As I used my lunch break to go get the coffee I wanted as I walked down the street following the GPS directions that played over my Bluetooth headphones as I usually had music going which would randomly be interjected with the GPS telling me where to turn and what street to go down.
It was a very small and almost hidden from the main roads, it was a good place, but fairly soon after I got my to-go coffee, a figure ran past me making me drop said coffee as I saw bills flutter out of their hands and pockets as someone screaming followed suit. I sighed as I cracked my neck and just followed suit, breaking into a full tilt sprint as I am trained and used to do, the person turned and ducked down a smaller street. I followed and saw them running ahead as I kept following as I saw more bills flutter out of their hands, it looked like maybe a mid-teenager, maybe sixteen-seventeen or so years old, hoodie, jeans, and the various sort as I followed behind. They looked around as if looking for something specific before running down an alley that to my knowledge was a head-end, they were checking alleys for something before they dipped down that one.
As I ran up to the entrance to the alley, I saw the kid run through a large open doorway…that shouldn’t be here, so I followed. However, as I got to where that doorway was…I couldn’t believe what I was seeing: all of the bricks of the building had twisted on their centre either inwards or outwards and said doorway was…murky and weird. I went to reach for my phone, but some kind of force pulled me into it, and I found myself walking forward. I tripped and stumbled as I was bumped into by someone as I tripped fully onto one of my knees.
I groaned lowly as I rubbed my temples with the heels of my palms as my head was filled with a single toned piercing drone. Bright, bright lights filled my vision as if I was standing in the middle of the square at night as I rose myself to my feet, hearing the rapid bustling of masses of people around me, but the sound of shoes was mixed with…the sound of hoofs and other sounds.
“What…the fuck” I muttered to myself as I stood up and my back met the wall, in front of me was…a city that I did not recognize: ahead of me was a city street that reminded me of pictures of downtown Tokyo, just wall to wall neon everywhere you looked, but the ads were things that I did not recall: brands I didn’t recognize, people that I had never seen before, products I didn’t recognize.
I looked up as I saw a dark shadow skirt overhead and saw…an actual wyvern coast overhead before it twisted and landed on a tall and thin metal post, the wyvern leaned over before I saw a figure walk down the stairs that spiralled down the thin tower. The clack of hoofs made me look over to see a woman who had a horse’s lower body walk past me. I saw a guy in all black and icy pale with glowing red eyes, just walking down the street with a large straw in a large IV blood pouch. I felt panic rising up in my chest as I looked behind me to see if the doorway was still there and…it wasn’t, the bricks were finishing resetting themselves in the wall before they sunk flush into the wall making it return to a seamless brick wall. I started walking just so I wouldn’t stand out as I saw all sorts of crazy things: there was this huge glass tunnel that went through a building that I saw a mermaid swim across the street through the water filled tunnel. I saw a figure whose arms turned to wings at the elbow down as they landed on huge bird feet on the streetlight before letting themselves drop down to the street as they walked over to someone who was waving them down before handing something over before the two ducked into a shop front.
“Where…where the fuck am I?” I asked quietly as I walked, knotting my hands into the material of my shirt as I walked.
A loud sound akin to something along the lines of a lion roar made me look over as a huge full grown gilded lion with eagle back legs and wings landed on the sidewalk, glowing golden before walking forward as a tall man walked from the light, eagle legs and huge wings with a lion’s mane for hair. I saw a group of people that were maybe only a metre or so tall with these large glowing vibrantly coloured wings off their backs as they moved about the street. I heard a loud creaking sound as I saw a massive tree, just moving and walking down the street on massive root limbs as they crossed the street in just a single step or so.
I stepped off of the road and walked into a large park as I breathed deeply and sat down on a bench, trying to just breath properly as I looked around at all of the crazy shit that was happening around me.
“What the fuck? What the fuck” I asked myself as I looked around, just almost having a panic attack.
“Oh…I know that look.” A voice said making me jump as a I felt a hand on my shoulder, a woman sat on the bench as well, from what I could tell…she was like me, she didn’t have any extra limbs or anything weird or strange about her like everyone I could see around me. She motioned to her eyes, her eyes…didn’t match too: her left was dark green, and her right was icy pale blue. She was dressed nicely, and she had a few sort of strange small, cleanly cut crystals floating around her head in an even ring around her head as she sighed looking out over the park, completely brushing off the fact I was having a full-on panic attack just beside her. “Everyone’s first time seeing all of this is crazy, don’t worry…you get used to it the more you learn and the longer you spend here too.” She said in the poshest Scottish accent I had ever head.
“What…what do you mean? Where…where am I? Who are you? When am I?” I asked feeling the panic still going mad in my chest. She just laughed softly as she wafted her hand dismissing me.
“Welcome to Towerblock, one of the hidden magical city right under London’s nose” she said with a laugh, “Don’t worry, Seers like the two of us aren’t exactly werewolf or faire-folk common, but we’re not stupidly rare either.”
“What do you mean…a Seer?”
