Eijirou always had a weak heart, not only in the metaphorical sense, but also in reality. Spending his childhood in hospitals, he was very shy and reserved, all the way up to his adulthood. Very few friends he had, but strangely enough, the funeral house is packed.
People who know his dad, his brother, his mother; they were all mourning the death of a man they did not know. It was something that Robert just could not understand.
He stood there, looking at people he is seeing for the first time in his life, looking serious and somehow guilty. `I’m so sorry for your loss` is a phrase he despises hearing, were they the ones that killed them? Why are they apologising?
It didn’t matter though, nothing mattered anymore. He was there with dishevelled hair, jeans dirty with paint and a blazer that was too small on him but that’s okay, because the only person who’s opinion mattered to him is now a pile of ash sitting in a small urn at the altar.
The thought made Robert swallow a lump that had been there since he arrived, and he didn’t bother trying to hide the couple of tears that slipped out. Nothing mattered to him anymore.
He looked around once more, not bothering to remember any of the faces, and fixed his gaze on the altar. Kneeling there was a tall man with dark hair, he was wearing a black coat and white socks. He was hunched over a bit, shoulders shaking every few seconds. He was clearly sobbing, but so quietly.
Robert scoffed and turned around. He exited the funeral house, put on his shoes, and walked briskly across the street. He walked for a distance he didn’t bother to calculate, and stopped at a convenient store he didn’t bother to read the name of. He bought a bottle of water, and sat outside.
He thought it was very cliché of him, sitting on a bench at night under a streetlight. But Robert did not bother to care.
A man who works in a kids' nursery and a mangaka, both fall in love with the same man but neither of them will confess. One of them is scared of rejection, and the other has a trauma with same sex relationships.
The man whom they both love dies, and they meet at his funeral.
