He thought, with tears brimming in his eyes. But Kyoko wouldn't even let that moment last.
"Let's cut the cake! I made sure to order my favourite!" Exclaimed Kyoko. He placed the cake on the side table of Ame's bed.
Seeing how Kyoko was enjoying himself, Seto couldn't bring himself to break the news the doctor had said to him a while ago. He wanted to forget it even for a second.
"First piece goes to Ame but since he can, my dear brother-in-law who is like a brother to me, do the honours." He brought the cake and fed it to Seto. The latter happily accepted the gesture, also, feeding him half of the piece.
"Hey, you okay?" Arnold whispered, standing near Seto. He noticed he was looking a bit off for a while now. So seeing the chance when Kyoko was scooping himself all the toppings, he took the time to inquire about Seto.
"Yes?" Seto didn't know what to answer.
"I mean you don't look too good. Did something happen?"
Seto chuckled, he agreed he was a bit taken aback. "Wow, oh so great Arnold Creed is worried about me? A lowly being?"
Arnold rolled his eyes. "Don't let it get into that little head of yours. Darling would be worried as hell if something bothers you."
"So this is what it is about." Seto glanced at Kyoko, who without care was gulping down the cake as if it was his last.
"I am glad he found himself a good man."
A warm smile hugged his face.
"Make sure to take care of him." He added.
"You don't have to tell me that."
"What are you two gossiping about? I am not giving away any more of the cake now." Kyoko glared at them.
"It's no-
"Kyoko, the doctor came in to inform me about Ame's condition when you were out."
Arnold glared at Seto, judging how spaced out he was a while ago. It didn't seem like good news to him. And, just when he said not to worry Kyoko, he goes and runs his mouth.
The air got tense, both of them knew how much Kyoko cared for Ame, even though he had a carefree up-front, he was as anxious on the inside.
"You can rest assured, even if there is bad news, nothing much that we can't handle."
Seto reminded them before Kyoko decided to let his imagination run wild.
"So it is bad news...." he trailed, tears were brimming in his eyes, threatening to fall any moment from now.
"Do you want me to talk with the doctor?" Arnold spoke in an attempt to make Kyoko feel better. His words sounded nice but he had a menacing tone. Who knows what he would do to the doctor?
"No, it's okay." He gulped. "Seto please continue."
"Like I said, even if it is somewhat of an upsetting news, it's not a big deal." He inhaled.
"First, the good news is that the medicine has been working wonders and Ame may be able to recover 90%."
Kyoko only nodded with a small smile, preparing for what's to come.
"Well, the bad news is.... the expected date when they said Ame will wake up from his coma is extended. More 6 months till he wakes up."
His voice broke and he looked away, yes he did say it was not a big deal but what could ever prepare a heart of a helpless lover to see his loved one lifeless, with being able to do nothing but pray for his recovery.
Kyoko hugged him. Tears ran down Seto's cheeks as he closed his eyes and held onto Kyoko.
"He will be okay." Kyoko weakly mumbled.
"Will he?"
"...yes"
"What if doctors keep on saying he needs more time to wake up and eventually says he will never wake up. What if- he does never wake up I won't be...
He hitched as he cried even more.
"Shh, don't think that. He is my brother and your mate. He has two people waiting for him. He will wake up... he has to." He clutched Seto tightly.
Arnold, who never had experienced such a situation, just stared as the touching scene unfolded in front of him and as both of the brothers held onto each other for support.
"What's it like to fall in love with your fated mate?"
Kyoko only had one dream in his life, meeting his fated mate. The person who was born just for you but it was easier said than done, after all he had never step a foot outside his home city Sethia.
