Beck’s consciousness faded in and out for what he felt to be an immeasurable amount of time.
Eventually, the void of darkness that he was in was pierced by a brilliant white light.
He felt as if his entire being was being transported billions of light-years away at incredible speeds.
Suddenly the disorienting movement stopped.
A mechanical voice filled his mind.
[Welcome to the tutorial stage.]
‘Huh?’ he thought.
[Your senses will be adjusted momentarily.]
A loud ringing noise pulsed inside of his mind causing him to have a headache.
‘Wait can I even have headaches right now? I thought I was dead.’
*Ding*
[Senses have been adjusted, reinstating avatar’s body.]
A blinding white light suddenly filled his vision and he collapsed to the ground.
[Injecting calm into avatar’s mind.]
Beck felt an immense calm wash over him causing him to collect his thoughts.
Slowly his vision cleared and he looked around him. He was now inside of a grandiose white room that seemed to expand for miles on each side. He noticed that he was still on the ground, so he stood up before examining his body.
It appeared that his body had been restored to its original state if not even in a better condition than beforehand.
‘How long was I in that void for?’ he thought.
*Ding*
[Avatar was inside the void for approximately 3 hours 12 minutes and 43 seconds.]
“What the fuck?”, he said aloud while looking around to try and find the source of the mechanical voice.
Still feeling relatively calm he reorganized his thoughts once more.
‘Obviously, I’m still alive, but where am I, and why can I hear a strange voice coming from nowhere?’
*Ding*
[Avatar is now located in the Tower’s Tutorial Selection Room.]
[The voice you are hearing is the tower’s automated response system.]
‘An automated response system? Interesting, but that doesn’t explain why it can hear my thoughts.’
[The tower is only able to read the avatar’s thoughts during the tutorial stages.]
‘I see, so it’s like a guide of sorts?’
[Yes, the system that has been programmed here is much like a guide.]
‘Okay then, what exactly is this room supposed to be?’, he asked.
[This is the aforementioned tutorial room.]
[The avatar that has been summoned here will get to choose a tutorial to take.]
[The avatar will also be given a status screen, as well as an inherent trait from the tower.]
‘Status Screen?’
Suddenly a see-through blue screen popped up in his vision.
[Name: Beck Arvett]
[Race: Human]
[Health: Normal]
[Class: None]

[Traits:]
[Quick-witted]
[Calculative]
[???]
[Inhreritance:]
[Intuition→???]
[???]
[Items:]
[Basic Clothing]
‘What does all of this even mean?’
[Would the avatar like a full rundown of each category?]
Beck thought for a moment before answering.
‘No, just tell me about the question marks and what my inheritance is.’
[The question marks represent an unknown to the system and must be discovered by the avatar itself.]
[Inheritance is a special gift from the tower that is based on the avatar’s talents.]
[If the avatar wishes, they may probe the screen mentally to gain further details.]
Beck once again took a moment to file everything away in his mind before looking down at his inheritance once more.
‘Inspect?’
[Inheritance:]
[Intuition: the ability to make subconscious correct decisions while also being able to understand things to a deeper level.]
Beck also tried to inspect the question marks below but to no avail.
[Now beginning tutorial phase.]
[Tutorial difficulty being calculated…]
Beck waited patiently while the system created his tutorial stage. At this point he already knew what was going to happen, he would be tested to see how strong he was.
[Difficulty created: Medium]
‘Phew.’ he thought inwardly sighing in relief, ‘Hopefully, the test isn’t too hard then.’
[Test: Mag--]
[Error… Error…]
[Higher influence being enforced.]
‘That’s definitely not good.’ he exclaimed.
[Recalculating...Recalculating...]
[One moment please.]
[...]
With that silence once again filled his mind.
After a few seconds of waiting, Beck started to pace back and forth in the large room.
[New difficulty selected]
[Difficulty created: Specialty]
[Test: Unique]
[No info on the test will be given beforehand]
[Commencing test in 10 seconds.]
“Wait what?”, he said aloud not able to contain himself anymore.
“Why did the difficulty change? Why don’t I get to know what my test is?”
The voice however did not give him a response and instead began its countdown.
[10...9...8...7]
‘For fuck’s sake, it’s one thing after another with this place.’
[6...5...4...3…]
He mentally readied himself for whatever was next.
[2...1…]
[Commencing test, may luck be on your side.]
His vision once again faded into black.
[Test name: A Mage’s Remembrance]
[Face the trial left behind by Archmage Crestor]
[In his old age, Archmage Crestor locked himself inside of his tower trying to discover how to transport himself through time.]
[Before making his breakthrough, however, he, unfortunately, died due to his own carelessness during one of his spellcasting tests.]
[Objective: Understand Archmage Crestor’s Spell within the time limit.]
[Time-limit 7 days.]
[Due to the difficulty of the trial, basic magical knowledge will be imparted upon the avatar.]
[May luck be with you.]
