky who, by the way, was looking at them through messy fur ). Jade took a look at the photo, trying to get what Nico was showing her. As soon as she saw the dog she knew what the photo was: A picture of Nico at a funeral- her dad’s funeral. Jade looked at him, rubbed her forehead, then slowly said,
“So...so let me get this straight…You were driving- I mean you’re dad was driving-”
Nico gave her a ‘bruh’ look.
“-and you saw the landslide that...killed my dad. You casually- well probably not casually- but you… knew my dad’s fam, and went to his funeral?”
“Well we didn’t know your family, but the police told us about your dad’s family, and we felt bad so we went to his funeral,” corrected Nico.
“Oh, okay,” continued Jade, “So anyway, after you went to the funeral you moved to Ohio then I moved to Ohio then we live across from each other and go to the SAME FLIPPIN HIGH SCHOOL?!”
“Uh…….ya.”
They looked at each other, again [ bro I’m running out of ideas, I don’t want this chapter to be too short ]. They both turned to look at the door when Jade’s mom ( mUMMy ) told them it’s time to eat.
“COMING!!!” yelled Jade, getting up.
They went downstairs to find some pasta and salad on the table. They ate until they were too full, and Jade’s mom told Jade to clean the dishes ( unperks of being 16 ). Jade nodded while her mom went to get ready for bed, even though it was only 7:30. Jade went ahead and washed the dishes. Nico and Jade were still a little shocked about their childhood, so it was somewhat awkward for them to talk to each other; even though they were best-best-best-best-best-best-best friends.
When Jade was done washing the dishes, she went to the living room and set up a movie. She and Nico watched the movie together, binge watching a movie series and eating lots o food. When they were done watching the movie series ( about, what, 2-3 times? ), it was 2:30. Jade got up to go to bed, when she realized that Nico had dozed off.
“Oh, come on,” sighed Jade.
Nico was sleeping on the bigger couch, so Jade attempted to carry him to the smaller couch. Of course, she couldn’t. So she ended up rolling him off the bed then rolling him bit-by-bit onto the smaller couch. She put the blanket on him, then got onto the bigger couch. She rested her head on the arm-rest, and pulled the blanket up to under her nose. She snuggled with the blanket, and eventually fell asleep.
Jade woke up the next morning. It was Saturday and sunny. She looked around and saw Nico still sleeping on the couch. Jade yawned and looked on the dining table, where 2 steaming omelets were set. She got out of the bed and walked over to her room, where she changed into her normal clothes. She went to the bathroom and washed her face, then walked over to her mom.
“Hey honey, I’m finally up before you,” Jade’s mom said, grinning.
“Heh, yeah,” Jade said, half-asleep with large eye bags from lack of sleep, “Should I wake up Nico?”
“Sure, if you want to.”
Jade grabbed 2 forks from the cabinet, laid them next to the plate of omelet, and went to wake up Nico. She leaned over him, but he didn’t wake up. She poked him. She poked him again. She pushed him into the cushions.
“WAKE UP BOI!!!!” yelled Jade, waking up Nico.
Well he ended up smacking her shoulder ( nice reflects bro ), and they both fell over.
“Whoops, sorry,” apologized Nico, giving Jade a hand.
“It’s ok,” smiled Jade, taking Nico’s hand.
He pulled her up, and they gave each other a look; then quickly looked away.
“There’s omelets on the table,” mumbled Jade, pointing at the dining table.
Nico nodded, and they both went to eat breakfast.
