BEAU SPENT HIS NEXT SHIFT at LoveStruck in full on alert mode. His heart did somersaults every time the door chimed. He dropped many drinks and mixed up orders, making some costumers upset. He was a total mess, even Tommy was frustrated with him and that was rare occurrence for the male manager.
Beau couldn't concentrate on anything and with him so distracted Tommy made a decision after work.
"Go home, Beau." Tommy sighed again, watching as Beau almost dropped a mug filled with hot coffee. They were done for the day but Beau was still on edge and cleaning the mess he made. Throughout the day he kept looking at the door to spot when Mylo would walk in. Yet the Asian beauty never did. This made Beau slightly disappointed. His feelings were conflicted and all over the place. He wanted to see Mylo but he also didn't want to see him because of what he did. The little message at the bottom of the cup was cute but now it was his nightmare. He could feel the exhaustion in his bones from how tense he's been the past few days.
Beau cleaned up the little spill of coffee on the table; he could feel Tommy's eyes on him. Guilty Beau could barely look at his manager. "Go home and rest. I'll give you some time off. You've been working almost every day now." Beau was about to refuse but Tommy cut him off. "No, I don't want to see you for anymore shift this week. I'll call Sasha and if she doesn't want to work I'll fire her and hire someone else." Tommy frowned; he was looking at the shift schedule. Beau also looked at it he could see mostly his and Betty's name on the list.
"It's too much for you and me! She deserves to get fired for how she's been this past month." Tommy's frustration could be seen clearly on his face. "What are you doing not packing up. Go home, Beau. I beg you." The pleading expression on Tommy's face made Beau feel pity for the poor older male. So he picked up his school bag and the rest of his things and walked home after saying bye much to Tommy's relief.
One the way home, he would pass by university students and he would sneak a look at each group of them if he could spot the beauty that kept him awake at night. The long black haired university student was all he could think about. It was almost frustrating.
After the third time almost tripping over nothing he held his breath and calmed down his fast beating heart to stop him from embarrassing himself further. Pulling out his phone and earphones, he listens to his music to distract himself. No matter who he passed by he kept his gaze on his dirty shoes.
He remained that way till he reached the corner of his street to his house. Maybe he should've looked up when he was turning the corner where he couldn't see the other side but he was too preoccupied with his thoughts.
So when he slammed into a wall hard, falling down on his bum groaning while rubbing his nose, he should've expected it with his damn clumsiness. He sat on the ground letting out a quiet groan in pain from the impact.
"Shit! Sorry, sorry! Are you okay?" A male voice with a slight accent cursed out.
Beau looked up from between his hands rubbing his face. His eyes widened at the sight of the very tall and muscular guy watching with an apologetic expression. Beau noticed the blond was wearing training clothes which means he was running when they practically ran into each other, well him at least.
"Let me help you up. Don't get up too fast." He reached out his hand to help Beau up. Beau let him, he fell pretty hard and his bum hurts and his dizzy from the sudden collision.
"I'm okay, sorry. I should have paid attention where I was going." Beau said after getting helped up from the ground. He looked around for his things finding his phone on the ground with a cracked screen and his earphones with it. Bending down he picked them up cursing slightly under his breath.
"No, I'm sorry too. I should’ve checked before I kept running like a beast." The blond noticed the cracked phone. "Oh, no. I ruined your phone too." The blond man put his hand on his head; Beau could tell he felt bad.
Beau took a proper look at the now panicking blonde male. The guy was indeed tall and muscular; he could tell he was a sporty type of person with the way he held himself. The guy's hair was slightly ruffled from his run and from the way he was running his finger through them. "Oh, I'm sorry!" The blond apologized again, his eyes meeting Beau with a saddened look.
A tiny smile slipped on Beau face at the sight of the guy's puppy like behavior.
"It's fine, really. It gives me an excuse to buy a new one." Beau let out awkward chuckle, smiling to reassure the stranger. The blond paused and his panicked expression faded away at the sight of Beau smile. The blond cleared his throat and smiling back. "Are you sure?" He still asked worried. "I can pay for the damage if it helps and I'm really sorry for running you over." The blond made a puppy dog expression filled with regret and guilt.
"Yes, it’s all good. It's as much as my fault as it was yours." Beau shrugged off, inside he was panicking about how much it would cost him to repair the phone. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it even if it means missing out on the guy paying for the broken phone. He'll just buy a second hand phone or use his saved up cash.
The blond pulled out his own phone and held it up to him, Beau looked at him confused. "Just in case, can I have you contact info? So I can make sure you’re okay later?" The blond male insisted, holding the phone towards the startled Beau.
"M-my contact info?" That surprised Beau. It was the first time someone asked him for his contact info. Well, a stranger that he didn't even know their name. "Is that okay?" The blond asked again seeing his hesitation but didn't back away just yet. Beau slowly took the phone and put in his number and name in.
"If it helps you feel better. I'm Beau, by the way." Beau gave him a shy small smile handing back the phone. The blond let out a sigh of relief when he took the phone and smiled gladly.
"Oh, right!" The blond slammed his palm on his face. "I'm Luca. Nice meeting you!" Beau and Luca shared a small laugh finding the whole thing funny now.
Beau found the whole situation funny, almost like a drama you'd watch on TV. It took his mind of his negative thoughts for the moment and he was kind of glad the blond male ran him over. Although, not so much for his bum. It still hurt.
"Oh shoot! I have to go if I want to make it before curfew. I'll see you around, Beau?" The blond sighed looking at the time on his watch. Looking at the time Beau almost cursed himself, seeing his own curfew had passed.
Putting away his things quickly, he fastened his bag pack. "I have to rush too. I am so dead." He let out a groan but smiled at Luca. "It was really nice to meet you Luca." Beau waved at the blond before taking off not really waiting for the blonds answer. He was already late and way passed curfew.
When he made it home his aunt's car was in the driveway meaning she knew he wasn't home before curfew. Opening the door using his key and making his way inside, the first to greet him is his adorable dog. The Irish terrier was rubbing on him and jumping in excitement as soon as he saw him.
"Hi, Toto. How was your day?" Beau bended down and petted the cute dog, the sweet dog let out several ruffs as if answering his owner.
"Care to tell me why your home so late?" His aunt voice snarky spoke, she walked out from the living room wearing her usual robes and slippers holding a mug filled with tea and some sort of alcohol.
"Hi aunt May." Beau greeted the tired woman. "I had a slight delay at work." He made an excuse since he didn't want her to know about what actually happened. She'll blow things out of proportion and demand money in compensation from Luca. He didn't want that.
The woman let out a sigh. "Okay. Just text me next time." she grumbled; She was probably too tired to make a big deal out of him being late. "I'm going to bed, Go eat something. I made lasagna, it's in the fridge." The woman said walking away to her bedroom.
Beau let out a sigh in relief and went to the kitchen with his dog following behind him. He grabbed a plate from the top cabinets, grabbed the lasagna that had a small piece left and heats it up. Toto followed his every move which made Beau almost fall or step on the dog's tail.
"Let's go sleep, Toto."
Beau made his way around the school hallway to the art classroom. His teacher asked him to come by the classroom during lunch and since it's a favor for his favorite teacher he didn't refuse. James wanted to come with him but once Maelle called him he went to her with a love struck expression on his tan face. It made Beau grinned at his friend.
Arriving at the art classroom he knocked and when he got permission to go in he opened the door. Mr. Vince stood in front of a big canvas staring at it all serious. Beau waited silently for the teacher to notice him, he knew better to disturb the male teacher when he was like that. Jaslene learned that the hard way.
"Mr. Hoffmann, what do you think?" Mr. Vince asked him with a small sigh. The teacher looked blissfully at the painting on the canvas. Beau took a proper look; he noticed it was actually a portrait painting of a very beautiful man. The man was surrounded by his own long black hair; he had a white shirt on that was open so you could see his chest but that wasn’t what caught Beau’s eyes. What caught Beau attention were the man's eyes. The young man’s eyes stared at the painter with a mysterious smile on his face yet the eyes were portraying an emotion he couldn't quite pinpoint. It was breathtaking.
The man in the painting looked familiar but he couldn't pinpoint from where he saw this person.
"...Breathtaking." The word escaped his mouth before he could stop them. The teacher nodded agreeing with him. Mr. Vince pulled a chair out for him and Beau sat down next to the male teacher still staring at the painting. "Yes, this student did a splendid job, I almost cried when I first saw it."
"A student did this?" Beau asked astonished. A student his age or maybe even younger did such a breathtaking portrait. He almost felt envy yet the emotion didn't stay, he admired such talent. He glanced down to his own hands and clenched them into fists.
"Well, not a student from this school. At least he isn't anymore. He sent it to me. It’s a present." Mr. Vince smiled a sense of nostalgia settling in his gaze as he glanced at the painting.
"Right so, I called you hear because I wanted to let you know there will be another art competition. It will have several categories and I believe you should apply but it's up to you." Mr. Vince told him. "Just let me know so I can help you apply. It's starts in two months." Mr. Vince added and handed him a pamphlet with all the information about the competition.
Beau took it slowly, staring deeply at the big fat letters on the front page. It almost taunted him.
"I'll think about it." Beau responded.
