Lyla looks back at the crowd as she stuffs her phone into her pocket, many were cheering but saddened by the sudden loss of the other.
"Hey, just as a public vote, should I confess to her or not?" Many cheer in response which in terms is usually a yes. "Ight, I'll tell her when I get back to New York but anyways, big thank you to Comedy Central for having me on tonight and I love you guys and have a good night CINCINNATI!" Cheers erupt from the audience as she bows, smiling, waving, all the works before leaving the stage.
Once she leaves the stage and hands back the mic while trying to dodge interviewers she tries to call Jenna, making her way to her dressing room as the phone rings against her ear.
Come on, pick up... please.
The call connects and she slightly smiles even though the other can't see it.
"Hey Jen."
"Don't "hey" me."
"Mean." The girl fake scoffs, making the other girl giggle a little bit.
"Shut it, anyway aren't you supposed to be doing a show?"
"Nope, it just ended, and I told you I'd call you after it ended."
"Alright, fine. Also, do you really want the real reason why I put on your hoodie?"
"It'd be nice."
"It's because I miss you, I miss what we used to be."
"Best friends?"
"No, what we were in grade eight and what I was afraid of becoming because I wasn't mature enough nor ready for yet."
"A couple?" Jenna sighs.
"Yes."
"You really miss me?" The comedian smirks, tapping her fingers against the glossed table she sat at.
"Of course I do, your dogs have also been going crazy honestly and it got me thinking."
"That's them, hey, if you really want to try dating then-"
"I do, I want to be with you, I want us to be a thing."
"Then by the power invested in me, I pronounce us a couple." A giggle enters the call from the girl currently in New York.
"You still love me?"
"I've always been into you." You could hear the grin in Lyla's voice as she says this.
"Shut up." Silence endures the call, but this was a comfortable silence, a nice silence.
"You'll have to give up my hoodie if you're going to continue stealing my clothes."
"But I don't want to." Jenna whines, smiling after.
"Fine, you can steal anything but the lemon shirt. I still like the lemonted jokes."
"Alright." Another silence.
"Jenna."
"Yeah?"
"You want to come to Columbus for my next show?"
"But what about the d-"
"Victoria last minute canceled from what she told me before the show, she won't be coming to Columbus since she got caught up in work but she'll still be coming to New York."
"Then alright, I'll go."
"Yay! Now I booked you a flight for four in the afternoon tomorrow since it'll take an hour to come here and we'd have an hour to be by ourselves."
"Lyla I don't want to tell the others, hell, the fans, that we're together, could you do that for me?"
"Alright but as long as I can announce it later this year in London."
"Deal."
"I need to go back to the hotel now, the others are packing up for our overnight trip to Columbus probably as we speak so I'll talk to you tomorrow at least."
"Okay."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
The line stops and the call ends. Jenna feels warm and giddy, Lyla feels proud and nervous, both at least, are finally together after nine dreaded years apart.
