Huang Mao sat at the living room above the veterinary clinic. He had opened the cage and let Xiao Hei out to play by itself.

Because seriously, whenever Huang Mao played with the cat, he would get scratched.

Sighed.

Such a fierce little thing!

"What's with the sigh?"

Huang Mao jolted in surprise and saw the vet entered with a tray of tea and some refreshments. He straightened and smiled at the handsome vet.

"It's Xiao Hei. This little thing won't let me pet him."

Dr. Mu laughed as he poured the tea into the cup and gave it to the younger man.

Huang Mao blushed, he felt like an incompetent owner, "Thank you, Dr. Mu."

"Besides being fierce, is Xiao Hei okay?" Dr. Mu asked as he glanced at the black cat who sat on the window sill, looking down at the road before he turned towards his young guest.

"He's fine. He even ate lots of fishes everyday." Huang Mao pouted as he jokingly glared at the small cat.

As if feeling the glare, the small milky black cat turned around and snorted at its owner. It then turned back to the window and faced Huang Mao with its small butt.

Huang Mao gasped and pointed at the small black cat in exasperation, "look, Dr. Mu! What's with that arrogant attitude?"

Dr. Mu just laughed and looking at the younger man's childish expression, he couldn't help but touched his head. After a few weeks interaction, the younger man had removed his shyness around him and sometimes, he would just blurt out what he thought of. And it felt nice, thought the doctor.

Huang Mao stiffened. He hesitantly looked up at the laughing veterinarian and asked quietly, "Dr. Mu, um..."

"Mm?" Dr. Mu stopped laughing and smiled at the younger man. "What's it, Xiao Mao?"

"Hand..." Huang Mao said softly. No one had touched his head like this except for his late mother. It felt weird but warmth.

Looking at the younger man's expression, Dr. Mu smiled and softly touched for a bit before he removed his hand. He smiled at the younger male like a good big brother, "you don't like it when I touch your head?"

Shaking his head, Huang Mao denied, "no! It's not that! I... No one has ever touched my head except my late mother."

Dr. Mu lamented inside. He knew more or less about the younger man. The neighbourhood where they lived was small, so, it wasn't hard to hear about some news and gossips. Before on the speaking term with Huang Mao, he just heard a little about a poor boy who had lost his mother during his high school and he had to stop coming to school because he had to work to pay off the hospital fees.

Huang Mao was a sweet boy and Dr. Mu felt regretted he didn't know the boy before. Before this, Huang Mao was just a stranger for him and even the kindest person wouldn't randomly help a stranger.

Same as Dr. Mu.

"Then, from now on, you have to familiar yourself to being patted by me," Dr. Mu smiled kindly as he reached his hand to touch that soft head.

Xiao Hei: "......" Ha! Flirtatious humans!

Feeling as if being stare, Dr. Mu looked at the source and saw the small milky black cat was glaring at him with sharp dual eyes. He blinked and then looked back to see the cat was only licking its paw, none of the aggressiveness was found.

"Uh, um... okay," Huang Mao said shyly but inside he was appreciating this small warmth.

Dr. Mu regained back his focus and smiled down at the smaller male. Pulling back his hand, he coughed to cover his inattentiveness and took the cup to sip on his hot tea. Sighed. What a day... Maybe, he was tired of working. Should he take a vacation?

After that, the two chatted for a while and Dr. Mu invited Huang Mao for lunch. At first, the younger male disagreed, afraid he would inconvenient the other but Dr. Mu insisted and told him he had bought too many ingredients yesterday.

Better cooked while it were still fresh.

Only, after that, finally, Huang Mao agreed. He wanted to help but was rejected. While waiting for the Dr. Mu to finish cooking, he went to play with Xiao Hei only to be swatted away and hissed.

Aiya, this little thing was still being unfriendly.

Sneakily, Huang Mao tapped on the wet nose and managed to avoid the sharp claws. He laughed happily as he teased the black cat again and again.

Xiao Hei: "......" Stupid benefactor! I'll just let you off for today.

Dr. Mu walked into the room only to see this scene. He leaned against the door frame, a gentle smile hung on his thin lips.

Xiao Hei ignored his benefactor and glanced at the veterinarian. He stared for a while before he meowed.

"Xiao Hei?" Huang Mao looked behind him and saw the doctor was smiling at him. "Ah! Do you need any help, Dr. Mu?"

Dr. Mu smiled and stood straight as he gestured to the dining table. "Yes, could you please help me setup the plates and utensils." He said and pointed at the shelves where the plates and utensils were.

Huang Mao nodded his head obediently and went to setup the table while Dr. Mu arranged the cooked meal. He even put a grilled mackerel on a bowl for Xiao Hei and set it aside near the dining table. He also tactfully put a bowl of water near the bowl for fish.

"Xiao Hei, come here. Here's your favorite fish," Dr. Mu beckoned to the black cat and was satisfied when he saw it moved towards the fish.

Dr. Mu smiled at the younger male and said, "Sit down, Xiao Mao." After saying that, he sat down on the chair and Huang Mao sat across of him.

Looking at the delicious looking foods on the table, Huang Mao was surprised. So, Dr. Mu also knew how to cook?

"Woah... This looks so delicious."

Dr. Mu chuckled and said modestly, "it's only normal. Why don't you try? I don't know what Xiao Mao likes to eat so..."

Shaking his head, Huang Mao denied, "no, no, no! I have no preferences and I like to eat anything!"

"Then, I'm glad," Dr. Mu smiled again.

After thanking the gods, both of them ate the lunch made by the host. While eating, they chatted with a light topic and sometimes, even laughs could be heard.

The lunch was a peaceful event, Huang Mao really appreciated this time when he felt relax and so at ease.

He didn't have to think about the debts and money.
