Since that second encounter, everytime Huang Mao going home, Li Wei Qiang would be there to accompany him.
Huang Mao didn't know anything about the strange man beside his name.
Li Wei Qiang.
And just like the other days, the handsome mysterious man would stand there under the single street lamp, waiting for him.
Huang Mao walked closer to the man and before he could greet him, the man lifted his head and a pair of sharp, deep phoenix eyes stared at him.
Huang Mao gulped, somehow nervous, "Li Wei Qiang."
Li Wei Qiang stared in silent before he nodded in acknowledgement.
Huang Mao walked side by side with the man and still felt it was awkward to walk in silence. The man didn't like to speak and only spoke when he deemed it was important.
Huang Mao however tried, "...Where does Wei Qiang live?"
Li Wei Qiang, "A house."
Huang Mao, "......" A house indeed. Such a brilliant answer! Noted the sarcastic tone.
Huang Mao, "how old are you?"
Li Wei Qiang was silent for a moment. He seemed to be thinking before he answered, "26."
So, Li Wei Qiang was 26 years old. He was only four years older than him. He tried again, "what is your job?"
Li Wei Qiang, "protect people."
Huang Mao finally gained a bit of information from this tight lipped man. He excitedly asked, "are you a policeman?"
Li Wei Qiang stopped walking and turned toward the shorter male. "...Hm, something like that," he answered vaguely.
Eh? What did he mean something like that? Could he be a private detective or bodyguard? But, if he was then, what was the point of following him home every night? It wasn't like Huang Mao would pay him or something?
This topic had been bugging Huang Mao these days. He would think of it, every waking hours. He glanced at the taller man. "Why do you insist of sending me back home?"
The handsome man, Li Wei Qiang, didn't even glance at him as he answered offhandedly. "Protect benefactor."
Benefactor? Eh? Did he mean, he, Huang Mao was his benefactor? But... what did he mean by that?
"Uh... that... what do yo--"
"We're here."
Huang Mao didn't manage to finish his words. He looked around him and realised that they were already below the old apartment where he lived. He turned around and was about to say, 'thank you' but the man was nowhere.
He scratched his head in confusion. "Already gone? What a fast guy..." he muttered to himself as he walked upstairs to the second floor. Pulling out the keys from his pocket, he unlocked the door and entered. Afterwards, he didn't forget to lock the door. Putting his shoes inside the cupboard, he pressed on the lamp switch and the dark room brightened.
"Meow."
Huang Mao looked down and smiled at the small black cat, "Xiao Hei, I'm home." He walked in and put his bag on the study table near the window.
Xiao Hei walked and sat down next to its food bowl. It meowed again as it looked up at its owner.
"Oh, you finished it. Wait," Huang Mao went to the refrigerator and took out the fish he had cooked this morning. After warming the fish, he put it on Xiao Hei's bowl. "Your favorite fish."
Huang Mao smiled at his cat and went to do his night routine. After finished, he went to his bed and saw Xiao Hei was already made itself comfortable on the foot of his bed. He took the blanket and made sure not to kick the small black ball. As soon as his head landed on the pillow, the young man instantly fell asleep and again forgetting to switch off the light.
When it was sure the human had fallen asleep, the small black cat's closed eyes opened. It stared at the human for a while before it changed to its human form.
"Always forgetting to switch off the light." The cat turned human said to himself as he flicked his sleeve and the brighted room instantly darkened. Li Wei Qiang was about to change back to his cat form when the human on the bed kicked his blanket.
He stared before a sigh escaped his thin lips.
Walking closer to the bed, he was about to put the blanket back when he heard his human said, "Xiao Hei ah, I'll work hard and feed you with many delicious fishes."
Li Wei Qiang stared at the human and realised he was sleeping soundly. A small lift at the corner of his lips made his hard and cold exterior looked soft and warm. After making sure his human benefactor was tucked inside the blanket, then, he changed back to his cat form.
Settled at the foot of the bed, Li Wei Qiang found a good position before he let a sleep invite him.
He didn't need to sleep but sleeping gave him a chance to recover his body.
Li Wei Qiang was about to close his eyes but then, he heard a soft murmur from his human benefactor.
"Eat your fish, Xiao Hei ah..."
Li Wei Qiang couldn't help but surprised. Only after he let out a few sounds that sounded like a laugh that he stopped. Ah... Did he just laugh?
Looking surprise, the cat god stared at his human benefactor with an unknown emotions in his dual coloured eyes.
After a few minutes staring, the black cat god murmured to himself in a soft voice, "Night, human..."
