“I-, ugh, I’m gonna die!” I exclaimed while gasping for air. Yeah sure, the surrounding is elegant and all but that doesn’t mean it would make me feel better climbing this long stair that leads to God knows where.
I successfully reached the end of the long stair that led to an open space with one little booth at the center. The luggage didn’t help at all when I was trying to climb because of its weight. I thought I would see a tall building at the top but there’s none. Maybe it’s hidden somewhere using an Astral ability?
[What are you waiting for? You should go to the booth if you don’t want to stay here until night.]
“Let me rest for a minute. I think my legs are starting to give up on me. You should try climbing a stair with over a hundred steps too, K.” I tried to even my breathing before walking up to the booth. It was empty so I was a little bit nervous, are there any guards here? Even a janitor will do so that I can at least ease my mind and feel that I’m not alone.
I placed my hand on the counter and as soon as my hand touched it, a person appeared out of nowhere that made me scream internally with my face frozen from shock. It was brought back to Earth after hearing the woman’s voice.
“Welcome to Sylmia Institute, I have heard about a transfer student and I assume that it’s the young lady?” Her voice sounded a bit distorted and her body was see-through. It was a projector that I’m talking to. I realized that I hadn't answered her yet so I faked a cough and looked at her projection.
“Oh, uh, yeah! That is me. I guess?” I replied with a bit of hesitation because I don’t have any means to confirm whether she was talking about me or about another student. “Great! I have been waiting for your arrival, I hope that you traveled here at ease.” Uhuh, I would have traveled at ease if the stairs were replaced with escalators instead. “Oh right, Ms. Leriquez, we actually have a bit of a problem.” I tilted my head in confusion and waited for her to continue her sentence.
“I haven’t told you my name yet so how come, wait, no, you were saying that there was a problem? What is it? Maybe we can address it right now before I enter the institute.” The woman’s eyes sparkled after hearing my response which made me feel that this ‘problem’ isn’t just a simple one.
“So you see, because Ms. Leriquez transferred in the middle of the first semester, we didn’t have enough time to secure you a spot at the girls’ dormitory so you have to share a room with one of the boys in the boys’ dormitory instead.” Ahhh, so I missed a spot. Well I think it’s fine– “Excuse me, I think I might have heard you wrong. Can you repeat what you just said?”
“Unfortunately, you have to share a dorm with a guy.”
