Erica, tell me a tale?

THE HOTEL ROOM

THE HOTEL ROOM

Nov 05, 2021

Goodnight, my dear readers!

I hope everything is okay inside your little room. Today is the same, some insomnia that comes from the back of my mind like ants walking down the street to get its food, that in this case, my mind.

I wish I had more creative words to tell, but getting old is no easy, things just slip by! So let me hurry to tell what I must!

~~~
THE HOTEL ROOM
Paola and Ricardo were traveling after a long period of quarantine, but why together? Clearly their cups were full of each other as Paola said:
- Going out, need some fresh air...
- We've just come back from dinner.
That hotel room was perfect, but all the cleanliness and white walls felt like a prison for the insanes.
As the stars were glooming in the dark sky, few were seem from the small city town, everything felt blurry to her eyes as she wondered about life.
She slowly walked as a sailed ship being guided by the sea breeze to the calming sound of port, but her mind was pure storm and hurricanes.
"I miss my life... I want my life back, all the boring routine to the exciting friend gathering! All the traffic jam to the family sunday's reunion! All the bad and good in life, all the betweens and above and below... I want all! I want to feel complete..."
"Complete... A thing I thought I'd find once I got my prince charming, my soul mate..."
As she looked to the ocean and its waves, coming and going like a lullaby... She saw a small dot:
"Maybe life is a lonely travel to the infinite ocean of incentities..."
Then she saw two dots:
"Maybe life is a walking side by side to a common goal..."
Then three dots:
"Maybe life is creating a family..."
Then two dots disappeared:
"Back again to being lonely..."
Then she got tired of focusing at only one point of the mesmering ocean and looked to the sides and above...
And above her head, there was a stunning canvas, full of dots... That made her feel lost until she saw the moon and from there her eyes travelled the galaxy...
"Maybe life is not only that dot, that final goal, but all the journeys I can have, be it alone or together... Be it a calming night or a rainy day..."
"Maybe life is all the connections I can make, all the decisions, I can't control life, but I can choose which path to take..."
As her hand touched the sky connecting the dots, she drew a strange creature to embrace all her doubts, at least for now.
When she got back to the hotel room, She looked below... Ricardo was sleeping and his pillow was cold to the touch, a nice contrast to his face.
As she understood each one has struggles and Ricardo was also stuck to the prince idea of never crying in front of his wife, showing such fragility is for children, but she was not angry anymore, all her hate dissapated with the wind back there.
"I choose you, at least today... For tomorrow, who knows? Maybe it'll be you who will not choose me..."
She hugged him and both felt that there was another dot to their life and together they chose to face the journey.
THE HOTEL ROOM - THE END
~~~

Sometimes stars die in the sky and we'll never know, such brief is our life here.

I've spent so much energy pursuing a star that I never enjoyed the felling of my feets on the ground.

With love, Erica of the Dawn.

At some point in my journey I claimed myself as a writer because of some small poems I did as a nauty kid who was always locked in the bedroom to reflect upon small mistakes... And locked it remained till my fifthies when I started losing people to life... And not only people, but also myself... I'm geting old and not ready to say goodbye before telling something to someone... Anyone that would read and connect with me. I thought of writing a novel, too bold for my fragile ego, so let's start small, let's me start telling you a tale, a short story, just to warm up my frigid hands.

Welcome to my... My name is Erica... Welcome to my "Erica, tell me a tale?", a collection of short stories about mundane things in life.
