"You may get out of my closet." The closet door burst open and Yume jumped back to the wall of her cramped apartment. "Mind telling me what kind of creep stays in a girl's closet?"
"I'm trying to find the daggers and I know you have them."
"...No idea what you're talki-"
"Then I'll just force it out." The man in the fedora and large coat lunged forward at Yume and went for a punch. It didn't hit, but it did leave a pretty big hole in the wall.
"You gonna pay for that?"
"Only if you tell me where it is."
"Hmm, nah." Yume ducked the next hit and ran over to the kitchen. She grabbed several knives and threw them at him. However, most were dodged and the ones that did hit seemed to just melt away.
Once he got close, Yume grabbed the nearby frying pan and slapped him in the face with it. Which caused not only the fedora to fly away, but also for the pan to melt.
She was then able to see just eyes and the outlines of a face. A dark-green, thick, mucus-like liquid was dripping off of his body and it seemed to melt whatever it touched. He gave Yume a death stare, one that sinks right into her soul.
Yume ran away from the kitchen but instead of going to the door which was to her immediate left, she instead headed straight behind to where the man was. She grabbed the blanket that was just hanging off of the top of the couch and used it as a cushion. She jumped out the window.
The blanket shielded her from all the broken glass. She landed like a cat, bending her legs and letting the shock absorb through the body slowly rather than suddenly.
The man stared at her for a bit before walking out the door to continue the chase.
"Haa...haa.....ha......h....E...Excuse me! Aaron, you got any chocomint?"
"Yeah, usual price. What's chasing you this time?"
"Not exactly sure. Just..." Yume grabbed into her pocket and slammed whatever she grabbed onto the icecream stand's table. "Keep the change!" She grabbed the icecream and continued running.
Opening the wrapper, she started eating it while running. Taking a quick look behind her, she saw the same man giving chase. She could go into an alleyway, but it wasn't exactly the best option at this time, it would just take too much time.
The train station was far, but basically a straight shot and the crowd would definitely stall him at least a bit. She decided to take the latter and started running faster. The man seemed to be just as fast her, maybe even catching up.
It felt like forever trying to get there. Not only were there tons of people on the sidewalk, the busy traffic made some routes impossible to go through, basically stopping any attempts of making a shortcut.
Finally getting through, she saw the stairs leading to the elevated-train. She ran up the stairs and swiped her student pass to get through the toll gate. People were starting to fill the train and Yume ran after to join them before the doors closed.
She was able to just barely get in. Damn, never realised how far the station actually is...holy shit. No idea on what to do, she just stood in the train and decided to get off at the next station.
"Excuse me, you need to pay if you wanna get through."
"Hmm? Oh sorry, how much is it?"
"Depends on where you wanna go from here."
"Umm, I'm actually following someone so..."
"I see. Well, hmm..." The guy at the toll thought for a bit. "Hm? Did you take a token?" "Token?"
"Ah...well, do you not know how tokens work?"
"Sorry, this is my first time actually."
"I see...Alright then, how it basically works is that if you don't have some kind of pass, you can just take a token from there and it'll record where you're from. You give it to a box that looks exactly the same as that one and it'll show you how much you need to pay."
"Oh! I see. Thank you very much."
"No problems. Take care of yourself." Not knowing that he just helped an assaulter, this boy helped what he thought was a random old man.
