“To put it simply, magic is real and…there is basically a whole second world to Earth that is hidden magically by the people that made the cities. An underlayer to the world for all of magics safety and everyone’s safety, like a second skin. Seers are humans…no magic, nothing added, but for some reason, Seers are born with eyes like ours or that famous model you see on a lot of perfume ads, we have the innate ability to just…see through illusions and we can interact with magic as if we weren’t, with enough training and contact with magic we can learn to use it, but DNA wise there is nothing different between all of us and regular humans that have no idea all of this is here.” She said
“Do…do you even hear what you’re saying?”
“And can you see what you’re around?” she asked with a snide tone motioning around the two of us as she motioned to a person who swirled in the air before landing revealing a huge pair of dragonfly like wings adorned their back.
“How…how has all of this been here?” I asked
“Magic is designed to keep all of this hidden from all the humans, so…it doesn’t exactly get talked about.” She said with a shrug, “There’s all sorts of people and things here, you can easily find something that’ll let you pass through the doorways like the rest of us Seers, it takes…a while to get enough magic to be able to open and use them ourselves.” She added as she took something out of her pocket, it looked like a keychain, but made of woven flowers on a small bronze ring.
“But…but…”
“Enjoy yourself while you’re here. Magic can do anything and or everything you want. Plus, these places make traveling a breeze, that massive tower over there, the big silver one.” She motioned pointing to this very, very tall, and thin looking tower that rose far above the skyline, “That is the G.T.T, global teleportation tower…they have doorways all over the world in there that everyone can freely use without any kind of papers needed.”
“Everywhere?”
“At least like every capital city in the world, save for the States and Russia there’s a few for Russia and the U.S has one for each state, so…you’ve got a massive number of locations to choose from.”
“But, how…how do I go back?”
“Just buy one of these, a lot of places sell them. Find a doorway marked with the symbol of a crown over an ornate ring and hold the charm up to it and you can walk back out into dingy London and just as easily come back. But if you get caught trying to bring a non-Seer in here…they will arrest you and a lot of crazy shit happens.”
“I’m part of the police.”
“Not here.” She said before motioning to an actual Pegasus that flew around before landing as the horse body shifted into humanoid with wings and horse hoof feet, dressed in a familiar bobby officer uniform, but a dark green colour instead of the navy-black that I was used to, and all of the silver was gold and in place of a billy-club on their hip was what looked like some kind of wand. “And absolutely do not get yourself involved with one of the warlords.”
“Who?”
“Some huge crazy family or something, they’re all cousins…but there’s like one in charge of every continent and then some, the U.K has its own as does the Iberian Peninsula, but all of Europe is under one of their control…the eldest has control over all of the oceans in the world…they’re just absurdly powerful and infamous celebrities to the magical world.” She offered with a shrug, “I don’t know much about them really, I’ve only had my eyes opened to all of this being here for maybe…three months.”
“Months?”
“As I said, you get used to it. Enjoy your stay” she added before standing and looking around as she just wove towards something in the air, she reached out as a vine lashed out and wrapped around her hand and arm as it pulled her onto the back of this huge swirling vine that was bounding between buildings as it moved through the cavernous city around me.
“How am I supposed to get used to all of this?” I snapped at myself as I looked down towards the pale cream coloured stone pathways, the bright lights around me, the sound of thousands of people among the vehicles, the sound of weird sound-effects as flashes of colours and lights as people casted spells.
I stood up as I just started walking again, looking around to see if I could find another one of those doorways that that woman mentioned with the crown above the ring logo, I didn’t see anything, but I couldn’t find where those charms were sold or anything of that. I wrapped my arms around me a little tighter as I walked, trying to keep myself as small and as out of the way and out of view as possible as I looked around the city as I tried to see if I could find those charms or at least the doorway and wait around for someone to use it so I can get out of here…it’s too much, how can I just…go along with all of these things happening around me? How could I just…at the drop of a hat, accept that magic is real and all of the creatures I’ve read about in stories and fairy-tales are real. There was a fucking wyvern when I walked into this craziness. She called it Towerblock, I think.
“What the fuck? What the fuck? What the fuck?” I muttered to myself as I saw all sorts of strange, crazy and or weird things happening around me, all sorts of magic, people that were literally like they stepped out of the pages of a picture book, looking as magical as anything depicted in a kid’s picture-book: a woman that looked like she was a medieval princess as magic swirled around her, I saw someone who was fully floating off the ground as these rings of fire swirled around them keeping them suspended as they floated off into the city as I just kept…wandering.
