-…Aki, where have you been for so long? – he again whispered. 

I really didn’t know what he was talking about so I decided to just ignore his blabbering, when suddenly he grabbed my hand and that shit startled me to death! I literally got so shocked that I screeched and my voice was heard all over the place. Don’t know how he didn’t wake up after that sound but I was worried about my hand. Tried to pull it out but it was useless! His grip was really strong… how can a patient in this state be this strong?! At the end I failed all attempts of trying to get free. 

His strength is something mysterious. And his heart rate is now much lower than it was earlier… This smells fishy, no not the fish that I had for lunch today. Something is odd but I don’t get it, maybe he is just dying?? But that’s impossible! Last time we had a patient who was dying in almost similar condition wasn’t even breathing on his own anymore. What if he is an alien…? WHAT IF THIS GUY CALLS HIS FRIENDS AND THEY KIDNAP ME AND IMPLANT A CHIP IN MY BRAINS!?!?... Well I can be overly dramatic sometimes hehe. Still I don’t know what superpower this is but my hand is kind of turning blue and this can’t be a good sign. 

Hmm what if I hit him with chair and his grip gets a bit less hurtful? No that’s inhumane. WAIT I KNOW! That’s it – laughing gas! I just need to change his breathing mask on nitrous oxide so his muscles will loosen up a bit. Working with one hand only is difficult and very inconvenient! But it was a great success, though I couldn’t totally weaken his muscles to free my hand, still I was able to loosen up it a bit so it won’t hurt me. Because it was literally turning blue and I couldn’t even feel my hand anymore! Now, what am I going to do tonight… I can’t go home but I can’t stay awake all night either. I need to sleep so I can find out more about this superpower and Aki-san. 

I sat on chair that was next to his bed. Super uncomfortable chair without back support and with wooden surface… My poor butt that has to endure this circus for the rest of the night. He was holding my hand like a baby who is scared to let go his parents hand. I put my head on this spot next to him that wasn’t occupied by his body. His hands were really cold. So cold that even my hands were absorbing all of that icy frost. I couldn’t stay awake anymore so I just took off my glasses, put them aside next on the counter, covered myself with spare blanket and slept next to him, holding his freezing ice hand. Tomorrow I have to look up for a lot of stuff…

When I finally closed my eyes I almost immediately fell asleep. I was so tired of all this fuss that my brains even ignored my insomnia, literally telling it "FUCK YOU BITCH! Im too tired for that...". When finally I was knocked out by tiredness, I found myself in a weird dream. And by weird I mean it took place in my university. I woke up from a nap that I always took in past on my table while *ahem* disrespectfully paying no mind to what the professor was talking about. Just as I opened my eyes I noticed Haru-san sitting next to me and reading the book that was in front of him. We were all alone in the room and it was about 5 PM during spring. The sun was bright enough to pass through thick curtains of the cinema room where we usually hid during moring lessons and watched anime together.

Suddenly Haru-san noticed that I woke up. He looked at me and smiled, that bright smile of a handsome, smart, kind guy who helped me to go through lots of stuff. Then he lifted his arm and put his hand on my head. He caressed my hair and asked me:

-Aki-kun how did you sleep?

 

-Good Haru-san...-I replied- Why are you still here?

-I'm here because you were holding my hand so tight I couldnt escape *looks on his hand*

-*Retracts hand quickly* My apologies!

-Haha there is no need to apologise, I didn't mind you holding my hand, I even... beep, beep, BeEp, BEEEEP!!

-...What? - I looked at his face confused.

-BEEP, BEEP, BEEEEEEP!!! - he looked like a robot opening and closing his mouth and crying *BEEP*.

And right at that last *BEEP* I woke up in cold sweat and panic! I thought those beeping sound were from my dream but in fact those were coming out of heart rate monitor of our patient. I noticed that the heart rate is extremely low and it was warning us about that. His hand was still cold and I could barely feel any more pressure. His face was pale and it was alarming. I didn't know what to do. The only thing that i can do is to inject adrenaline shot. BUT DAMMIT his heartrate was too low - almost zero!  I checked his breathing and he was still breathing normally which was the most confusing!

In no time his heart stopped. Beepingg sound intensified. It was all around the room and was echoing in corridors of hospital. I was lost and in that exact moment Niko entered the room! She looked at me with a shock on her face and panic in her voice. I told her to bring in the defiblirator close to the bed so we can perform a defibrillation on him. While I was moving from one place to another in great panic Niko was distracted with the guys face. She was looking at him as if she knew him. I didn't know what was happening so I called her name and told her to concentrate on the main issue we had laying on the gurney without heartbeat.

After struggling for a good while, we failed to bring back his heartbeat. Beeping sound was all over the room, echoing in our heads and it was bothering me and Niko-kun a lot. I was standing in the middle of the room with defiblirator in my hands, sweat running all over my face and dropping on floor, while we watched at the heartrate monitor in silent horror... He was breathing, his brains were showing activity but his heart didn't beat at all... In 10 years of practice this was the first time I have witnessed something so mysterious. 

Breathing heavily and panting, while holding defiblirator in my hands, with terror on my and Niko-kuns face we looked at each other and realized, we either killed this guy or we performed some kind of black magic on him. He was alive but dead at the same time! And this was dangerous because if other doctors weho enter the room notice that our guy doesn't have a heartbeat but is still alive... that, would bring a huge scandal... 

All of a sudden the door from ward opened and head doctor of hospital rushed in with furious face. I could literally sense that something is going on but I was too scared of the situation. I looked at the heart monitor and then at Niko-kun and tried to explain her with a glance to stand in front of the monitor so the doctor won't notice the absence of heartbeat. The doctor looked at us then told me that there is a policeman in his room and that they are here to question us about this guys case. At that moment I think I peed my pants hehe~ You think I'm crazy? Yes I am!

I left the ward with head doctor leaving Niko-kun alone in the room with our guy. I was worried for her more than I was worried for myself, because she is a scaredy cat and she can easily fall into great fucking panic whenever something minor occurs. While walking through corridors of hospital that were full of people I was wondering what is going to happen and when they will arrest me. Just this thought was sending shivers all over my body... When we arrived to the head doctors office, a police officer was already sitting there with his assistant. I looked at him and our eyes locked. He immediately popped up from the chair like a champagne cap and introduced himself.

-Good morning Akira-san, my name is Kenji-san and this is my assistant Goro-san! We are here to question you about Haru Miuras case, if we are not wrong he is your patient right?

-...Haru Miura? - who is Haru Miura and why I dont know about that guy?!

-Yes Akira-san, the case with drunken showdown, burrial of Haru-san and so on. Isn't he the patient you were treating this few days? - all this time I was treating HARU MIURA?!
