*Thun* * Thun* *Thun* “Moraña! Moraña!”, he yelled hoping to hear her respond.
“Tu-Tuj”, he heard faintly from behind the door.
He tried breaking the door with force, but no luck.
“Think Tujitou, think”, as he tried to find a way to open the door.
Force didn’t work and he knew that he wouldn’t have time to look for a key. Irritated from not knowing what he was supposed to do, he slammed the door with his fist. There was no one else but him there to help out Moraña and even then he didn’t know what to do. In the past few weeks, so many things had happened to him and he knew that all of those things had one thing in common. He never knew what to do and always relied on someone else. The more he thought about it the angrier he became and the more he slammed his fist on the door.
“Useless! Useless! You’re fucking useless!”, he yelled as he slammed the door.
What he hadn’t noticed was that during his little fit his hands were engulfed in flames and that with each of his hits a hole began to appear from the door melting. The next time he slammed his fist on the door his whole arm went through the door from the hole he formed. With his arm in the other room, he could feel the cold air that filled the room. He quickly removed his arm and looked through the hole in the door to see Moraña looking back at him. Just like all the others, her hands were chained up above her head. She was severely bruised and thin from not having eaten anything. Ice mist could be seen coming from the palm of her hands. When he looked at the state she was in, it reminded him of the dead girl he saw when he first came here. As they looked at each other through the hole, they both started crying.
“Hold on. I’m getting you out of there.”
Tujitou now knew what he had to do. He placed his hands on the lock and concentrated. It didn’t take long before his hands were engulfed in flames. He was surprised because he only expected it to glow red as it did before, but he knew that it currently didn’t matter. The lock soon melted away and he opened the door. He ran towards Moraña to free her. As soon as he freed her she fell to the ground. Tujitou could see how weak she had become. He lift her and embraced her.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry”, he cried out.
Moraña feeling his warm embrace cried even louder. Her cries made Tujitou fuel with anger. He swore to himself to get revenge on the monsters who did this to them.
“We have to get out of here. Can you stand?”, she replied by shaking her head.
“Okay. Get on my back and I’ll carry you.”
After Moraña got on his back he could how light she was. She could barely even hold on to him. He dried his tears and began to run. Fearing he would hurt her he paced himself and tried to calm himself as much as he could. The last thing he wanted was to accidentally burn her. As he ran he eventually heard what seemed to be running water. A plausible way out. He ran towards the sound and when he arrived there he finally knew where he was. The sewer system from under Brague.
Stuck at a crossroad Tujitou didn’t know which way to go.
“Plu-pluck a strand of your ha-hair and…and see which way the wa- the water flows.”
Tujitou did exactly as she instructed and went in the direction the water flowed. He did so each time he found himself at a crossroad. As he ran he could finally see light.
“Hold on Moraña. We’re finally getting out of here.”
As he got closer, he could see iron bars being his last obstacle before they were free.
“Hold on”, as he laid down Moraña on the side.
“I’ll melt it away and then we’ll be free.”
“No. No fire. You have to melt it away…with-without fire. There are-there are too many gases here.”
“What do gasses have to do with any of this? We need to get out of here.”
“No fire Tuj…no…fire”, she faints.
“Moraña! No, no, no, no , no.”
Worried he checked to see if she was still breathing and to his relief she was.
‘We need to get out of here’, he thought to himself as he looked at his hands.
“No fire. Okay, no fire.”
He placed his hands on the bar and took deep breaths. It took him a while, but his hands eventually turned red and slowly melted the bars one by one. Some time had passed and Tujitou had a few bars left to melt before they could escape. He wasn’t exhausted, but he did constantly check on Moraña to see if she was still breathing.
“Almost done, we’ll soon get out of here.”
“No, you fucking won’t you vermin.”
