Head vomit

Nightly visits

Nightly visits

Dec 04, 2021

Something watches me.
I see it in those night-fantasies whose job is to make you
Fear.
I see it hold out its hands and pray.
It loves me.
It holds me to its chests.

Whatever loves me has back my love thrice.
Whatever watches deserves my gaze upon the faces it may not have.
Whatever holds me deserves to Feel how I do when I see it.
I open doors,
It's not behind them.

I turn on lights,
It's simply gone.

I sulk in shadows wrapping me
Like its arms embracing my changing forms.

We are two shadows in a sea of dark.
Only one is real.
Only one disappears
When you turn on the light.

This poem is based on the time that at 3:00 AM, completely sleep deprived and putting away dishes, I thought a giant shadow monster wrapped its arms around my shoulders lovingly. Actually a really fond memory for me.
