Alex grabbed my hand and we both walked into the house, as soon as the doors opened I was finally able to hear and see the blasting music and lights. She guided us through, greeting her friends along the way but continuing to stay by me like she said she would. "What do you want to drink?" Alex asked as we reached the kitchen. I've never drunk alcohol before unless I count the time I snuck and drank some of my parents' wine, which was gross.
"Anything," I answered back sitting on one of the stools surrounding the table. They probably wouldn't have any non-alcohol drinks.
Alex nodded her head and grabbed a jug from out the fridge, I couldn't see what she poured me because of how dark the house was. "Here," she said, giving me a cup of whatever she had poured.
I hesitantly took the cup, I mean I don't have to drink all of it right? I quickly took a tiny sip of the drink, "Huh, this is fruit punch?" I mumbled looking up to a smirking Alex.
"Mhm, did you really think I'd give you alcohol?" she said with a smirk, she walked back over behind me, wrapping her arms around my waist "Your alpha knows you better than that." I smiled and drank more of the punch to hide the blush that was starting to grow on my face, even though she wouldn't be able to see it because of how dark the house is.
Me and Alex spend a few minutes talking and drinking in the kitchen before some people I've never seen before call her over, "I'll be right back." She says and leaves after I give her a nod. I wait in the kitchen for Alex to come back, every few minutes more people come, the house becomes more crowded, and the music becomes louder.
After about an hour I decide that the light and pheromones are becoming too much and that I wanna go home, I stand up and turn around to get Alex but when I look to the place she was at with those people she's no longer there. I frantically start to wander around, trying to find her, I check room after room and up the stairs but everything just becomes more and more crowded.
As I make it back to the first floor I rush for an exit, starting to feel light-headed. Luckily I only fumble around for a few seconds before I find a door leading to the backyard. I go into the backyard and fumble around for my phone in my pocket, after I get it I immediately call Alex. The phone rings a few times then goes to voicemail.
"C'mon," I grumble calling again but the same thing happens, I try over and over again until I just can't handle it. I slide down onto the floor, water begins to well up in my eyes from my irregular breathing making everything blurry. This is embarrassing it's just a party. I should be able to walk around at a party without Alex being around.
I cradle my legs into my chest and put my head on my knees, trying to drown out the loud music and calm myself down. The more I try to calm down the more frantic I start to get, I just sit there not knowing what to do. I never really bothered to practice breathing exercises for situations like this, I always assumed Alex would be there to calm me down because so far she had been.
"Hey... Cupcake is that you?" a familiar voice says making me jump back in surprise. I look up coming face to face with Sam, Her brows were furrowed and her emerald eyes seemed to hold concern.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm not gonna do anything." she said in a soft tone "Do you want me to take you out of here." she said giving me a friendly smile. I thought about it and was about to reject but after hearing a crash sound from inside I quickly nodded my head, "Okay well, do you want me to carry you?"
I shook my head no, quickly getting back up to my feet but almost falling because of how shaky my legs had become. Sam caught me with ease and held me up by my arms, "Are you sure you don't want me to carry you?" she asked again.
I looked up at her, "I-I can walk." I said shakily, slowly letting go of her arm.
She grabbed my hand and placed it back on her arm, "You can use me as a crutch." she stated, I didn't object.
She walked me through a gate in the backyard all the way to a red mustang that was parked in the driveway in front of the house.
After helping me into the passengers' side she went around to the drivers' side and got in, "Do you want me to take you home? I can drive you there if you'd like, just give me your address." I looked up at her hesitant to give her my address since we are technically still strangers and she's an alpha while I'm an omega. "Don't worry I won't do anything to you, I like alphas, not omegas," she said reading my thoughts.
"Oh, that's not why-" I tried to deny through my heating face.
"Don't worry cupcake, giving a random alpha your address is something you should be hesitant to do." she said with a laugh "I'd be more concerned if you weren't hesitant." I looked away to hide my flushed face before actually giving her my address, in a matter of minutes we were out the long driveway on the way to my house.
"Hey, what were you doing outside by yourself? Did you not come with anyone?" Sam suddenly asked after minutes of silence.
I sighed, "I came to the party with Alex."
"Your alpha?" she said, I looked at her shocked that she knew that, but I still nodded my head to confirm.
"Ye-yeah, we were sitting and drinking when she got pulled away by some people. After an hour or so I started to become overwhelmed so I turned around to ask her to leave but she was gone." I said sadly, still slightly embarrassed by my obvious dependency on her.
"Do you think she left me on purpose?" I asked with a sniff, Sam looked at me and I noticed her eyes slightly widen "Was I boring her?" I mumbled quietly, more to myself this time. Before I knew it silent tears were sliding down my cheeks. Whether I like it or not I'm an omega, it's normal for me to be dependent on my alpha and it's normal for me to feel sensitive about things like this.
I felt a large hand on my head, I looked up to Sam and used the back of my hand to wipe at the tears with another sniff. "I'm sure she didn't mean to leave you, she probably just went to the restroom while you weren't looking and then couldn't find you when she came back," she said, ruffling my hair in a reassuring manner, I didn't bring up the fact that she didn't answer any of my calls and instead nodded my head.
"Ye-yeah your right," I said, I slowly began to lean my head against the window. I was starting to feel tired, If I was this sleepy after two hours how would I be able to stay for the entire thing next time? If I'm ever invited again...
"You get some sleep, I'll wake you up when we get there," Sam said lifting her hand off my head, I nodded my head as I slowly began to doze off against the cold window.
