Oran’s point of view

“BBBRRRRING BBBBRRRRING”

School starts at 8:00 AM and finishes by 3:00 PM. I set my alarm early so I would have time to wake up, mentally prepare, shower, and eat something.

Since it is September, the nights are getting colder, though the days are still warm.

I stretch a little bit then walk over to my closet quietly. My alarm went off at 7:00 AM, I thought it would be normal to wake at this time, but the others appear to be still sleeping soundly after I turned off the alarm.

I fetch my clothes and head to the shower. I place my hand under the water to check the temperature.

I hope my teachers are nice and that the students treat me nicely.

I take my time in the shower then dry off and get dressed.

I go into the bathroom and dry my hair with the blow dryer, by this time Tallius and Sparky awake and getting ready for the day.

“O wanna go eat cereal with me?” Sparky asks.

I nod and we go to the kitchen and eat breakfast while Tallius showers.

Sparky takes a quick shower then we head to class.

Tallius walks me to our grade’s building and shows me my shoe locker. After changing my shoes we head to the hallway.

“You’re in class 2 B it’s the first room on the right. I’m in class 2A, right across the hallway.”

 “Uh… Talli, can we meet for lunch? W-We don’t have to, but I don’t know anyone…” I nervously ask.

“Yeah, sure.”

Tallius and I part ways as the bell chimes off. I greet my teacher and he directs me to my seat. I sit at the front of the room, on my left is a guy with glasses, and to my right is… Zekuu. During homeroom the teacher takes attendance and passes out an announcement for the week. The school representative takes the students’ homework while everyone chats.

After homeroom at 8:10 the language teacher comes in. Language has never been my favorite subject, but I decent at it. It seems most students are bored by this subject.

After language comes social studies at 9:00, another quite boring subject. I look over to find that Zekuu has been sleeping for the past two class periods, even during the brief breaks. Each class lasts about 50 minutes besides homeroom.

My next class is science at 10:00, this year’s course is chemistry. Since it is in a lab I must follow other students to find where it is.

I clear my throat, “excuse me… I’m new here. Can you help me find the chemistry lab?” I ask the glasses student next to me.

“Yes! Follow me!” He smiles, “My name is Bohai, what is your name?”

“You can call me Oran.” I answer.

“Rare name! Where is it from?” He asks as I follow him.

“It’s a nickname, my full name is Orando… my father named me.”

“Cool, my name means waves of the sea.” He smiles.

“That’s really cool! I was named after the Oranda goldfish…” I laugh nervously. I was previously made fun of for this fact as a child either I was nicknamed fish or moron.”

He laughs a little bit, “that’s really unique.” He opens the door to the lab for me and tells me where my seat is.

“Is there anyone who sits next to here?” I ask.

“Zekuu sits there.” He nervously smiles, “The guy that was sleeping next to you earlier, he doesn’t come to class often and sleeps during class most of the time. If he is not careful he will fail another year.”

I sigh, “Ah… I see.” I smile.

Not before long and the rest of the students pile in. We learn about calculating pH and taking the pH of liquids and do a small experiment. After about 30 minutes into the class, Zekuu shows up. He and the sensei argue for a bit then he is able to take a seat.

He looks over to me, “Oh hey, I know you.”

I nod quietly.

“You were at the Kiyoshi’s party, you’re new right?”

“Yes. I’m Tallius and Sparky’s new roommate.”

“Cool.” He scoffs.

We finish the experiment with me doing most of the work then we head back to the classroom for mathematics at 11:00. Math is my favorite subject, I find it very easy.

At 12:00 it is time for lunch. Students either bring or buy their own meal. Then they bring it to the classroom, eat in the cafeteria, or outside. I follow the rush of students and start looking for familiar faces. Tallius pushes his way through the crowd then we walk to the cafeteria together.

I get a bowl of rice and a cup of vegetables while Tallius drinks the same drink he always does. Not before long Kiyoshi joins us.

“Hey Ora! How has your first day been?” he asks.

“It’s been good… I’m in class with Zekuu.” I answer.

“Zekuu… Don’t talk to him! Be really mean to him! He’s such a bad guy…” He crosses his arms.

Tallius nods.

“A-Ah… I can’t be mean to someone.. I can just ignore him.” I laugh nervously.

Some more time passes and Sparky and his friend and Bohai come and sit at the table.

“Orando!” Bohai smiles.

“Hi Bohai” I smile back.

“EHHHH? You know Ori already?” Sparky gasps.

“We’re in the same class!” Bohai answers.

“I guess I don’t get to introduce you. BoBo is my senpai in anime club, he is the president and the vice president is Toki here.” Sparky smiles introducing the boy next to him.

They take their seats and next to them Zekuu and his group sit next.

Kiyoshi ignores them the whole time and we all chat and eat together.

At 1:00 is art It is relaxing and fun, I like to sketch and paint even though I don’t do it often too often anymore.

At 2:00 is my physical education class. I once again follow Bohai to the gym which is on the other side of campus. During this time several classes form together to do P.E all at once and often compete. Today was an easier day with just stretching, running, then playing tennis. Thankfully Bohai paired with me so I didn’t have to meet a new person.

The day ends at 3:00. Most of the students use the public shower but since it is my last class I go back to the dorm to wash up.
