Acalea: The Goddess of Love

First Encounter

First Encounter

Dec 01, 2021

After being stuck in traffic for a good half an hour Angelica returned home. It was a small flat with a living room, a shower room and a bedroom. She sat down on her sofa and turned her television on, putting a soap opera on. She later laid down on her sofa, not even really watching what was on the television and instead just looked at her phone: nobody had texted her back. Later on there was a couple kissing together, seemingly looking very happy. Angelica turned off the television and started crying, going over to her computer on a nearby desk. She went over to look at her emails: there wasn’t anything other than a load of adverts inside.
She went away from her computer afterwards, going over to her bedroom.
She owned a double bed with red and white bed sheets on it, she sat down on one side looking at the other side, she was rubbing it with her hand. Later she just lied down with her eyes half closed, tears were rolling down her face. All of a sudden her doorbell rang, she got out of her bed and went over to answer the door. She opened it to find a cheerful looking woman with blonde hair wearing a red garment. It almost looked like a Roman’s toga, but adapted for a woman to wear.
‘Hello there!’ she greeted ‘May I come in?’ Angelica looked puzzled.
‘Who are you?’ she asked.
‘Oh! I’m… here to solve your relationship problems!’
‘Uhhhhh… OK. I… didn’t ask for this’
‘You need it though, Angelica!’ Angelica gasped, loudly.
;How do you know my name?!’
‘Oh, ermmm… I’m… great at knowing these things! Honestly, just let me in! You won’t regret it!’ Angelica sighed.
‘I think I know a con artist when I see one’
‘What? I’m not a con artist! I can help you, honest!’ Angelica sighed again.
‘Fine’ she opened the door, letting the woman in. .
‘Oh, really? Thank you!’ she went inside of Angelica’s apartment, having a look around. ‘This is a nice little place, Angelica’
‘Really? I always thought it was a dump. By the way, please call me “Angie”.’
‘Oh, OK, Angie’
‘Thank you. Would you like a cup of tea or coffee?’
‘Uhhh, yeah, yes please! I’ll have a cup of tea’
‘OK’ Angelica put her kettle on, later the boiling water into a teapot with flowers on it ‘So, who are you, anyway?’
‘I’m Acalea’ (she prounenced the name as “Ak-a-lay-a”. Angelica turned around, staring at her.
‘What? I’ve never heard that name before’
‘Nah, it’s a funny name’
‘It kind of sounds Roman. Come to think of it, you’re dressed a lot a like a Roman, is that just a costume or something?’
‘Nah, I wear stuff like this all the time’
‘What? Seriously?!’
‘Yes!’ Angelica gave her the cup of tea that she made. Acalea took a sip of it, despite the fact that it was obviously boiling hot. ‘You know, it’s interesting to have something from your world. Everything where I’m from is so perfect. Too perfect. It’s like it’s all the same. This is really refreshing’ Angelica had a horrified look on her face.
‘What did you just say?’
‘Your tea is lovely. It’s because it was made by human hands’
‘No, before that! What do you mean by “my world”?’
‘Oh, I see. Well, to put it simply, I’m not from here’
‘What?’ Acalea shook her head. She stood up from the table and looked at Angelica in the eyes.
‘To tell you the truth, I’m not actually human’ Angelica looked dumfounded.
‘What?’
‘I’m… ahem, a goddess’ Angelica looked stunned.
‘No way…’ she muttered
‘Yes way, Angie. Do you want me to prove it?’
‘Uhhh… no, you don’t have to do that. I believe you’
‘Good’ Acalea sat back down to finish off her cup of tea. ‘Is this not proof enough?’
‘Oh yes! You drunk that without even flinching!’
‘Yep. I’m a goddess, I didn’t feel any pain. Mind you I could have if I wanted to’
‘OK’ Angelica sat down on the table ‘So, you said you were going to help me solve my relationship problems’
‘Yeah?’
‘I don’t want them solved. I’m done with the guy I was dating. I don’t want to see him ever again’
‘Oh that’s fine, Angie! I just said that as a little introduction. What I could do instead is help you find everlasting love’
‘“Everlasting love”?’
‘Yes! I want you to be with someone who will last you a lifetime. Someone you can have a family with. Someone you could share your dreams with. Someone where you can just be yourself and be happy for a lifetime’
‘That would be lovely, Acalea’ Angelica sighed ‘But it never works out that way’
‘It can! And it must start with you!’
‘Huh?’
‘First of all, here’s a little question for you: what is love, anyway? And why do we love?’ Angelica didn’t answer, she just looked puzzled ‘Love is a force of nature that we all have. It radiates in us all, and=’
‘Wait, “we”? I thought you weren’t human!’
‘Oh no, we goddesses love, too! It’s one of the most wonderful things anyone can enjoy! Anyway, I was saying it’s a force everyone has, and it binds everyone together, as a way of protecting each other. In fact, I can say I’m doing all of this for you as an act of love right now!’
‘OK’
‘Here’s the thing: your world is always on the brink of destruction, and yet it never really goes into that phase, do you know why that is?’
‘Love’
‘Yes! Exactly! You all care about each other, and that’s why it never happens, and hopefully, it never happens! You see, I once heard someone say that luck prevented a nuclear war. I disagree. It was love. Because the person who was about to press the big red button at had a love for something, he thought his actions would be catastrophic. In the end, it was simply love that stopped that from happening’
‘OK, Acalea. I get it now’
‘Good. What I’m saying Angie is that love is crucial to our survival as a species. You might think that love is simply a chemical reaction to cause animals to reproduce’
‘Well, I guess it kind of is’
‘But there’s more to it than that! When the baby animal is born, what does the mother do?’
‘Oh, I see! She looks after the baby!’
‘And what causes that to happen?’
‘Love!’
‘Exactly!’ For the first time in the entire day Angelica had a smile on her face. ‘So, do you see its importance in life?’
‘Yes, yes I do!’
‘And the thing is, Angie, you should never feel bad about having that feeling. It’s essential to the survival of your species’
‘OK’ the two were silent for a little while ‘Acalea?’
‘Yes?’
‘It’s all nice that you said all of that, but where will I meet someone? That’s the whole problem with our society’ Azalea smiled at her.
‘It’s hard to explain’ Angelica just glared at her.
‘OK’
‘Well, life doesn’t really work that way. First of all, you must find love within yourself’ Angelica sighed.
‘What’s that even supposed to mean?’
‘What I mean is you have to value yourself. Protect yourself from being exploited by fiendish people in your world. Rather than thinking of who you aren’t think about who you are. Loving yourself is all acceptance, Angie, just as it is for someone else’
‘All right, I see’ Angelica looked at a nearby clock. It wasn’t far off from being half past five. ‘Look, I really want to hear more from you, but I’ve only got a few hours to spare until I go to bed. I have to be up early for work again tomorrow’
‘That’s not a problem’
‘Huh?’ Azalea created a portal next to her.
‘When you enter this portal, you’ll be sent to my world. Time in your world will be frozen’
‘Really?!’
‘Yes! Come on, let’s go!’

Imagine the girl lies down on bed, crying, then someone rings the doorbell.

Tobey Maquire as the Pizza Guy "Pizza Time!". And thus begins a wild romantic roller coaster that would become a box office success. Rooting for you!
