The room is full of large windows, blood red curtains pulled back with gold and silver intertwined fabric and hooked to the walls to let the sun gleam through. Taras walks around the room with their mother. Taras had thought about his perfect wedding before, not imagining it would be through impersonating his sister.
“We have set up two contracts, one fake where you will sign as Evelyn and a second where you will sign with your legal name. If we are discovered you will still be legally married to him. Moving on. Flowers?”
“Monge red lilacs and white carnations.” Taras’s mother smiled.
“Good choice, cloths?” Tara thought for a minute.
“Mulberry” Taras’s mother nodded as a woman behind them jotted it down.
“My son is to marry! I always thought you would marry a beautiful woman, and have many children, it is a shame. Your sister had to run away from her duty as the princess.” Taras winced at his mothers words, he had to agree he was in this position because of his sister, but she had run away to be with the love of her life. He didn’t have a love for him to run away with, He knew he wouldn’t be able to part with the people either. He wasn’t as strong as his sister.

With the wedding planning for the day over Taras ran to the barracks to find someone to spar with. There he saw a knight his age named Sir Kevin.
“Kev! Time to spar this afternoon?” Kevin looked at the prince with the biggest smile on his face nodding.
“Of course my liege, I always have time to spar with you, how’s the wedding planning going?” Taras sighs as he puts on his armor telling Kevin about everything.
Standing on a field facing each other Kevin and Taras look into each other's eyes and begin their dance. A stab there, a jump, a dodge. Looking on you would think that they were twirling around with silver string the way they both moved quickly and elegantly. It had always been a sight to see, the knights had all sparred with the prince before and every one of them ended in a draw, within the minutes of their battle the world around them dissolves and it is just the two of them, all that matters. This had been one of Taras moments of freedom.
“Seems like a tie once again” Kevin and Taras are standing so close they could feel each other's breath.
“So it seems Sir Kev so it seems” The two set their swords down and took a minute to get a drink of water.
Leaning against a tree next to Kevin Taras can’t help but smile. Kevin was tall and strong. He had short curly black hair and greenish blue eyes. He had a beautiful soul and often would go out with Taras. Kevin was his confidant.
“As you know I’ll be marrying the prince soon, and I can have a bodyguard. We’ve been together for years and I know that I can trust you. So wanna become the future Queen’s bodyguard helping keep the secret?” Taras looked over at Kevin for his answer.
“You know it would be my honor, your highness. How are you going to keep this secret though, it seems like it would be quite hard.” He looks to Kevin, his eyes hinting at something that Taras could not tell completely of what it was.
“Mother’s idea is to just let him have a mistress and raise the baby. I don’t know what I’m actually gonna do, but maybe we could figure it out together. The two of us like when we weren’t allowed to spar with actual swords and found sticks in the woods.” Kevin laughs.
“Of course, I’ll always be with you.”
