When the Weak Go Marching In Part 10
The dust settled and the dusk settled, my bones were visible on my legs, hands, arms, and face. I limped towards the large Lost as the rest of them dissipated into smoke behind me, my limping returned to normal walking after a few seconds. My face remained stern as I faced the large lard. He looks down on me to mumble,
“Thank you.”
Unexpectedly, if these things can talk as clearly and understandable as a human then perhaps I can gain information.
“Lost. Who am I!”
He compresses down to my level,
“Half.”
He touched my forehead to which I conceived another Black Memory, this one of a woman crying. She begs and pleads to which it blends with me walking away from a burning home, this time in this memory I can hear my own voice. I spoke so lonely and defeated as if something was taken from me that I couldn't protect,
“Mom…”
I snapped back.
Someone killed my mother.
“Who did it?? Where can I learn more?!”
The Lost points to the bridge,
“Learn from Purgatory.”
He begins to dissipate as the sun finally begins to set beneath the horizon,
“Good Luck 38193ö5h3e4 and cherish this moment, its much more vibrant than the darkness that awaits you...”
The final word was completely incomprehensible but I was satisfied with the current knowledge. To learn of my mothers death and receive the next piece of this puzzle I have to collapse Purgatory and gain the answers from them myself.
Darkness enveloped the city as I entered the restaurant. 4:45 PM dark so early for no damn reason. I was fully healed.
I entered the table they were all seated at, it seemed like Celeste ordered the buffet since 10 empty plates sprawled around the table. Gato ate slowly and Yuki was playing games on his phone.
“This is only my first plate.”
Gato said,
“Celeste also had only one plate….”
Yeah right,
“I hope your training went well, I was watching you and it seems like your resilience and overall strength improved. I know you're sore and tired so here's some sushi. Oh yeah, here's the books too!!”
YESSSSSS
I began to read but before I could finish the first sentence a young man entered.
Man? No he could be a woman too.
Wait… I can't tell.
They had long braided hair to their chest and an ominous smile with the most void eyes ever. They wore a cardigan with a black shirt and gray sweatpants.
They spoke,
“Yo Celeste! I brought the whip! Didja save me any food?”
He passed the plate to them, I still can't tell their gender.
“Sushi?! Save me a slice!!”
They inhaled the plate, finishing the full set with just two bites. Impressive but who is this person?
“Oh yeah I forgot to introduce myself to the zombie!”
Zombie?!
“My name’s Sol! I’m like 19 but I can be whatever age I wanna be! I’ll be driving you guys to Toronto!”
I asked the question,
“Are you a boy or a girl?”
Stares from all.
“Hehehe it's a secret!” They said with a finger over their lips.
Celeste stood and thanked the waitress, slipping her a twenty and making a ‘call me’ gesture with his hands. He faced us,
“I’ll be on the cycle supporting from the front and escorting the car, you guys all remain vigilant. It's dark out and it's perfect for an ambush, not so much a road trip.
We got into the minivan, as he began to drive onwards towards the bridge. Yuki took the front seat and me and Gato remained in the back. She spoke to me while we drove into the night,
“You’ve seen how Nekomata fights so I think it's safe to assume I have the strongest physical capabilities here asides from you. Because of that I need you to be a shield, protect us if you need to.”
She tapped the book,
“I’m not one to talk in cars, I get pretty sick surprisingly so you can read this and once we get off we’ll have something to talk about.”
I smile,
“I will and I’ll save you.”
She laughs as the mood changes,
“Keep being emotional support like you were with me and Yuki last time and we got this.”
It felt as if I wasn't taken seriously, so I decided to leave it be and read the book. Gato reclined her seat and closed her eyes and Yuku kept playing a game on his phone with headphones in. While we were all quiet...
Sol began to speak to me,
“Prim was it?”
“Yeah…?”
“Nice name… so what did that Lost tell you and what do you know about Purgatory?”
