Properly fed and more than eager for the festival, the triplets follow the entrance to the house where their traveling cloaks rested on a coat rack, waiting for their owners, three cloaks, in a dark and brilliant shade of green therefore facilitating the camouflage among the trees.
The cloaks were also fastened by a brooch emblazoned with a white rose wrapped in a symbol with three spirals and a rune for each of them representing the three gods of Mérion, the symbol of the capital of the mages kingdoms of Merion, Mirandir.
Both Rox and Lilla were royal knights, while Aglia worked in the town's apothecary which often provided magical supplies and potions to the castle's healers.
They were about to leave when Delfin caught the attention of the three.
"You should leave your brooches at home. You know what I think about losing them.”
The brothers are surprised, because in an involuntary action they had fastened their Alys brooches to their cloaks. A gift from their parents, made with Alys buds. An extremely rare flower named after the goddess of love, who created them.
Its rarity comes from the fact that any Alys created by magic have no power, added to the fact that there are few places where this flower grows.
Each of the brothers had their bud with a different flower color, Rox the blue Alys, known as the temptress, a magnet to magic, Lilla the orange, harmless to mages and elementals but deadly poison to oracles and gods, and Aglia the rose, the most powerful of antidotes, the counterpart of the orange Alys.
They change the brooches and Lilla locks the little jewelry box with a wave like turning a key. Silence hovers for a few moments between the four mages.
“You are especially skilled with protection spells, Lilla.” says Rox, breaking the silence. "You always surprise me with your ease."
“ Thanks. I bet it's my light magic side.”
Properly prepared, the brothers went to the stables beside the house where four horses were waiting for them.
Pars, Luxon and Luma, three brothers as well as their owners had rescued them from a beastly wolf with the help of a mysterious unicorn. And Abella, Delfin's mare, white as pure sunlight except for a six-pointed gray star on her face.
Rox mounts Luxon, a black sorrel with a small white crescent on its head, while Lilla and Aglia still feed Luma and Pars.
“You can come down from there, Rox!” Exclaims Lilla angry, her ice-blue eyes darker. "You can't go out like this without taking care of your horse first!"
Aglia observes both amused, Lilla and Rox were complete opposites therefore they were always fighting over small things, no fight was serious, they became more implications on Lilla's part, as Rox had enviable patience while Lilla was easily irritated.
“I am sorry Lilla. I shouldn't have neglected Luxon's care around a Fauna.”
“Better you apologize!” Lilla stares Rox deep into his eyes and, with her gift, tries to rescue some bad memory to punish him.
-”Sister. Can I borrow the brush?” Interrupts Aglia, aware of the younger twin's tactics. Sometimes Lilla became extremely cruel when angry, as if all her love disappeared.
Lilla looks away from Rox when she realizes she has stopped in mid-action of brushing Luma, brown with white spots and black paws.
"Thanks." Said Rox by telepathy, already affected by some memories Lilla has encountered.
Aglia smiles tenderly, turning her attention to Pars, an orange-brown mare with dark brown paws. Delfin just watched them, ready to intervene.
“Have fun and don't forget about our training at night.” Announces the guardian as the twins leave the stables, her cyan gown perfectly lined as usual making her look like an embodiment of her element.
“Training?” Lilla tugs on Luma's reins in surprise.
“Yes, or have you forgotten what we agreed? You need to improve your blind fighting skills.”
"We'll be back before nightfall."
