Karma(Vigilante Deku)

Chapter 2: The boy in the corner. Part 2

Chapter 2: The boy in the corner. Part 2

Nov 03, 2021

"Detective Tsukauchi please come take a look over here."

Abandoning the single bloody word spelled out on the ground, the detective went over to join his colleague where he stood.

The detective found this case rather interesting but somewhat confusing. They had established that this was a site of child trafficking but they were yet to be able to determine the causes of all the deaths.

Making it over to his colleague he stopped walking and inspected the corner of the room he was currently stood. Nothing really caught his eye, there were some signs that someone had sat there for a while but other than that he didn't see anything out of place. But then he saw it, he saw the tiny strand of green hair laying on the floor. If it wasn't for the fact that it was green it probably would have gone unnoticed but out of all the files of the recently brought in children their was no one who had green hair. That only further confirmed their suspicions that their really was another child.

In one of the files he found a specific amount of children was stated. It was the amount from the group who had recently been kept hostage in the warehouse but the individual files didn't line up with that number, there was still one missing. Not to mention that the words 'dead' had been written on the file of a little girl who's corpse was found laying on the floor. There were also files on all the people who were working their and their corpses all added up so whoever wrote it must have survived. There was only one real explanation for this case, it must have been a kid with green hair who had killed them all except that solution still didn't add up.

The files also mentioned quirks. Inspecting all the corpses closer they could see that they were killed using many different kinds of quirks, the same quirks belonging to the corpses. They all could have killed each other but by the arrangement of bodies he could tell that the attack must have happened in waves, so it made no sense that a man who was already dead had used his quirk to kill another. That could have been the boys quirk though, to manipulate the dead but that wouldn't explain why they all tried to kill each other. The boys quirk could have made them kill each other but then it wouldn't make sense for a dead man to use his quirk against others. This case had to many holes, to many questions, questions which could only be determined by the identity of the final child.

The detective took the hair strand, putting it in a zip lock bag. The strand of hair might have been able to reveal the child's identity but he knew it would be hard without a name. He put that matter aside and went back over to the word spelt out on the floor in blood, it bothered him. He got the feeling that this was the start of a whole new problem in the future.

____

In modern day Japan thanks to All Might criminal activity has decreased significantly compared to other countries. But that doesn't stop the increase of child trafficking cases. As quirks mix resulting in children having stronger quirks as the generations go by, more and more kids have been kidnapped and sold off. The children are always specifically targeted leading some to believe that there is a spy giving information from the quirk registration services, but since there's no proof nothing has been done about that. In this modern day society crime has decreased but if your child has been kidnapped no one expected to get them back. Any child was lucky to make it past the age of 6.

The child trafficking cases have only grown yet the so called hero's who are ment to protect and save the citizens of the country do nothing. Although it's not like some of them want to do nothing it's just that they can't do anything. It is almost impossible to get any information about trafficking cases which means the investigation always leads to a dead end. The hero's are incapable of tracking down theses children so a new hero of the people appeared, a hero who specialises on trafficking cases, Karma.

Karma is a hero to the people though he is anything but to the corrupt government leading the country. It is believed by some that many of the people in the government are involved with child trafficking in some way, whether that means selling or buying them. It makes sense or else the government wouldn't be trying so hard to get rid of the vigilante who has caused child trafficking cases to significantly decrease.

Not much information is known about the vigilante Karma including the nature of his quirk, but it has been confirmed that he was a victim of the child trafficking incident nearly 9 years ago when several people were found dead in a warehouse. It has been confirmed that the vigilante is male with green hair but that's as much as anyone knows. The police had tried to look for a missing persons report from 10 years ago to see if they could figure out Karma's identity but came to the conclusion that he was either an orphan or neglected since their was none fitting his description ever made.

____

It was night and the full moon was out, it would have been a peaceful view almost romantic if it wasn't for the fact that the vigilante was viewing it from the roof of enemy territory.

He was yet to be spotted as he jumped into the open and quietly made his way to the back entrance of an abandoned factory which had the least people guarding it. The boy had mastered the art of sneaking around while growing up, it proved very useful when searching for files.

Arriving at the back entrance he was met with two guards who immediately went to attack. He easily put them both out of commission for a while then made his way through the door. Opening the door his heart lept when he saw that he was surrounded by atleast 50 men all standing there aiming their guns at him. Before Karma could even register what was happening he was bombarded by gun shots in every single direction.

The gun shots seized ater a few moments and silence took over. The ambushers set down their guns and waited for the mist to clear so they could go confirm the vigilante was dead, they didn't get the chance though cause as soon as they let down their gaurd they were all embraced in a layer of electricity instantly knocking them all out. Karma walked through them unscathed leaving a pile of bullets behind him as he went. He retracted his nails and effortlessly made his way to the room the children were being kept in.

The children were trapped in a room devoided of any windows, Karma's footsteps the only noise. They rang throughout the room and the children's unease could be seen on their faces as he got closer. Three more men jumped out at him in different directions and without breaking a sweat Karma knocked two out but left one just barely conscious. One person was all he needed after all.

"Your boss is the only one who knows where the files are right."Karma was holding the guy by the scruff of his neck now, the man tried to squirm out of his grip but didn't have the energy to do so.

Giving up on trying to escape the man said, "There's no way in hell I'd answer that."

Karma sighs and lets the man down. The man collapses to the floor, his legs betraying him and giving out. "You don't need to answer, I can read your memories, I just need to find your boss."

"Even if you can read my memories that won't help you if I was never told." He wore a triumphant smile on his face but his shaking gave away his true feelings.

"Why do u think I kept all of you alive." The man's smile dropped enticing Karma's lips to slightly curl upwards in response. "Which means I don't need you anymore. It would be a shame for your wife and kids if you die so I'll be sure to compensate them."

Suddenly the lights turned off and a scream echoed throughout the room. Not a minute later the lights had turned back on again and a dead body lay shoved into a corner of the room way out of the children's sight.

Karma turned to the children and his previous smirk turned into a gentle smile to reassure the kids. "Everything is fine now, you'll all go home soon. Once I find your files I'll call the police."

"A-are you Karma?" One of the children stuttered, tears pricking their eyes. He nods and the child's tears turn into a full on sob as some others join in.

Karma smiles, the innocent tears of joy warming his heart. "If you want to get saved, no matter what the circumstance you must not move from where your sat." The children agree and Karma walks out the room dragging the two unconscious men with him.

He makes it back to the room of his ambush where he sets the men down and starts waking them one by one to look through their memories.

He had picked up many useful quirks while hunting down child traffickers, one of the many being able to look through people's memories. It was very useful and was one of the three quirks he limited himself to using, the only setback being that it puts a strain on his eyes when he uses it to much. The quirk could only work on humans and when they were conscious, when he first got the quirk it was impossible to control, he would just randomly be looking through people's memories which would have made him crazy if he hadn't isolated himself.

Another one of his three main quirks was nail based. His nails took on different properties depending on the colour or pattern. It had taken a while for Izuku to realise that the quirk worked by injecting a liquid which meant he could make whole new patterns, in other words meaning the quirks possibilities are endless. Although the quirk converts his energy to make the liquids so if he uses it to much it would make him tired. It wasn't just good at short range it could also be used for long range attacks by inserting his nails into the ground. The quirk was rather op, it would have been a hard quirk to go against if he had a normal quirk but he had a suspicion that his own quirk was what made the ones he took so strong.

Some of the things the quirk can do is heal-white, but it was more like a reload since it brought his body back to a previous state. It can also electrocute-yellow, increase the temperature of your blood-red, reduce the temperature of your blood-blue, become as hard as steel-grey and then black was a poison which the only antidote is the healing aspect of the quirk. There's many more, some useful and some not and some he hasn't even tried out yet.

His final main quirk is a type of force field. It isn't a normal force field and he can't control it. It activates automatically whenever he's about to be hit with enough force to kill or mortally wound him. It has it's disadvantages but it was also rather useful, if it wasn't for the fact he just recently got this quirk that ambush would have killed him for sure. It protects him from anything that could kill him though which means if he wanted to end his own life he would be unable to do so, not quickly anyway.

Going through the men Karma killed anyone who didn't know any important information while making a mental note of the ones with families to compensate. Karma didn't have any money but these people made a shit load of it which he would use to compensate the family members of the ones he killed, if they choose to not accept it that was up to them. Karma knew that most of these people had a life and people who would mourn their deaths but he couldn't risk keeping any of them alive for multiple different reasons. He was aware that he had no right to take another's life but they had no right to sell others like objects either, they brought suffering to so many innocent children who hardly know anything about the world.

Karma kept going through men, healing the ones who wouldn't immediately wake up just to kill them straight after. It seemed like none of them were told any useful information about where the boss would be but he soon came upon one guy who had his phone number.

"Call him." Karma instructed and after some slight torture the man happily obeyed.

____

It took some time to find the boss but as soon as he found him everything was easy from there on. He found the files for all the children and put them in his bag. He then looked through the files for the staff and wrote the families of the people he killed on a peice of paper before stuffing it into his pocket. He decided to leave the staff files their, he would tell the police where they were when he called.

Making his way back to the factory he layed the children's files on the floor infront of them and called the police. He told the children to sit tight for a little longer then made his leave but not without writing 'karma' on a wall with the blood of the dead like he always does.

He exited the factory 100% sure that everyone who knew and was involved with the traffickers were dead and made his way to a back alley to change out of his blood stained clothes.

"So you must be Karma." He turns around only half changed and was met with a scruffy looking person staring straight at him. He had messy black hair that went passed his shoulders and wore all black except for the huge scarf that lay on his shoulders and the yellow goggles placed on his face.

"I'm afraid that I'm going to have to arrest you now." The man smiled and Karma's heart dropped.

Since the arrival of All Might crime rates have decreased significantly in Japan, but there's still one problem hero's are unable to do anything about. Corruption in the government has led to the increase of child trafficking, so much so that any child is lucky to not have been kidnapped by the age of 6.

What hero's are unable to do though is easily done by the vigilante Karma, a hero to the people. Unbound by the law he can freely try to put an end to this rein of terror, that is if he doesn't get caught.
