When the Weak Go Marching In Part 6
Maybe it was the current mindset I was in. Maybe the environment around me too. Who knows, maybe it was the way I was dressed. But I finished the book and I felt so accomplished as if I finished reading this story and witnessed the protagonist’s short journey begin and end. These fictional books not only cemented my drive to fight and learn my past, but I might remain friends with Yuki in case he wants to give me more of them.
The train slowed to a stop, strangely enough the ghost train brought us to our location which we never got off of due to our fatigue from the fight and fear of ambush. The enemies would've never guessed our location was inside the spot we were being targeted in.
As we exited the train we remained in high alert, fully covering our backs in stark contrast to the mess we were when we began conflict within the train. The tension remained between Gato and Yuki, but if I stood between them then they hardly seemed to even speak to each other. As we exited the station and began walking we noticed a familiar figure.
“Heya guys!”
Celeste?!
He stood in front of us as if nothing happened and he was with us all along. I was shocked of course but Gato and Yuki acted like it was par for the course with Celeste. No worries about him and I don't think they were ever really worried about him. Deep down I wasn't worried either since their composure kept me focused on their own issues and the fight at hand.
“Did you like my driving skills?”
Yuki responded to the smug leather clad man,
“Yes, for once you were a team player.”
Celeste mimics an anime school girl,
“Awe jeez, I didn't mean to be one! I just wanted to drive the train for fun!!”
Seems the reason we got here is thanks to Celeste. He eyes Gato and laughs,
“Damn Gato! You and wifey over there aren't at each other's throats!”
Hearty Laugh,
“Sex really does solve everything!”
They ignored him, clearly they've dealt with him before. I follow them as they walk past him. Suddenly he zooms past us in a motorbike to my surprise yet everyone else's mundane expression remains. Celeste pulls over to an oriental restaurant and claps his hands,
“I love me some sushi!”
He bows and lets the other two in, Yuki stops and turns to me in sight of my confusion as to if its normal to enter a restaurant like that.
"We may be Guardians but humans can see us if we talk to them."
Yuki continues,
"Think of it like this, you don't remember everyone who walks past you on the street. We have that type of subtlety in the world except greatly amplified."
Yuki gives me a slight smile and a thumbs up and Gato gives me two. They step into the restuarant. I begin to walk in but then Celeste stops me before I enter.
“I’d like to speak with you though, O1.”
