Dylan came out of the shadows. As he got closer, he realized the woman was Rose. He asked what she was doing here, and she just gave him a blank expression.
"That should be my question," she turned.
At this point, Dylan was able to see what was in her hands. It was a bird. She had killed the snake to save the bird.
"I didn't know you were a hunter," he admitted.
"It's not something you make public," she replied.
Rose then turned to the tree in front of her looking for something on the branches.
"What are you looking for?"
"The bird's nest, which I just found."
Dylan offered to take the bird back up to its nest since it could be dangerous for Rose. Again, Rose stared at him, or rather, glared at him. Dylan slowly backed off and left her alone. He watched as she climbed up the tree using only one hand while holding the bird in the other.
It didn't take her long to reach the top. She carefully placed the bird in its nest, then jumped from the tree branch. Panicked, Dylan ran under her, hoping to catch her. Except Rose didn't need saving. She latched onto the nearest branch, swung herself forward, and let go. She glided through the air for a short moment, then landed on her feet in the grass below.
Dylan stood silently.
Rose crossed her arms.
"Wow," she glared. "You are shallow."
"Huh?" He asked, snapping back to reality.
"Last night, it was written all over your face."
It took Dylan a moment to understand what she meant. Then, it dawned on him.
How he acted when he knew Rose was being hurt. He thought she was weak. He reacted that way because he had seen it before.
"It looks like," he began. "I-um-...Rose--"
"Save it," she stopped. "I don't need your pity, or, rather, your fake pity," Rose turned to the snake behind her.
She bent down to grab the snake, holding it by its head.
By the time Dylan could react, she was already gone. She had stunned him, shamed him, and the worst part was...she was right. In Osuku, everyone is treated equally. It wasn’t a utopia. There were still many conflicts, but they understood that everyone within the kingdom is treated the same. However, Dylan seemed to have forgotten that the human world had its own set of rules far from perfect.

That night Aidan laid in his bed. He had a hard time sleeping. All he could think about was what Rose said to him.
He was shallow.
He didn't help her because he thought it was pointless. If anything, he should've, at least, pretended to care.
"No," he sighed. "Rose would...only hate me more."
It was at that moment that Aidan realized something. He wanted to prove her wrong and earn her respect, but why? Was it because Aidan's a prince who's supposed to succeed his father? Or was it the fact that no one ever told him he was shallow?
Aidan stayed awake the entire night just thinking about it. By the time morning came, he had large bags under his eyes. He was exhausted from all the thinking.
He decided to go to Rose and apologize. He thought that would be enough, but...it was better than doing nothing.
After getting dressed, he made his way to the human world and started to look for Rose. He found her in the town. She was alone looking at the merchant stands.
From afar, he could see her clearly; using all his strength, he called her.
"ROSE!" He shouted.
It got her attention as well as everyone else in the area.
"I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!" He shouted again.
Rose stared at him. He was clearly an idiot.
Once again, Dylan took a breath and showed, "IT'S IMPOR---"
BAM!
The sound of an object hitting something.
THUD!
The sound of someone falling to the ground was heard all over.
Rose threw an apple at Dylan. She didn't care and was glad to shut him up.
She paid the vendor then walked over to the dead body. With the apple next to his head and a giant bump on the top, Dylan laid on the ground unconscious
Rose stared at him. "You must be an idiot," she said.
