5 years later…
Jade and Nico left their college, proud and relieved. Jade was 21, and Nico was 22. They were finally done with college. They were still friends, but they both still remembered clearly of the day they realized about their childhood like it was yesterday. Jade pulled out her phone, and texted Nico: want 2 go 2 boba shop rn? He responded: sure, brt. Jade walked to the boba shop and waited. Nico appeared in, like, 5 minutes. He was always a little later than Jade whenever they went anywhere, because Nico went to a different college that was a little farther away.
“Hey,” waved Jade as Nico finally came, “How do you feel about your last day of college?”
“Uh..proud?”
“EHEEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH!”
“aHhhH”
“Lol”
They laughed a little, then took sips of their boba. They talked about school stuff for a bit, then Makenzie came along.
“Oh, god, there’s Makenzie,” groaned Jade.
Nico rolled his eyes as Makenize waved.
“OMG HIIIII!!!!” yelled Makenize, running over. She had gone to Nico’s college, and was looking for Nico to...hang out with him.
“Uh..hi…” said Nico dull, waving a little.
“How was your last day of college”?
“Fine-”
“Where were you after school?”
“Jade texted me to-”
“I was looking all over for you!”
“Okay?”
Mackenzie ordered a bright purple colored boba; it looked exactly like Nico’s: A medium size with a thicc blue straw, mango bits at the bottom, and grape flavored. Nico realized this detail, and quickly finished his boba and threw it away. Mackenzie gave him a dirty look, then turned away. Nico stood in between Makenzie and Jade.
“Oh wait, lemme get something!” Nico announced suddenly, remembering something. He quickly dashed around the corner, and ran to his house. He said “hi” to his mom as he ran by ( who waved to him ), ran up the stairs to his room, opened a cabinet, took out a black-covered notebook, ran down the stairs, out the door, and back to the boba place.
Makenzie and Jade looked at him confusingly as he arrived.
“What’s that?” asked Jade, pointing to the notebook.
“This...is..the...the notebook that I wrote..future ideas... in…” panted Nico.
“What notebook? What ideas? Huh?” asked Makenzie, confused.
“Uh...do you remember when you were trying out for that modeling thing like...5 years ago?”
Mackenzie thought for a moment, then she frowned, “yeah...what about it?”
She didn’t want any reminders of her humiliation.
“So when you were trying out, me and Jade were writing down notes of future ideas! Like movies or something!” explain Nico.
Jade eyes glowed, “OH YEAH I REMEMBER!”
Nico smiled at her and Makenzie looked even angrier than ever.
“Why do you still have that? It’s been, lke, 5 years, dude,” spat Makenzie.
She and Nico gave each other a dirty look, and Nico ignored the comment. He turned to Jade, who was just watching.
“Like I was saying….” continued Nico, “Do you wanna see what I wrote?”
Jade nodded silently, and Nico opened the notebook. Jade peered over, and Makenzie did occasionally and silently, too.
“So, Nico, do you wanna have a sleepover?” asked Makenzie, like their old conversation never happened.
“I-uh-what?!” stammered Nico.
“I SAID-”
“No, no, I know what you said, just WHY did you ask?!”
“Because, we barely hang out…”
“Uh...fine…I guess” added Nico.
Jade looked at Nico confusingly, and he shrugged.
“I don’t wanna sound mean,” whispered Nico as Makenzie threw away her boba.
Jade nodded in understandment.
“Imma go put away my book…” Nico told Makenzie when she returned, “Meet you at your house.”
Mackenzie skipped away, and Nico waved at Jade; who waved back.
Nico walked after Makenzie, and Jade just stared at them.
“What the heck?!” thought Jade, “What did I just witness?”.
Nico opened his house door, and his mom greeted him. He walked to his room and put away the book. He carefully placed it over his 5 diaries and 7 random notebooks. As soon as he left his house, Jade was waiting there.
“Oh...hi Jade,” waved Nico.
“Hi, can I see your book ideas thingymabob again?”
“Uh...sure...it’s in my room in the right cabinet-” he remembered the fact that his diaries were in that cabinet as well, “ACTUALLY ON SECOND THOUGHT I’LL GO GET IT!”
“Uh- ok?”
Nico dashed to his cabinet, got the notebook, and ran outside.
“Here,” he said, handing her his book.
“Oh, uh, thanks,” stammered Jade.
“Gtg!” quickly said Nico, dashing to Makenzie’s house.
Jade had many questions, but the biggest one was: “Why didn’t Nico let me get the book for MYSELF?” Jade thought. She was curious, so when Nico was out of sight, she went into his house. She was friends with Nico’s mum, so it was ok.
“Hi, can I look for something in Nico’s room?” asked Jade, just so Nico’s mom knew she was there.
“Oh! Hi Jade, of course,” replied Nico’s mom.
Jade walked up the stairs, and she turned the corner and sprinterd to Nico’s room. “Okokkokok, so the right cabinet-” she thought, but then she remembered that Nico had multiple cabinets.
“OH COME ON!” ground Jade.
She checked through the first cabinet; there was nothing there. She looked out the window to make sure Nico wasn’t there; he wasn’t. She looked through the second cabinet. Nothing there. She looked out the window. He wasn’t there.
...3rd cabinet
...4th cabinet
...5th cabinet
As she tiredly rummaged through the 6th cabinet, she noticed there were books, and notebooks; notebooks that looked identical to the one Nico had given her. She picked one up, and checked the first page. In big words, it read:
Nico’s 5th diary.
