Upon the highest tree, a small figure could be seen watching the two leaving the forest. Its beady eyes had an intense look to it as it clenched its little hands.
It then skipped away from the branch it was sitting on into a hole in the tree. Inside, a few more creatures similar to it were sitting around a tree stump that acted as a table.
“Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak!” one of the squirrels squeaked out in anger. [THIS IS BLASPHEMY! HOW ON EARTH DID THAT DOG MANAGE TO KILL OUR LEADER?!]
“Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak.” The one coming from the outside said calmly. [I do not know. I overheard their conversation and it seemed that the man with the white hair had caught onto our plans of conquering the world. He must be disposed of.]
A series of squeaks could be heard inside the tree hole, indicating that the squirrels were in shock. How on Earth did that man manage to get information about their plans?
Did he send the dog after their leader? It was a possibility. If the man knew of their plan to conquer the world, it would be smart to get rid of the strongest squirrel first.
“Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak!” said another squirrel. [Damn! After all the planning that we did. We almost finished too! With the loss of our leader, we don’t have a choice but to start over.]
“Squeak, squeak, squeak.” [I suppose so. We need to start with the vote for the next leader. Does anyone have a recommendation?]
“Squeak, squeak, squeak!” called out one squirrel that was larger than the others. [I propose Lilias to be our next leader! Who’s with me?!]
The others were quick to agree. Lilias, the one that came in earlier, was on the verge of tearing at the honor or replacing his previous leader. He respected him so much to the point of wishing to take his place someday.
However, he envisioned that he would take Kilias’s place after the world was conquered, not after the abrupt death of his beloved leader.
“Squeak, squeak, squeak.” He said. [I will carry this honor and be the best leader that I can be for you all. May we all see the death of this world together. No more losses. I promise you that.]
That night, the squirrels mourned but also celebrated the future that they’d soon destroy. Humankind was going to face the oppression that they felt for so long.
But first, Lilias needed to keep an eye out on the white-haired man and his companion.
