Ada stood in the middle of the wreckage that the monstrous creature had created. She could see the black monster desperately pushing itself through the doorway to the closet and could see it slowly making its way through. Hail was on borrowed time, Ada knew this. She had to do something before her sarcastic brother becomes monster grub.
'I have to get its attention!' Ada thought, as she picked up a rock and tossed it at the occupied monster. It bounced off of its…head, but it didn't even acknowledge the poor stone.
Ada had to try something else, and quick! Something that would divert its attention, something that would make it forget all about the oh so delicious snack that was currently trapped inside of the closet.
Ada spotted Hail's EDC bag under some rubble. "Something that can make things go 'FWOOSH'."
Ada quickly ran to the bag and dug through it. She could hear the monster growl louder and louder, as it got closer and closer to Hail. Ada found what she was looking for. An orange pistol with five orange bullets snuggled next to it.
Ada upholstered the gun from the bag, loaded it with a bullet, and aimed it at the creepy but awesome monster.
She only shot the flare gun once before. It was when her and Hail got lost in the forest. At that time, it was a white winter and Hail had a fever that I didn't know about until after he collapsed. The S.O.S devices weren't working, and Ada didn't know where they were, since she relied on Hail for navigations. In the end, she had no choice but to use the gun and pray that Hail would be okay.
'Calm and steady. Just like Hail taught you.'
Ada slowly exhaled and shot the orange weapon. A fiery red light soared through the air and landed on the back of the black creature. Ada cheered while the monster howled. The air became foul as the flesh of the monster burned.
Ada covered her nose. Her eyes watered as the most indescribably unpleasant scent reached her. The monster thrashed, dislodging the burning ember from its body. It growled dangerously as it glared at the source of its pain, and said source stood frozen with her nose still covered.
The monster roared. The sound reverberated through both teenagers as it struck fear into their hearts. Ada stared amazed at the endless rows of sharp teeth that the monster so nicely showed her.
'Huh…the worm from Dune...' Ada absent mindedly thought as the monster started to wildly charge at the gray eyed girl with it's mouth wide open.
Ada snapped herself out of her revery and fumbled with the gun, trying to reload it, but dropped the remainder of the bullets on the ground. The monster was upon her now, and it seemed like it was pissed.
Ada did the only thing left. She threw the gun at the monster, hoping that it would do some type of damage to it, but the orange pistol was quickly shattered by those teeth. The monster wasn't slowed in the slightest.
Ada sprinted out the restaurant with the grotesque monster hot on her tail.
"ADA!?" Hail called from his position in the closet but was only met with the sound of rubble settling. Hail unzipped his camo jacket and pulled on his arm that was stuck to the wall, which came out with little to no resistance thanks to his navy sweater that he wore underneath.
Hail hurriedly slipped out of the rest of his jacket, before running back into the main part of the restaurant. Ada and the monster were nowhere in sight, but there was a gapping hole where the entrance to the restaurant once was.
"…Ada…" Hail whispered with fear and concern. Hail snatched the almost forgotten black bag, before running through the new entrance and following the trail of destruction. Turning on a blue device while doing so.
----
Ada ran as fast as she could through the forest surrounding the park. She didn't know why she ran into the forest of all places, but it was really hard to think rationally while running away from a giant black creature with teeth that'll make the sandworm from Dune jealous.
Ada yelped when a slew of black liquid went passed her and hit one of the upcoming trees. She quickly made a sharp turn, and another shot went passed her, while the monster slammed into a tree while trying to make the same turn.
Ada took a glance behind her, and saw the monster slowly get back up while roaring its frustrations. Thanks to her doing this though, Ada tripped on a protruding root and fell. The monster saw this, and charged in for the finishing bite, but Ada was quick to recover and was back on her feet in an instance.
----
A beeping sound can be heard from a pair of silver headphones, which were currently being worn by a man in a white button up shirt. The man scanned the screen in front of him and scrunched up his face in distaste.
"Captain, you may want to see this." The man spoke aloud.
A woman in a black police uniform walked to the man's side. "What's wrong?" She asked as she looked over the man's shoulder.
"We just got an S.O.S signal from device 02771. The owner is-"
"Hail Gibson…" She finished, her brown eyes narrowing in concern. She knew that Hail wouldn't start up the signal for nothing. Ada, maybe, but not Hail.
"What do you want us to do, Captain?" Asked another man who was wearing a navy-blue police uniform.
"Send out the S.O.S Brigade and tell them that I'll be coming with them." She answered.
"…But, Captain..." The one in the button-up shirt tried.
"My orders are clear Mr. West."
"Yes, Captain…"
"I'll get the boys ready." The man in the navy uniform informed.
"We leave in five."

Ada ran deeper into the forest, No-Face's cousin trailing right behind her. Ada stumbled along the forest floor, but she was running out of energy, and the monster knew this. It no longer shot out that sticky liquid, it instead took to just making her run for her life. Knowing that she would soon collapse from exhaustion.
'Damn sadist…' Ada thought vaguely, as her foot slipped on the loose leaves. She tumbled down a little hill and landed in the pile of colorful leaves below.
Ada tried to quickly get up, but found that her right foot was trapped under sticky black liquid. Ada fought to get her foot free, but it was too strong and sticky for her. The white eyed monster leisurely made its way to its newly trapped prey.
"Umm…hey there! How are you?" Ada asked the approaching monster. "Are you Lizzy May? If not then you can just completely ignore me, I mean it's understandable. I get ignored all the time while in school you know. The only one who doesn't ignore me is Hail and these group of bullies."
The monster sat as it slowly raised its claws. "Hail is the guy you had trapped in the closet. Yeah, that Hail. Strange name for someone to have, right? I thought so too when I first met him."
The talons of the monster finally stopped rising, and it gave Ada wicked smile full of teeth. "Hahaha…. you're gonna kill me now, aren't you? Well, at least my life was forfeited to the supernatural…I can at least die happily."
"ADA!!!" Hail screamed from a little ways away from her. He was panting and eyeing the still smiling monster.
Said monster glanced at the wavy-haired boy and smiled even wider if that was even possible. It redirected its attention to the trapped sixteen-year-old, and swiped its claws at her.
"NOOOOO!!!"
Ada could hear Hail scream as she watched the talons move in slow motion. This was the end for her, but for some reason, she was fine with her life ending like this. Because in the end, she managed to prove to both Hail and herself that the supernatural was real, and that was all she could ever hope for. Ada closed her eyes, and accepted death…that is until the monster roared in pain and her death never came.
Ada's grey eyes shot open to see a furry black creature that was currently attacking the No-Face wannabe.
The furry creature bit through black flesh and then jumped away from the bleeding monster, landing expertly onto the forest floor. Ada could now see that it was a dog!
'No, a wolf!' She corrected. It was three times bigger than your typical wolf though. It had hazel gold eyes that reminded her of golden honey, its black muzzle dripped with syrupy black liquid. In its teeth, it held a crystal that seemed warp with distortion.
The monster gave a feral roar at the wolf and pounced at it, but the giant wolf stood firm. The furry creature opened its mouth wide, and then chomped on the distorting crystal. Making it shatter into shards that seemed to twinkle away as it fell. At that same moment, the monster collapsed onto the ground. Silent and unmoving.
Ada stared at the now dead monster, and then back to the wolf who killed it.
"Wow…" She whispered. Ada suddenly felt arms around her neck, and realized that it was Hail hugging her.
"You crazy idiot!" Hail berated as he tightened the hug. Ada hugged him back, glad that they were both alive to share this moment. Though, Ada didn't once take her eyes off of the black wolf, that was now staring at them both in distaste.
Hail quit the hug and started to analyze Ada's savior.
'It seems civil enough. It seems more on the heavyset side, so it's most likely male. He's alone, so he may be without a pack or maybe he's an adult. It's hard to tell. All in all, this isn't a normal wolf.'
"Though the giant size kinda gave it away." Hail muttered to himself.
Ada slowly stood on sore legs and gave her savior a pleasant smile. "Thank you, Wolfy. I would've been dead without you. Not that I would've really mind, seeing how I would've died by the hands of the supernatural! I-I'm also not saying that I'm ungrateful or anything! I'm just gonna shut up now." Ada nervously giggled.
Hail sighed and decided to take the reins. He stood and gave the wolf a respectful bow. "Thank you for saving my death seeking sister. We owe you one." Hail thanked.
"Hey! I'm not a death seeker, I'm a supernatural seeker!"
"Could've fooled me…" Hail retorted.
At that moment, sirens could be heard, and the teenagers could see blue and red lights in the distance. People in navy uniforms could be seen running towards them.
"Did you turn on the S.O.S device?" Ada questioned Hail.
"Yeah, why?"
"That's what I want to ask you! Why?!" Ada yelled, starting to panic. What if she came along with them?!
"First of all, you were being chased by fat ass No-Face, well at least the discounted version. Second of all, we almost died to said discounted version of fat ass No-face. And third of all, that's just common sense!" Hail reasoned, and of course, his reasoning made sense.
Ada knew this, but she was very afraid of that one woman that may or may not be here. 'Scratch that, she's here.' Ada groaned as she spotted the woman wearing the black uniform.
"Hey, Wolfy. Any way that you can get me out of here?" Ada asked as she turned to her savior, only to find him gone. All that lingered was a scent. A peculiar scent that reminded Ada of herbs.
'Sage? No…mint? Eucalyptus? No…it's softer than eucalyptus. Just what is it?' Ada thought as she tried to examine the mysterious scent.
"Ada! Hail!" The brown eyed woman called; her inky black ponytail bounced as she ran towards them.
"Hey, mom." Ada greeted meekly.
"Hello, Captain Winston. A lovely evening we're having, yes?" Hail greeted.
"That depends." She answered as she reached them. "What's the problem? What happened? Are you two hurt?" She checked them for injuries, and found that they both were a bit bruised, but fine.
"Mentally, yes. But that's just the norm when you hang out with Looney Tunes over here." Hail answered.
"Hey!"
"Okay you two. Just tell me what happened." Ada's mom sighed.
"You would never believe it! We were at the abandoned amusement park and-"
"You mean the same abandoned amusement park that I explicitly told you not to go to at the dead of night?" Captain Winston questioned.
"…Let's not dwell on that part! Anyways we found this hug-"
"Sewer rat that we had mistaken for a feral dog. You should've seen it, it was huge! We got scared when it started to chase us and that's also kinda how we got bruised and…well, lost. Anyways, I left my jacket and phone back there, so do you mind if I go get it?"
Ada stared at Hail in disbelief while Captain Winston sighed in exasperation. "Sure. I'll escort you over there myself and then drive you guys home. Just let me talk to my crew."
"Take your time." Hail smiled, that is until Ada hit his side. "Ow."
"What was that about?!" Ada angrily whispered.
"I've got a better question. No, actually two. How are you standing? And where is the body?"
At that, Ada looked at her right foot, the same foot that should've been stuck to the ground. There was no black liquid or even a residue. She looked at the spot where the monster had fallen, but found nothing there. Ada stared at Hail; grey eyes full of confusion.
"I don't know either, but what I do know is that nobody will believe us. So let's just keep this on the down-low for now."
Ada nodded. She understood that people wouldn't believe them without proof, and as sad as it is, even her own mother wouldn't believe such an outrageous story without something concrete backing it up.
"Alright you two, let's go!" Ada's mom yelled over to them. They started to make their way towards the captain, but Hail suddenly stopped and looked behind him.
"What's up?" Ada questioned.
Hail scanned the trees for a moment before replying to Ada's question. "Nothing…"
'I swear that something was watching us…'
----
A pair of orange eyes glowed behind a darkened tree. They watched the two teenagers leave with the police crew. A gust of autumn wind rustled the trees, and the glowing eyes were suddenly gone.
