Humans
Mortal
Every human has spiritual powers inside them.
Only a few chosen ones have stronger spiritual powers, which they can learn to control by joining monks in Shrines and using them to help Gods fight against Youkais.
The existence of all Gods depends on human wishes and prayers.
They pray for various Gods by writing down their desires.
Humans are supporting Gods by bringing offerings to local smaller Shrines (monks from the main Shrines come to collect them every day).
Humans who die from violence and have a corrupted soul after death turn into Youkais.
Youkais
Immortals (can be killed only with a huge amount of light spiritual power from Gods or devoured by other Youkais. When killed they turn into ashes.)
Weak Youkais have monster form only; Stronger Youkais can take both human-like forms with animal features, or their monster form.
Different from Humans or Gods, Youkais have dark spiritual powers and feed on light ones.
Weakness: Sunlight burns their skin; incense smell makes them weak; wisteria works like poison.
They don’t need to sleep unless they want to. In day time Youkais usually hide in dark places, such as caves in mountains.
When they feel hunger, their red eyes become brighter.
Stronger Youkais devour weaker ones by drinking their blood to become more powerful.
When Humans turn into Youkai, they can’t choose their features or form, their appearance depends on how much spiritual powers they had.
Youkai’s blood is like acid to other races, their fangs have poison as well.
Gods
Immortals (disappears if humans stop believing in them, can be banished from TEN by Elder Gods after committing a crime, or killed by Youkai’s dark spiritual energy and poison)
Every God has their main shrine, when they are not visiting their shrines, Gods stay at TEN, a.k.a. Heaven or Home of all Gods.
All Gods have their animal form. When they are in human form, Gods can choose to show or hide some animal features such as ears or tails.
They hold the strongest light spiritual powers, which they use for fighting with Youkais and for fulfilling human prayers during the rituals.
For rituals, they use up most of their spiritual powers very painfully and they need at least a few days to recover after it.
Gods hold a lot of powers such as making various spells, protection charms, and barriers. In addition to that, each God holds individual power and a spiritual weapon.
Youkai bites won’t kill them but are extremely poisonous, causing blood contamination.
Gods are rather cold and indifferent towards humans. They are considered superior, and any intimate relationship with humans is not accepted or appropriate. Gods are also not allowed to save humans' lives if they are close to death. Other than fulfilling their prayers, it’s unlikely for Gods to help or interact with humans.
