I’ve been at The School for three months now.  Thomas and I have been getting to know each other.  He’s not the big, bad, scary guy I thought he was, he’s actually pretty sweet.  I don’t know if it’s because he’s my amplifier, but I really like him.

We’ve been really starting to get in control of my powers.  After we started sharing a room, I often find myself waking up in my flames because of the close proximity of my amplifier, but we’ve been working on it.

I eat with Tilly and Rob everyday, they’ve become close friends of mine.  I go to all my classes everyday, they are pretty enjoyable.  My thoughts don’t float around anymore.  I’ve been more at peace in my mind after meeting Thomas.  

Michael says it’s probably because my powers are so powerful that before they came out, they weren’t just dormant.  Before the energy wave, everybody’s powers were dormant, but mine were being suppressed.  It made my mind go crazy.

My favorite place in the building is definitely the library.  This place isn’t so bad, but I do miss my family.  At least I get to leave when I’m 18 and my powers are under control.

We get new power holders every time we stop.  I learned that we stop at cities and send out the energy wave.  Then some guards go to the ground to round up the power holders and bring them back to the ship.

I could find my way around the ship by myself by now.  At least to the important places, including the library.  I’m going there now, to return a book.

The library was a large, white room.  Amazing wood bookshelves lined the walls, filled with books.  There often wasn’t anybody in here.  Come to think of it, I have never seen a librarian.  How do they shelve the books?  Whatever.

I slip the book into the return slot and start to look around for another book, until I hear a voice behind a shelf.

“Did you get the kids?”

“I did.  This batch was stronger than the last.  The power holders especially.  You did well Michael.”

“I’ve been trying to pick up as many as I can.  I got a new one recently, get this, Thomas is his amplifier.”

“I didn’t think it was possible to find amplifiers anymore after they were wiped out.”

“I didn’t either, but this will make a nice addition.  We will need them when we take down the other power holders.  When they’re gone, we’ll wipe the rest out and there will be no more of those power holders left on this planet.”

“You’re getting ahead of yourself, Michael.  You promised me an army, I promised you a total wipeout.  We need each other’s help in taking down the power holders once and for all.”

“Those foul creatures will get what’s coming for them.”

What on Earth did I just hear?

I got away from there as fast as possible, not even bothering to take a new book.  I needed to get back to Thomas.
