Kassy’s POV

“Watching you guys hunt is fun, you get so competitive.” I say with a laugh “It is a lot of fun.” Astrids says as she walks over to Ash. “I think it’s more relaxing than fun,” he says. Astrid and I laugh at him, “of course you do.” she says. He just smiles at her, “I love you,” he says. She hugs him, “I know, I love you too.”  I hear something snap and feel something watching us. I look around, “So you feel it too?” I ask them and they nod.

Someone walks towards us, “Hello Kassy, long time no see.”  I look him over, he was tall and had blond hair and really blue eyes. I narrow my eyes at him, “why are you here Cory?” I say holding back a snarl, “Well, let’s see. I told you I loved you and then you dumped me. So I came here to make you pay for breaking my heart.” he answers. “Don’t make me laugh. I can easily kick your ass, nothing changed, you're still a little bitch!” He laughs evilly, “we shall see about that.” It looks like he was about to do something, “Better think again or you’ll end up dead.” Astrid warns him, starting to walk towards him. I put my hand out stopping her from advancing, “I’ll deal with him Astrid, this is my fight.” 

Cory runs at me slamming me into the ground. I’m shocked for a second but I shove him off and I get up. I throw a fireball at him but he dodges. “What the hell happened to you?” I ask. “After you dumped me, I went off to find a way to make you pay for what you did. After searching and searching I came across a Vampyre, and had him turn me.” 

Astrid’s POV

I see Kassy stand there in shock, he takes advantage and grabs her, biting her on the neck. She falls to the ground screaming and convulsing. He laughs, “that’s what you get you dumb bitch. Now you can suffer for all eternity like me.”  He tries to run but I block his path. He snarls, “get out of my way bitch.” I shake my head, “that’s no way to talk to a lady.” I say and I slam him into a tree. He struggled to get up. “What the hell makes you think you think you can hurt my best friend and just walk away?” I snarl while stalking towards him. He starts to back away from me but he bumps into Ash. “You know what?” I say with a smirk, “I’m still a little hungry.”

Ash grabs him so he isn’t able to run, “Your eyes are starting to shift Astrid. Don’t lose control.” Ash warns me. I’ve gotten better but I still have a hard time controlling myself. I look at Cory and smile sweetly and then sink my fangs into his neck. 

His body goes limp after a couple minutes, so I stop feeding and rip his head off. Ash let him fall to the ground and I set his body on fire. I run back over to Kassy with Ash right behind me, he checks her, “she isn’t breathing.” 

“No, it can’t be… her body rejected the change.” I stand there speechless. “She’s gone Astrid.” Ash tells me as he comes to hug me. “I have to save her!” I start walking towards her. Ash grabs me, “you can’t Astrid, you don’t know what will happen if you use your powers again so soon.” I pull my arm out of his grip, “I don't care!” I grab Kassy and run, causing him to growl, ”dammit!” I hear him running after me but I eventually lose him. 

I finally stop in a clearing and lay her down. I use my powers to bring her back, she sits up gasping for air. I sigh in relief, “what happened?” she asks looking at me. “Cory bit you, but your body rejected the change and you died.”  She looks at me and she’s pissed, “so you used your powers to save me?” I nod. “Are you okay?” 

 “Yeah, I think so.” I don’t feel like anything is wrong.  Ash runs up to us, “God you're hard to keep up with, you okay?” he asks, trying to catch his breath. I sigh, “I feel fine guys.” I stand up but got dizzy and stumbled into Ash, he picks me up. “Astrid, you good?” he asks me worriedly. I was gonna answer but everything goes black. 

Ash’s POV

Kassy gets up, “will she be okay?” she asks. “I’m not sure, let’s get back to the house and call Akira.” We walk back to the house and go inside, Arabella walks over to me, “what happened?” I lay her down, “she used her powers again. Call Akira please.” She leaves to go call Akira

I sit down next to her and just watch her, I have a bad feeling she won’t wake up. After a few minutes Arabella walks in, “What did she say?”  Arabella sighs, “she can’t help this time, she's out of town.”  I growl and start to pace the room. “Will hurting me work again?”

 “Akira said she didn’t think it would, but if you want to try I’ll help.” she offers “There’s no point if Akira said it won’t work. I guess she just has to wake up on her own.” I hate this! I wish there was a way to help her.

I pick her up and take her upstairs. I lay her on the bed and then lay down next to her pulling her close to me, “Please wake up soon.” he whisper with a sob. 

The next few weeks dragged by as everyone tried to get on with their lives as she slept. They were starting to give up hope that Astrid would wake up. Three in a half weeks pass and she finally wakes up.

Astrid’s POV

I sit up and look around trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I wanted Ash, so I got up, showered and went downstairs to find him. No one hears or sees me so I sneak up behind Ash and hug him tightly. I feel him stiffen and relax once he realizes it’s me, “Astrid!” He turns around and kisses me, I kiss him back. I pull away after a good couple minutes and look at him, “what happened?” I ask. “You used your powers to save Kassy. You’ve been asleep for almost 4 weeks.”  I can’t believe I was asleep for that long!! “I’m glad you're okay now. I love you.” he says. I smile, “I love you too.” 

I suddenly feel dizzy and stumble back but Ash grabs me and picks me up. “I don’t feel very good.” I say, feeling like I was going to throw up. “Maybe it’s from using your powers, you should get some more rest.”  He carries me back upstairs. As soon as we are in the bedroom I try to get away from him, “Ash, put me down!” After a second he sets me down. I run into the bathroom and throw up.

After I was done I walk back out and bump into him, “You look awful.” he says while steadying me. I glare at him but don’t say anything. He grabs my arm and helps me walk to the bed, I lay down and try to relax. “Try to get some sleep okay? I will be downstairs.” he says and he walks out closing the door.

I was almost asleep but got nauseous again and ran to the bathroom.  I was about to go lay back down when I pause to  look at myself in the mirror. Is it me or is my stomach bigger? I turn to the side and could see a small baby bump. I focus my hearing towards my stomach and I can hear a second heartbeat! I start tearing up as I rub my stomach. 

Downstairs, Ash’s POV

“How is she?” Arabella asks as I sit next to her. “Uh, not really sure. She threw up as soon as we got into our room,”  Arabella stares off for a second and then turns back to me, “Hey Ash can I ask you something?” I nod.

 “How many times have you two had sex?” I look at her in surprise, “um, twice.” I answer, feeling uncomfortable. “And uh were you protected when having sex.”  I look away, “mmmm noooo.”  She continues to  stare at me, what is she trying to get at??? Oh fuck…...It finally clicked, “you think she’s pregnant!” I say looking at her, “Though I’m not positive, it makes sense.” 

“I’m uh gonna go talk to her.” I leave and head upstairs. I walk in and see her standing by the open window crying. She looks at me, “come over here.” I walk over and stand in front of her. I was about to say something but she shushes me, “just listen.”  I close my eyes and don’t say anything. After a minute I start to hear a third heart beat. I look up at her, “you are pregnant!” She rolls her eyes, “let me guess Arabella had her suspicions.” I nod and laugh, I was gonna wait to do this but I think now is the perfect time. I walk over to get something in my dresser.

Astrid’s POV

“What are you doing?” He doesn’t say anything. I start to walk over to him but I suddenly feel extremely dizzy, “Ash…” I say panicking as I stumbled backwards. He whips around and tries to grab me but he doesn’t reach me in time. I fall out the window, too terrified and dizzy to remember I had wings. My head cracks against a rock, splitting open. I hear him scream my name before darkness consumes me. 

Ash’s POV

“ASTRID!!” I scream and stand there in shock for a second. I finally move and run downstairs and outside. I hear Blayne and Arabella calling after me, “Ash, what’s going on?” Blayne asks but I ignore him.

I finally reach her, she is lying on her stomach blood pooling around her. I kneel down next to her and pull her into his lap, “Astrid, you need to wake up.” I start sobbing when she doesn’t move, “Please baby wake up!” I scream. Arabella and Blayne run up, “Ash...what’s going on?” Arabella asks.

“We were upstairs, I had just found out she was pregnant. I went over to the other side of the room to get something when she called me, I turned around and she was stumbling backward and fell from the window before I could grab her.” They gasp, “is she okay?” Arabella asks. I don’t let her see Astrid and I can’t answer, I just sit there crying. “Is s-she okay Ash?” she asks again, slowly coming closer.

I finally look up at them, “she’s dead.” I move so they could see her body. Arabella gasps and faints. Blayne catches her and sinks to the ground crying. I hold her body and sob as the little black box falls out of my pocket on the ground.
