I quickly got back into base and began grabbing anything important, the small amount of food we had, the gun and overall anything we would need. 

“Guys hurry, pack up anything important. Somethings coming!”.

“What is it?” Emma asked. 

“A wave, a big one. It's gonna kill us, let's go!”. 

Emma had a horrified look on her face, everyone did.

“Don't just stand there, move!” I yelled. 

I heard a loud crack, I looked down to see the ground below me literally breaking apart! I had to go, but Jason!

“I got you,” Harry said. 

He went over and picked up Jason, it seemed like it was pretty easy for him. I was surprised he did that, I thought he would wanna kill Jason, it would have been a good chance for Harry to get rid of him, before he turned into one of them.

Emma finished grabbing what she needed, and we all ran out the base. 

Seconds after our exit, it came crumbling down as it fell apart. The base we worked so hard to get, the pathetic little hideout we called home, it was gone. 

But we didn't have time to whine, we had to run. The huge wave behind us was quick, but so were we. It was clear we had the speed advantage, that was a relief. 

“Where are we going?” Harry asked.

“Just keep running for now” I yelled. 

“Parasite- assistance, Parasite”. 

Damn it! 

“What was that?” Jason asked. 

“A Parasite, forgot to mention they talk now”.

We all stopped, I couldn't tell where the sound came from, but just in case I pulled out my bat. Woosh! Yep, something was moving, it was close. I could hear it, the noise sounded like screeching wheels, a sound we all knew too well.

The only problem was it was already dark, a Parasite could jump us at any moment. 

“Guys, let's keep moving,” I said. Everyone nodded and we ran.

“Parasite- I am Parasite”.

We all stopped again, this time the sound came from up ahead, a place that looked like a former garage. It looked like a bomb site now but I mean, what didn't at this point?

“Guys run, the wave!”. 

Harry began sprinting fast, Emma did the same and I followed along. This would be a problem, we couldn't go back, and we couldn't go up ahead. 

“Take the left, we can find a place to hide” Emma whispered. 

I turned my body towards the place she was pointing at and I ran straight to it. There were a couple boulders scattered around, they were surrounding a pretty large building which was probably full of Parasites. 

We all bent down and did what we could to stay hidden. 

“What are we gonna do? If any of the big ones come, we're dead” Harry said. 

“Use the walkie-talkie, we can contact Toby. I bet he has a place he’s staying at. Going to him sucks but he’s the person we can trust the most. I'm not saying we should work with him for his plan or anything, we just need to get somewhere safe for now” Emma whispered while giving a nervous look. 

She was right, he was our best option for now. So, I picked up the Walkie talkie and began speaking, 

“Toby. it's Leo, our base, it was destroyed. A wave ran it over. It's still behind us, Parasites are out here too. Can you help?”. 

A muffled voice shot out the speakers, it was him. “Leo, I'll help, sure, but are you guys gonna help me with what I asked for?”. 

I looked at the others, it was clear we all still had mixed feelings about the entire thing. 

“Can we talk about that later?” I asked with a less serious voice than intended.

“No, as one of you said before, unless you have something to offer, you're not worth helping”. 

I sighed, I didn't know what to say to this guy. I was about to speak again when Harry snatched the Walkie talkie from me.

“It's Harry, we’ll help you, don't worry. We just need a place to stay for now, hurry”.

We all looked at Harry, he wanted to work with Toby, but for the time being, I could tell he lied just to get him to help us. 

It was a good move for now, “fine. I have a tracker on the walkie-talkie, I know where you guys are. I'll be there, just don't die till then” Toby explained, his voice seemed cheerful but pissed.

Harry put the walkie-talkie away and looked at us, “what now?”. 

Jason coughed up blood before responding, “The wave stopped, look” he said as he pointed behind us. 

I turned around, he was right. 

“That's one less thing to worry about, now we have to hide and just keep our heads on” Emma said. 

BOOM!

“I am Parasite- would you like assistance?”. 

A light flashed in front of us, “damn it move! It's here” I yelled as I began going back into a panic attack. 

Harry rushed to pick up Jason as the rest of us began sprinting. The Parasite had a lot of charge, that meant it could trail us fast for a while.

I was able to outrun these things before, but that was because they barely had any battery at that time. 

This one was a different story, it was chasing us fast, and it would catch up soon at this rate. Yea, we were probably screwed. 

There wasn't any chance we were about to outrun this thing, even with my unrealistic speed I was too slow. 

“We're gonna have to fight it, this thing will catch us like this,” I said. 

Harry took a peek behind us, “alright. Then we fight it”.
