"Arghh, Time out. Let me take a break, please. I'm running out of breath here." Callum exclaimed as he lay on the mat where he was having a sparring match with Alec.
"You need to work on your stamina," Alec said as he hands Callum a bottle of water.
Callum huffs and downed the water Alec gave him.
"It's not like I lack stamina whatsoever. It just happened that we have been doing this for hours. I'm just tired."
"I understand that, but how will you be able to last in a fight with Luca or even his lackeys? How would you be able to outrun them at least when you couldn't even keep up with this? Alex asked."
"We are doing this for you to not get hurt and get caught by him. I'm not being hard on you because I wanted you to suffer or get you all sweaty and juicy looking... Though I guess that's one of the reasons." Alec said softly as he caressed Callum's cheek lovingly.
Callum not impressed with what he heard, gave Alec a deadpan face.
"Seriously?" Sighing.
", Anyway I know why we are doing this aside from that unnecessary remarks of yours. So I'm sorry if I am whining, But we can at least take a break to enjoy the calm before the storm? Yeah?" Callum sulkily mumbles as he prepares for another round of sparring all the while thinking about how he ended up doing such grueling training.
Upon finishing their food the two newcomers' mood drops.
"So the chase has begun," Aren uttered defeatedly.
"We should have left this place as soon as Rafael had shown up that time," Marcus added not noticing his slip up.
"What? Rafael? Why did I not know about this?" Callum exclaimed.
Callum felt betrayed. He doesn't like being left out. He knows that his friends must have kept it for his sake but still,...
Aren holds Callum's hand gently rubbing his thumb soothingly. "Cal, we just want you to focus on healing. We don't want you getting stressed and doing something that might aggravate your health."
"Yes, Cal. We're sorry for keeping you out of this issue. I know you hate being left out but we just did it because we need you. We need you in full health. There are still things that only you can do."
"We did not keep it from you because we think that you are weak or anything of the sort. None of those," Marcus added. Giving Callum a reassuring hug.
"We did not mean to make you feel like a burden. You are far from being a burden for us, I know what your thinking so yeah. You are not Callum. After all, you're our Guardian Angel," Aren said as he joins the two in a group hug.
Callum mentally berated himself. He knows that his friends will never think bad of him but he couldn't help it. His past mistakes resulted in self-doubt, trust issues ever since he landed in the mortal realm.
He also understands his friend's overprotective tendency as they all had been stuck in this difficult situation for quite a long time and had been each other support ever since their fateful meeting. Yet he couldn't stop blaming himself for all the shit they were getting into.
"I'm sorry guys. I know you both mean well but please, I want to carry my shared burden. If I couldn't handle it I promise — I will not hide it from you guys. I want you guys to rely on me too, the same as I rely on you," Callum said.
"We're so sorry Cal, will you forgive us?" Marcus asked.
"I'm so sorry too for overacting guys," Callum said as he nods.
"So are you three good now?" Alec interrupted.
"We should focus on figuring out what to do with this danger all of us are in," Victor added.
"How does this problem affect your group?" Marcus asked.
"Yeah, Luca is our problem," Aren added.
"That is where you are wrong. I am very much included in this problem because Callum is mine," Alec said as he pulled Callum towards him.
"Huh! What the fuck are you talking about?" Marcus bristled.
Hey! Hey! Please keep ourselves level-headed here. And you Mr. Michel refrain from provoking Marcus. What do you even mean by what you said anyway? Last time I check Callum doesn't have any boyfriend at all," Aren said trying and failing to act civilized with the way Alec looked like he's having so much fun messing with them.
Tick marks slowly rising on Aren. This person has an undesirable personality.
Callum feeling the rising tension coming from his friends sighed.
"Alec, please, stop. We don't have time for silly arguments. Let's all proceed with what we're going to talk about," Callum said in a condescending tone.
Pulling Callum's hand he guided him back to sit down.
Callum let out a sigh of relief. However, at the back of his mind, he knows that he will have a long conversation with his friends who are currently giving him an accusing glare.
Breaking the silence Alec asked the boys.
"So do you even have other plans with aside leaving this place for a definite time?
You know your plan of keeping low will not help you deal with Luca.
Do you think you can keep on outrunning him?"
We know that we are acting like a coward with us running away and hiding from him. But we don't stand a chance against him if we fought head-on. That Wizard has too many tricks up his sleeve.
"Yeah, We can't risk getting caught by him."
Upon saying those words the three boys felt a cold fear runs down their spine from the reminder of their past captivity.
"Then we should think of a way how you guys will be able to defend yourself against him," Alec said.
Prepare your belongings as we are going to my private villa in the countryside where you guys will be trained by the three of us.
"Ehhhh????!!"
"Arghh!" For the nth time, Callum was flipped on his back.
"What are you daydreaming about?" Alec asked.
"You should focus on what we are doing my dear. I do not want you getting injured because of you not paying attention." Alec added as he helped Callum back on his feet.
Sighing "I guess you have enough for today. Let's take that break you are so graciously begging me for and probably get something to eat?"
Upon hearing the word eat Callum's stomach answers Alec's offer on its own.
Chuckling Alec held Callum's hand as they trotted out of Alec's dojo.
"I wonder how Aren and Marcus are doing with their private training..." Callum muses as he glanced outside the window overlooking a gorgeous lake surrounded by a thick forest.
