Darkness Part 1
It feels so cold
Where am I?
A blurry image of a young man with blonde hair and black sunglasses seated in an office desk with a black tuxedo greets me as I open my eyes. However, it was pure darkness surrounding the desk. No floors, no walls, and probably no ceiling since I’m too fixated on this guy to look up.
“Yo.”
I can’t respond, it’s like something is gripping my mouth shut. Like wires running through braces…
Or rather like my mouth was sewn shut.
“Oh yeah… you can't talk, rookie mistake on my part”
I can breathe now, but somehow I didn't notice I couldn't before. I look up. Yep, no ceiling. Wait why did I want to confirm that anyways? That doesn't matter where the hell am I?
“Um…”
He interrupts-
“Yeah I get it.”
A pause.
“There's no ceiling.”
Huh?
“No that's not what-”
“Oh yes! How rude of me to forget introductions!”
He cut me off again. What a cheerful yet smug tone this guy has. No biggie, but I don’t really care about this guy's name. Moreover, I feel like I’m being watched here. Where am I anyways? This guy must be pretty used to this.
“Ahem!”
My attention is drawn back to the blondie as he pushes his glasses up his nose.
“My name is Celeste Ambrose, but you can call me... Peter”
What kind of nickname is that?
“I’m a huge Spiderman fan”
…
“Can I call you Celeste?”
I’ll disregard it’s basically a girl's name…
“Fine… but it doesn't feel as iconic as Peter”
Why am I here
“You’re thinking about why you're here.”
Yes I am… wait how did you know
“Because you’re as readable as a light novel in here.”
…
“Where am I?”
“Simple question, simple answer…”
Silence
“Uh… what religion do you follow…”
He said reluctantly as he stared nervously towards me. I hesitate as I answer,
“None particularly, why?”
He begins to scratch the back of his head.
“Damn buddy, cause this is like the afterlife and shit and you kinda… died.”
His tone shifted completely from cheerful smug to nonchalant ‘I don’t care’ attitude. I think I got whiplash. Wait…
“I died…?”
“Yeahhhhh You’re not surprised?”
I mean I think I am??? I should be at least. But I feel even more confused, overwhelmed, and shocked. It’s like passing out at a basketball practice and suddenly Kobe Bryant is there giving you lessons when you come to. I only could ask one question
“Who are you?”
He smirked as if he wasn’t expecting me to ask that but was hoping to hear me ask it.
“I already gave you my name, didn't I? Shouldn't you be more worried as to how you got here…”
He’s right. Maybe I should remember. Last thing I remember is…
nothing.
Darkness envelops my mind.
“You can't, right?”
I can’t
“What’s your name?”
My name?
…
“I don’t know”
Celeste raised his eyebrows
“What do you look like? What’s your ethnicity, Hair color, Age, Profession, Education level, Love life, Family, Friends, Your personality?”
Deep breath
“How did you die?”
He asked me all these questions without letting me have a chance to respond. Not like he needed to, he knew the answers to all of them the minute he heard my first answer. This was just his reaffirmation.
“I don’t know”
“Interesting, would you like me to tell you what I know?”
I had no choice. I nodded as he put his feet up on his desk and prepared to tell a story.
