Kassy’s POV

“What was that?” Blayne asks, everyone shrugged not knowing what happened. “Let’s go check it out,” I suggested. We went upstairs and checked Astrid's room, she wasn’t there. I look over at the window and I see her hovering in the air. “Why are you outside Astrid?” She doesn’t move to look at us, “I wanted to fly.” Blayne goes a little closer, “When did you get wings?” he asked. “When I went for a walk earlier, Akira gave them to me.”

“How come they are black?” he asked as he turned to Akira. “It means she has powers, it’s nothing bad.” he nods. “What are the powers?” he asked her. “She has the ability to freeze things and I believe the ability to heal. Though I’m not entirely sure.”

He got really excited for a second, “if you gave me wings what would be the chance they would be black?” She rolled her eyes at him, “They wouldn’t be, it’s an extremely rare occurrence.” she told him. “Oh,” he said looking bummed out. I laughed and looked back at Astrid, “why don’t you come inside Astrid?” She looked at me and shook her head and flew away from the house.

“I think there is something bothering her,” Blayne said and I nodded in agreement. We all headed downstairs, and Arabella was waiting for them. “What’s going on, you all look kinda stressed,” she said. I told her what happened and she wasn’t sure how to respond.

“Blayne and I are going to talk to her.” Arabella looks over at me, “Just be careful, she has a short temper and she will use her powers if she wants to be left alone.” I nod, “I am well aware of that.” I saw with a short laugh. Blayne and I leave and go to find her.

After running for what seemed like forever we finally found where she was hiding but I still couldn’t see her, “Astrid, come out and talk to us?” Blayne says. “Go away!” I sigh, “we just want to help you Astrid!”

“Go away!” she snarled as she walked out towards us. She places her hands on the ground and everything starts to freeze. It reached Blayne and I in a matter of seconds and the ice started climbing up our legs. We break out of the ice before it covers us completely and we run.

Back at the house, Blayne’s POV

Kassy and I finally get back to the house and go inside. “What happened?” Arabella asks as she walks over to us. “Well we found her, and then she tried to freeze us so we had to run,” I explained. Arabella sighs and paces the room, “I wonder what’s bothering her.” Alec walks into the house and looks at everyone, “what’s going on?” I look at him unsure I want to say anything, “Astrid’s gone.”

Alec scoffed and rolled his eyes, “again, really?” I ignore his comment and look at Arabella, “Could you try to talk to her, I know you two are really close.” She nods, “worth a try.” she said and walked out the door. Alec was about to leave the house again when I grab him, “what is going on with you? You’ve been more of an asshole lately.” He pulls his arm out of my grip and starts to walk away, “it’s none of your damn business,” he said as he slammed the door.

In the woods Astrid’s POV

I hear someone walk around where I’m hiding. I catch the scent and know that it’s Arabella. “Astrid, we need to talk.” she says seriously. “I want to be left alone.” She sighs, “I get that, but we really need to talk.” I groan but got up and walked over to where she is. “What could possibly be so important?” I asked coldly. I notice her taking a deep breath preparing herself for what she had to say. Then she looked at me, “I’m your sister Astrid.” My mouth drops open and I stared at her, “what!!”

She laughs at my reaction. “My mother sent me a letter saying that I had a sister.” I started pacing, how is that even possible? “That doesn’t make sense. I’m an orphan, and was an only child until Blayne found me.” I said. “The letter explained everything. I’ll tell you if you are willing to listen.” I nod.

“It said that she got pregnant with you and Blayne at a young age, you two are twins and that’s why you look alike.” She paused to make sure I was okay, I nod for her to continue. “Her father was upset that she got pregnant so he took you two away right after she gave birth. Blayne stayed with your dad, but his wife didn’t want two kids so he was forced to leave you. He kept track of you for a while but eventually stopped.”

I stood there for a minute in complete shock, “I never got adopted, I just bounced from family to family...At least I know how his dad knew about me.” I told her to go on. “She said she wanted both of you but obviously she didn’t have the chance to keep you. So a year later she got pregnant again with me and ran away with my father. When she saw you for the first time after we became friends she knew you were her daughter. Then my dad died and she never was never able to talk about it because it brought up too many painful memories. She has been forgetting stuff lately so she finally sent me a letter explaining everything in case one day she didn’t remember herself.”

I just stand there, thinking and trying to process everything she just told me. I looked up at Arabella, “I guess we are best friends for life now.” I laugh. She laughed with me but became serious again, “wanna tell me what’s bothering you now?” I sigh, “I feel like such a burden to everyone. I cause so many problems. I was planning on leaving and never coming back.” I said not meeting her eyes. I heard her scoff, “did you actually think that would work? We would have looked for you non-stop until we got you back.” I knew that but I wanted to try anyway. “Let’s go home Astrid, everyone is worried.” We are about to walk back when someone blocks our path.

I feel a bad vibe from him and my powers respond instantly. He takes a step back, after looking at me. My eyes must be shifting, “Who are you?” I growl. “The man who’s going to kill you monsters!” he stats which causes me to laugh, “well before that can we at least know your name,” I asked calmly. “It’s Talon.” I nod, “and what is it you plan to do Talon?”

“Kill you obviously! Your kind overpopulates our world and I hate it. So I started hunting you down one by one and killing you.” I feel my anger rising and I turn away from him trying to compose myself so I won’t lose control. I see Arabella step away from me, “y...you’re eyes, they're turning red.” she told me. I turned back to Talon ignoring what she told me, he stepped back again not sure what to do.

He shakes his head like he's trying to focus and then he pulls out a gun and points it at me. I laugh darkly, “You think that will hurt me?” I snarl, taking a step towards him. He smirks and shakes his head, “ No, but it will hurt her!” He changes his aim quickly and shoots Arabella in the chest. She falls to the ground.

“No!” I stalk towards him, he tries to run but I use my powers and freeze him in place only leaving his head free. I walk up to him and enjoy watching him shake in fear. I sink my fangs into his neck and drink his blood until I no longer feel a pulse. I straighten up and feel the blood drip down my face. I lick my lips and smirk, then I grab his head and rip it off and I watch as the blood sprays everywhere. I snap out of my trance and run back to Arabella, I try to wake her up but no luck. I pick her up and run home. I burst through the door. I see Blayne jump and look at us, as soon as he sees her he rushes over, “What happened?” He looks at me and gasps, “Your eyes.. Why are they red?”

“That’s not important right now!” I snarl, my patients and control is running thin. “She was shot and I think the bullet is poisoned.” He grabs her and puts her on the table and pulls her shirt up revealing the gunshot wound. All around the wound was green and had black veins pulsing around it. “That is definitely poisoned.”

He looks around, “Akira! I need you.” he yells. She runs to the table, and gasps when she sees Arabella but composes herself quickly, “I can whip something up to help her, but I need you to take out the bullet first.” he nodded. He grabs some large tweezers and takes the bullet out as Akira mixes up a potion.

“Okay, it’s done. I’ll spread it over the wound and it will cure the poison.” We both nod, as she walks over to Arabella and spreads it over the entire wound. It starts to heal instantly but Arabella didn’t wake up. “Why isn’t she waking up?” I demand. Akira looked at me and flinched, “we might have been too late.” she whispers.

I was about to flip out when she stops me, “ Astrid...I was able to research what your powers are. You do have healing abilities but also if someone dies you have the ability to bring them back, but it is very dangerous and has serious consequences for you.”

“I don’t care what happens to me, she is my sister and I will not let her go!” I hear Blayne gasp and he stares at me, “I need to help her, I don’t have time to explain things to you. Look around for a letter from Arabella’s mom.” he nods and walks away. He comes back a few seconds later with a letter in his hand. I turn back to Arabella and place my hands on her stomach. I concentrate all my power to heal her wound and bring her back. She gasps for air and sat up startling me.

I grab her and hug her tightly, “Thank god you're alive!” I let go and feel a wave of dizziness wash over me, I fight to stay upright. Blayne looks up at us both, “so we are all siblings?” he asks. I look at him and nod, I was about to walk towards him but my legs give out and everything turns black.

Blayne’s POV

I move in time to grab Astrid before she cracks her head on the ground. I hear Akira sigh, “I knew something would happen if she used her powers.” I pick her up just as Alec walks into the house. “What happened?” he asks, already sounding annoyed. “I was shot and died, but Astrid used her powers to bring me back.” Arabella explains. “It’s always something with her isn’t it.” he mumbles irritated. I glare at him but keep my mouth shut and continue to carry Astrid upstairs and lay her down.

Back downstairs. Arabella’s POV

Alec was about to leave but I grab him, “what the hell is wrong with you? You’ve changed.” He scoffs at me “Nothing, just leave me the fuck alone.” He tries to walk away but I grab him again, “tell me what your fucking issue is Alec.” I growl, I’m over his shit. Alec pulls away from me but stays this time. “I don’t want to be with Astrid anymore!’ he says angrily. I stand there in shock not knowing what to say, I see him smirk at me.
