Karma(Vigilante Deku)

Chapter 7: Child hunt. Part 1

Chapter 7: Child hunt. Part 1

Nov 27, 2021

It's 9pm and already dark out. In the corner of a small room sits a skinny figure, furiously hitting the keys of his keyboard, buried in his research. The computer illuminates his face, the only source of light in the tiny room as everything near reflectes various shades of colour.

Switching through several different websites online Toshinori tries and fails to find the information he's been looking for. Whoever had told him that you could find practically anyone easily on the internet in this day and age was a damn liar.

He was looking for the kid from the villian attack and he's been looking for quite a while now, but it seemed to prove harder than he thought. He had tried looking at every school in the area to try and pinpoint the one he goes to by his uniform but it seems that most of the schools in Musutafu wore gakurans so it was impossible to figure out which specific school he attended. Toshinori had then tried looking through all the school websites in the area hoping that he might find something but that also proved futile.

Eventually Toshinori gave up on trying to figure out technology and called detective Tsukauchi who then proceeded to come over to make sure the number one hero wasn't doing anything too creepy.

Soon enough there was a knock on Toshinori's door and he went over to open it. Like expected, Tsukauchi was there waving as soon as the door opened and swiftly made his way inside before getting comfortable.

"Okay, so tell me what exactly your trying to find." He says arms crossed on a chair opposite Toshinori.

"I'm trying to find the boy from the villian attack." He answers as he makes his way back to his desk and his research. "I was thinking of giving him One for All."

Tsukauchi freezes. "Is that wise." He says, raising an eyebrow. "I mean you don't even know him."

"That's precisely why I'm looking for him, if he's really like I thought he would be then he's got all the qualities I'm looking for."

Tsukauchi simply nods, a look of uncertainty still evident on his face. "It's your quirk I guess, at the end of the day it's your decision."

"Thank you." Toshinori says. "But I'm afraid if I don't find him they'll be no point in that decision."

The detective sighs but eventually gives in. Letting go of the subject he stalks over to the hero's side, leaning over his shoulder to take a look at the hero's computer screen.

Staring silently for a few seconds at the pure chaos of the screen the detective looks over at Toshinori bewildered before asking, "Why didn't you just search up his name?"

"Wait that will work!" Toshinori gasps before scrambling to get onto a news article of the previous days attack.

Tsukauchi held back the urge to facepalm, instead sighing as he stops the hero from wasting his time. "I already know his name and school, I checked before coming here."

"Really?" Toshinori beamed. "Your such a good friend Tsukauchi, I should have called you from the beginning."

"The next time you're trying to find someone via the Internet, I ask that you please do. We don't need you accidentally stalking someone, it'll make you seem like a pedophile." Tsukauchi remarks.

Toshinori sweat drops as he rubs the back of his head, slightly embarrassed. He laughs it off turning back to his computer and closing all the irrelevant tabs. Tsukauchi looks around for a pen and paper while he does this, after easily finding some he writes the name and school of the boy from the attack. He hands it to the hero who inspects it.

"Aldera Junior High" Toshinori reads out loud from the paper. He looks up at the detective and smiles - or as much as a smile you can really call his expression - and thanks him.

With the important stuff out of the way, Toshinori offers to make tea and the detective happily accepts. They stay talking for the rest of the day, Toshinori avoiding all mention of his futile research on the internet, and Tsukauchi happily going with it.

Katsuki grumbles as his alarm rings. Looking to his side he finds that the mop of green hair who was next to him the night before was now gone. He sighs, getting up as he switches off his alarm. Katsuki hadn't gotten much sleep because of a certain someone, he'd spent most of the night looking over him but then when it's morning he leaves without even saying a word.

It was the middle of the night and Katsuki had been asleep when the nerd fucking kicked him in the stomach. That had pissed him off, but when he had fully awoken he realised the nerd was having a nightmare like he usually does. Katsuki sighed as he tapped Deku lightly in an attempt to wake him up, it took a few minutes but Deku woke up eventually, and when he did he was in tears.

It was the same nightmare that Deku has nearly every night. You would think he would grow use to it by now, but every time he would just feel worse, feeling so guilty every time he remembered that girl.

He didn't even remember how she looked like, Deku had told him, he only remembered the hair. Every night he would see a distorted face and no matter how much he tried it would never go into focus, the only part of the girl he could ever see clearly was the hair, the hair that shone bright like the sun, then would get brighter and brighter till he could see nothing else.

Katsuki has heard this dream enough times to know what happens by heart. Her hair would get bright and Deku would no longer be able to see, and in that moment of vulnerability he would feel the slight tickle of hair brushing against his face. He would hear her voice, her scream and each and every time he'd reach out, but as soon as he touched her his vision would clear and there laying on the ground would be the corpse of the girl, face distorted but everything else so very clear. A pool of blood would form and slowly morph into the words 'I'll always be with you' as the girl layed there still and quite.

It was always the same thing and it worried Katsuki how often he got the nightmares. He doubted that the nerd actually ever got much sleep, especially since most of the time he slept in this one abandoned building not that far away, which was prone to cause nightmares.

Every night that Deku would sleep with him Katsuki never got that much sleep, once the nightmares began he was to worried to leave Deku alone. He would watch him for most of the night, holding him close and making sure that the nerd always knew he was there, that nothing could hurt him. Sometimes holding him close made things worse, sometimes it made things better, either way Deku needed serious help but it's not like he could exactly get that.

Katsuki would stay up all night looking for solutions, looking for a way to stop his boyfriends nightmares but he could never come up with anything better than to be there with him. He couldn't think of anything that is until that bastard underground hero came into the picture. Katsuki had never actually met him, only heard about him from Deku, he didn't trust the guy but he knew Deku did wholeheartedly so he couldn't complain. He had to admit that Deku has been a little bit happier since meeting the underground hero, it meant that it was no longer just the two of them against the world, but now they had someone else to support and help them.

Katsuki didn't know what to think of Eraserhead. He'd always heard good things about him from Deku, but he still didn't know if he could really trust him. At this point though, Katsuki was desperate, he hated seeing Deku constantly trembling in his sleep, always in tears when he wakes up, dreading that moment when the cycle would just start all over again.

It would be incredibly hard for Deku to be able to get a therapist since his identity has to remain secret, so Eraserhead really is the only option. There was only one way though that Katsuki could possibly think of to get in contact with him, and even if he did his boyfriend can see his memories so doing this behind his back would be futile. There was no other choice though, Izuku would always say that he was fine even though he wasn't, and they both clearly knew that. He hated the idea of bothering others with his problems, or making them scared of him, feels like such a weird thing to worry about when he's a literal murder.

Katsuki sighs, somehow he's already gotten through his morning routine without registering a second of it. Now he's stood in the kitchen, sighing again he goes to get some eggs so he can make breakfast. Cooking helps him forget about everything for a bit, but all to soon he's done and the thoughts rush back to him.

Finishing his food it turns exactly 8 o'clock and he proceeds to start making his way to school like usual. The morning so far is exactly the same as it would be any other, waking up, getting into his morning routine and going to school. Everything was normal now but Katsuki knew that soon it wouldn't be, he knew once he got to school he wouldn't have enough time to think about Deku's problems because he'll be too busy dealing with the rumors and stories and the questions.

Katsuki dreaded every step he took towards the school. After getting attacked like that and it being all over the news, the people at school were bound to swarm him with questions. Atleast he had escaped from the villian himself though, that was one thing to brag about amongst the chaos.

Turning the corner, the school finally comes into sight. The entrance is busy as hundreds of kids flood in through the gate, some laughing with their friends, others quite and lonely. Katsuki sighs for what seems like the hundredth time that day but certainly won't be the last. Taking a deep breath he trudges to the entrance, ignoring the stares and whispers as he goes by.

As he gets nearer to the entrance the whispers just intensify. The students split in half, like moses splitting the red sea, as they make a path for him to go through, not wanting to get close to him like he was some kind of disease. Katsuki happily walks through but the path only brings him to the attention of the people who hadn't seen him before. Now everyone is staring and whispering and it's making Katsuki crazy.

His classroom feels like an eternity away but he just wants to get there and make all the whispers stop. But then he does, he arrives, the whispers not as much as before but still there as all his classmates look at him unsure of what to do.

Ignoring his classmates stares Katsuki walks up to his desk and sits down. Every second he can feel their stares following his every move not leaving for even a second. He can't escape and now he feels confined, he can't breath, he's suffocating, he can feel the slime, its ingulfing him, its-

"Yo Katsuki you okay?"

He looks around, the stares haven't ceased but now they're molded in with looks of worry. Looking to his right he sees one of the guys he hangs out with, their hand clasping his shoulder in panic.

"Get off me idiot." He says, shoving the extra off before standing up and turning to face the rest of his class. "And would you all stop staring at me, I'm not a fucking circus."

The extras all stopped staring as soon as they got called out and went back to their shitty lives. Soon enough the teacher came in and started class and everything was back to normal - except for the occasional concerned glances some of the extras sent his way.

It was when lunch came around that all hell broke lose.

Katsuki had spaced out and had no idea when the teacher had even left but now he's being bombarded by teenagers and no one to get them under control. Knowing this shitty school, Katsuki doubted the teachers would try to get them under control in the first place, probably would just stand there trying to get the gossip, it wouldn't be surprising if they were standing outside eavesdropping right now.

No one talked for a while just stared, a complete fucking repeat of the morning. It pissed Katsuki off and he didn't have the patience to deal with this shit. He shouted at the extras just like before in hopes that he won't end up having another panic attack infront of fucking everyone. Anyone who so much as brought that up was fucking dead. Eventually though someone did start talking causing a chain reaction of questions. Got Katsuki thinking that their stares were ten times better, atleast then they were silent.

Their questions just made things overwhelming, they were all talking over each other and Katsuki couldn't decipher a thing that anyone was saying. His lack of control of the situation only made Katsuki feel even more confined than he did before and it was annoying. It was as if anything, even completely unrelated, could trigger the memories. How could Katsuki ever become the number one hero if he was constantly being traumatised by a small incident like this. This whole thing just proved how weak he is and it infuriated him.

The anger just kept bubbling up. The more questions the more it swelled and his self hatred grew, his resolve faltered and he could no longer hold in his anger.

The questions continued, no sign of stopping, even if they did it would be to late.

Katsuki exploded.

Since the arrival of All Might crime rates have decreased significantly in Japan, but there's still one problem hero's are unable to do anything about. Corruption in the government has led to the increase of child trafficking, so much so that any child is lucky to not have been kidnapped by the age of 6.

What hero's are unable to do though is easily done by the vigilante Karma, a hero to the people. Unbound by the law he can freely try to put an end to this rein of terror, that is if he doesn't get caught.
