After they eat dinner, Jin vanishes to his room as fast as possible, saying a quick ‘good night’. He lays down in bed and covers himself with the blanket. If only he had not ignored his suspicions last week, then it would have been less of a shock, or if only he hadn’t gone into Thorne’s room, then he’d still be living obliviously but carefree.
Jin has a lot on his mind, but he’s able to fall asleep in the end. The same dream as always repeats, but his time the missing details get filled in.
It starts before Jin goes on the business trip. The company Jin works at got acquired by another big company a few years ago, but wasn’t renamed and changed all that much. Also the part in America where Jin worked stayed separate from another part of the whole company, located mainly in England. However, for some recent development and some new projects, the leaders of the whole company together with the leaders of the separate branches at separate locations discussed working together.
Jin was recently climbing to higher positions where he worked at, and it was known that he wanted to travel to England sometime. Therefore, when someone from their branch was to be sent to England for a few weeks, Jin was the natural choice.
Jin happily accepted, and soon a colleague sent him off at the airport to go to England. Once in England, Jin walked around till the evening in London, where he arrived, till he took a train to Lake district where he was supposed to go. With a taxi he arrived at the big hotel, that he remembered well. The first day in the morning, he arrived at the office and got to meet the new team he was supposed to start working with. He told them multiple things they’ve been working on in America, and he got told a lot of new things the team from England was working on. They got along well, as Jin is quite sociable.
Since things were going better than expected, in a week the initial planning Jin had to do was done. After looking it over with the team, they agreed it was finished ahead of time. Normally he could have gone back to America earlier that way, but since they knew he wanted to come to England to travel as well sometime, and since he would most likely have to come on a business trip in the near future again, some colleagues recommended a few places, and recommended exploring a village where an important branch of the company was located, not necessarily for work, but in case he has to go there on a business trip the next time.
Jin agreed and rented a car for the next few days. The very next day he set off to explore the village the colleagues recommended visiting. From where Jin was, he had to go through some mountain roads to get there. After driving for some time, Jin noticed he’s not going the right way. He must have missed some small road on the way. On top of already being lost, the rental car didn’t want to start up after he stopped to look around for a little while. That’s when he started wandering around, looking for phone signal, hoping to call someone for help. He didn’t succeed, so he decided to just wait by the car, maybe someone else would drive by.
As he was thinking that, a tall figure appeared in the distance. Jin tried to shout, and the figure got closer. As the person got closer, Jin could see it was a beautiful man with long black hair and golden eyes.
‘Sir! Do you know this area by any chance? Please help me out!’
The man heard him, and came closer. However, he stopped a few meters away from Jin, and just silently stared at him, not having said anything.
‘Um, excuse me…’ The man started coming closer again, till he was only a step away, and at this point Jin felt like something was wrong. Jin shrank away towards the car, but the man caught his wrist and pushed him against the car. He mumbled ‘sorry’, before he brought his lips closer to Jin’s neck and bit down. From there on, Jin’s vision started to get blurry. ‘Ah!...’ the man didn’t stop, and Jin didn’t have the strength to resist, as his legs started going soft, his whole body was tingling, and keeping his eyes open was hard.
Soon though, the man let him go, and he slid to the ground. The man, who he now knows as Thorne, stepped away, with a look of shock on his face, covering his own mouth with his hand. Seeing Jin lying on the ground not moving, he started mumbling some unrecognizable things, until he took out his phone, and called someone asking for help. Jin couldn’t hear what exactly he said, he could only hear that his voice was shaking the whole time.
Soon, another man arrived. Silver. He quickly looked over the situation. He held his hand before Jin’s mouth and nose, before walking over to Thorne. ‘I don’t think we can save him. Man, you’re shaking. This is the first time you had an incident like this right? What in hell came over you?’
Thorne just silently stands, looking at Jin who is almost unconscious on the ground. Just before Jin’s eyes close completely, he can see a tear rolling down Thorne’s cheek. After that he can only hear their voices.
What Thorne says he’s not able to understand, as he speaks too softly and shaky.
All he can hear is Silver telling him to go home, and saying that he’ll take care of everything, so not to worry. Then he walks over to Jin, takes of his glasses, and checks whether his eyes are fully closed. After that, Jin is completely unconscious.
That is where the dream ends, and Jin wakes up, with his eyes slightly swollen.
