As the two were now in the hallways of the manor, Claire’s eyes helplessly wandered around, noticing a new detail every second or so, as the place was absolutely huge; It felt like the walls would engulf them at any moment.
“If you’re hungry, you can always go into the dining area near the office and the servants will be more than happy to help.” Athena stated as Claire's eyes now noticed all the butlers and maids working around the house with a soft smile on their faces; something to which Claire had never seen before.
“Tell me, is it truly bliss to work in such a place like this? All I see are happy and calm faces here…” Claire questioned as she was starting to feel as though she was somehow whisked into a fairytale-like land.
“Without Master Arlo, most of the workers here would be on the streets, or would have no choice but to move out to Wales or Scotland for work.” Athena responded as she stopped in front of a silver door with Claire’s name on it. Athena gripped her golden handles before pulling it to reveal a lavish bedroom.
Claire cautiously walked in as her eyes instantly felt overwhelmed with the extravagant decor of the room; the bed was larger than any bed she had seen before in her life as it was covered in royal purple silk sheets. She then noticed the large mirror standing against the wall as next to it was large amounts of cabinets and closet space to fit multiple dead bodies. Finally, her eyes noticed that near the large mirror were two large glass doors that led out to a balcony.
“Is this room really meant for one person?” Claire asked as she was immediately taken aback at just how large the room was as Athena giggled,
“Relax love, all the rooms are usually this size.” Athena responded, which just sent Claire spirling into another question,
“How long does it take to clean these rooms then?”
Athena laughed at her friend before walking away into the back of the room, “I’ll draw a bath for you.”
If the room is about as large as a small home, I gotta see what the bathroom looks like, Claire thought to herself as she quickly followed Athena into the private chamber’s bathroom.
As Athena walked towards the large white marbled tub, Claire’s eyes immediately glanced around in awe, as the beautiful white and gray swirled marble bathroom caught her breath. The gold accents carefully casing the sinks and floors, beautifully giving the bathroom life.
“Oh my gosh…” that was all Claire could say as it was becoming clear to her that this whole room— no, this whole manor was way too big than what she was used to. Before she became completely overwhelmed with everything, she remembered that she still hadn’t unpacked her stuff “I guess, I should go ahead and unpack my stuff then…” Claire muttered as she turned around and walked back into her room.
Noticing her suitcase lying on top of the royal purple silks of her bed, Claire swiftly walks up to the bed and begins to unzip the suitcase: opening the suitcase laid inside contents such as clothes and multiple colored wires. As soon as Claire grabs some of the wires, she feels the presence lingering over her, watching her every movement; it was the same feeling that she had when she was standing in front of the lone angel statue. A chill crawled up her spine as she couldn’t help but call out to Athena and confirm her crazed suspicious;
“Hey Athena…” Claire paused until she heard Athena hum back to her in response, confirming that she’s still able to hear her, “I may end up sounding a bit crazy, but I feel as though there’s someone watching us…”
A moment of silence passes by, until she hears a quick shout from Athena, “Alucard, knock it off!!”
Wait, I’m not going crazy!? Claire’s thoughts paused for a moment as she quickly glanced around, Alucard?? Who or what is that? Claire continued to think to herself, her mind helplessly racing as she wasn’t expecting her crazed suspicion to be on point; was there actually someone, or perhaps some entity, stalking their every movement?
As Claire continued to question her sanity, her lavender eyes noticed something peering out on the opposite end of the bedroom wall… at first, she thought that she was actually losing her mind, as her eyes caught the sight of what appeared to be a hand. But that can’t be right— there’s no way a hand can just appear through the wall!? As a deeper confusion started to sink in, the hand that peered through the wall continued to emerge; the hand soon gave way to an arm, then feet and legs, before finally a whole being— that of a tall man, appeared before her in her room.
What… the fuck, that was all Claire could muster up in her thoughts, as she wasn’t made aware that the Organization actually let their monster roam freely around the manor; the only thing that Arlo mentioned, when it came to the monsters, was that he employed them. Suddenly, her thoughts quickly blurred as she heard Athena call out of her once more:
“Hey Claire, your bath is ready!” Athena happily chirped out, completely unaware of the presence that had just entered into the room unannounced.
“There’s no way in hell I’m taking a bath after you summoned a seven foot tall devil in my room!!” Claire yelled back at Athena, as her eyes couldn’t take her attention away from the tall and devilish looking man.
The tall, devilish being had beautiful pale white skin, almost faintly translucent as the room’s white light illuminates his skin, being able to see his brightly lit blue veins. His hair was completely black and loose, as strains of his curled and crazed hair flew in every direction; his bangs obscuring parts of his face. The way he was dressed was honestly emasculated; the red silk tie, the white ironed shirt with jet black pants fit well with his freakishly tall and well-built frame. Last, but not least, Claire noticed his eyes… they were brightly orange, feeling as though it could compare easily with a setting sun.
Athena quickly walked out from the bathroom, her bright blue eyes meeting with the orange eyes of what seemed to be the seven foot tall devil, completely unfazed by his appearance.
“Alucard, you know well and good that Master Arlo has told everyone that they were to meet Ms. Claire tomorrow, after she’s well rested.” Athena yelled, obviously frustrated with the tall monster.
“I think not…” the tall man, now simply known as Alucard, responded curtly; his voice silkened and dark— certainly, a voice like that is more dangerous than one might imagine, “So long as the Rabbit is here, I shall do as I please”.
Rabbit!?, Claire’s eye couldn’t help but twitch as a certain annoyance began to rise inside her, “Alright Bats, if you think stalking me is just gonna make me run with my tail between my legs, you got another thing coming.” Her lavender eyes immediately glared back at the tall man, easily figuring out that this man was nothing more than a vampire-- a creature belonging to the eternal night.
Suddenly, the temperature within the room drastically drops as another chill quickly crawled up Claire’s spine; her eyes continue to glare up at the tall man, her lavender eyes now settling on the bright orange eyes of the mad man that stood before her. Suddenly, a sharp grin appeared on Alucard’s face before quickly responding to the young intern, “I can’t wait to destroy that tough girl persona of yours rabbit—
“Good luck with that!” Claire quickly cuts him off, her annoyance and anger mixing together in an imbalanced cocktail resulting in a bond of courage, “If humans can’t destroy my spirit, what makes you think a monster can?” Her eyes never left the sight of the tall monster, as her hand calmly rested on hip; contempt at giving the tall monster the defiance she rudely deserves.
“Master!! Master, where are you?”
A voice peered from outside the room, presumingly from the hallway as the tension between man and monster was quickly cut in two. Curious, Claire turned her attention away from Alucard and starred at Athena; already knowing of her dear friend’s curiosity, she quickly answered her,
“Don’t worry, it's just Sirius; he’s looking for a certain disobedient vampire lord.”
Suddenly, the bedroom door slowly opens, “Pardon for the intrusion…” the voice, still belonging to the one that was shouting out for his master— now known belonging to another creature named Sirius— peered out as his head peaked in through the crack of the door.
“Ah, there you are, master!” Sirius happily cheered as he walked through the opened crack of the door, allowing himself inside the new intern’s room, “Lord Arlo has been looking for you.”
“Why didn’t you just faze through the wall?” Alucard questioned his subordinate, slightly raising an eyebrow.
“I didn’t want to scare anyone!” Sirius calmly responded as his crimson eyes shifted his attention to Athena and the new intern.
“Well now, how considerate— unlike a certain vampire here.” Claire quickly commented, surprised to see a monster with manners residing here. Her eyes quickly caught Sirius’s appearance, quickly noting how young he seemed to be compared to his liege; his hair was wild, stopping at his shoulders and was dyed a platinum blonde. Beautiful fair skin, similar to that of his liege, and equally stunning crimson red eyes.
“Ah, you must be the new intern! Apologies for being rude…” Sirius apologized, bowing at Claire before continuing to introduce himself to her properly, “I’m Sirius, and I see you are already acquainted with my master, Alucard, already.”
Sirius paused once more as he slid over to Claire and began to whisper in her ear, “His real name is Dracula, but everyone here calls his Alucard, so as to not get him confused with the other Fakecula’s.”
“That’s a bit clever…” Claire comments as she watches Sirius cheerfully walk over to Alucard and grab his sleeve, dragging him away while speaking once more to Claire,
“Again, apologies for my master’s behavior— he does this with everyone he doesn’ t trust.”
And with that, the two vampires had left the room.
“Okay…” Claire paused, clearly trying to wrap her head around what had just transpired, “I can see that this will be an interesting internship.”
Athena giggled, “Oh quite; there’s never a dull moment with the others around.”
“How many monsters reside here again?”
“Oh, there’s only four currently, and you already met with two of them.” Athena smiles at Claire before feeling a vibration on her wrist, quickly glancing down at her wrist watch and noticing that she’s also being summoned by Arlo, “Excuse me, Master Arlo is calling me.”
With a quick bow, Athena turned around and walked outside the room, leaving the new intern alone in her chambers.
A sigh released from Claire’s lips, as she started to wonder to herself, Just what in the hell did I sign up for?
