“You heading off shift Marie?” I turned my head and smiled at my long time friend Clarissa.
“I know it almost doesn’t seem real that Dr. Hammell is letting me go home, it’s almost like even he can’t break the law.” I chuckled standing and hitting the log out button on my computer.
“Us nurses have all the best luck don’t we?” She laughed and swiveled her chair around.
“don’t we?” I gave her the ‘I hate it here’ face and shrugged into my coat. Ahh the Colorado weather I loved and yet also hated.
“Be safe babe. And don’t go reading that silly book, get some rest. You haven’t slept on any of your breaks you look dead tired.” I snorted and shook my head
“No worries I already finished the book. I’m heading home to eat and sleep.” I waved a hand and snatched up my bag heading for the hospital doors. Picking up my pace when I locked eyes with doctor hammel.
“Marie- oh sorry,…”
I waved a hand and pointed to my ear as if I couldn’t hear him and pushed out the hospital. I could hear him trying to get out of the conversation he was in but I refused to give him any time to have me stay.
I rushed to my car and got in starting the Kia’s engine I backed out of my spot and headed to the main road checking my rear view mirror I could see the doctor standing in front of the doors waving his hands. I ignored him.

When I finally made it one after the twenty minute ride I collapsed on my sofa and closed my eyes humming softly. A sense of warmth came over me at the same time my senses began to dull and I could no longer lift my arms or legs. I felt myself slowly slip just as I heard my door slam open.
“MARIE!”
My name was the last word I heard in my life, I heard my heart stop. I’m not sure but I did. It was dark and a heavy sense of drowsiness began to come over me. I squeezed my hand closed and opened it again. Then opening my eyes and blinking up into bright green eyes of an old man.
“Cersi has awakened call her father the head priest and Saintess Georgina she will want to see her sister.”
“Yes doctor” came another voice. I turned my head and watched the back of someone cosplaying in a maid costume walk out of the room.
“My dear….how are you feeling?”
“Who are you” I questioned, surprisingly I wasn’t panicked more confused I recognized the name he called me from somewhere.
“Ah you’ve forgotten me. I’m doctor Layard. Th church’s doctor. Your father had me come in to help with you. You’ve been out for days, weeks even.”
“Wait….my father?” I questioned. The doctor gave me a concerned look and touched my head frowning.
“Cersi do you remember who you are?” The doctor questioned
“I-…” I paused and tried to move but my body felt like lead.
“Maybe its amnesia, your name is Cersi Maria Cresthill the second daughter to the Head Priest of Armand the northern country in Cinta.” He waited watching me.
I paused the familiarity of that name rushing forward to my mind.
Holy Guacamole I’m in that book, I hav to be. It wouldn’t make any other sense. But how did I get Isekai’d into a book, I didn’t get hit by a truck or anything. Did I die?
A wave of memories splashed into my mind and I froze. I felt my heart stop. Someone came into my apartment and called my name the voice was familiar but. Can’t remember who the voice was. I died. Make Callum died. I was reincarnated into this body? Wait but this body can speak. So she’s not an infant. Did my soul just take some random empty body?
shit! I’m taking over someone’s life, what happened to the real soul? I sighed. I needed to look through her memories but they seemed locked. Every time I tried I’d get blocked and my head would pulse.
“Darling!” A man came in rushing to the bed and sitting next to my leg.
“My child….I’m so happy your awake.” The man looked me over and furrowed his brows.
“Who?-“
“I’m sorry head priest but the child remembers nothing.”
“What?” He looked at the doctor then back at me.
“I’m sorry.” I wasn’t sure why I was apologizing but it felt right to do.
“No worries my chid I’m your father, we’ll get the imperial doctor here tomorrow to help with the amnesia.
“SISTER!” A blond haired girl came into the room she glistened as she walked and a smile on her face as she saw me tears pricking her eyes.
“This is the saintess your sister Georgian Huisa Cresthill.”
“Does she’s have amnesia why have you told her my name.”
“Yes my lady she does have amnesia she remembers nothing.”
“So we wont be able to find out who poisoned her?”
I gagged my eyes widening.
“POISON!”
“Georgina to your room please!” My father I guess yelled at her and she humphed stomping out of the door.
“Don’t worry about it my child we will help you, just rest for now.” He smiled and touched my forehead a bright light hit my eyes and then I was sleeping.
