Max’s house
I start to roll onto my front porch bracing myself for this conversation. About five minutes ago me and Carter were walking home from his baseball practice and when my house was in view, we saw his mom standing on my porch. Before even thinking i told Carter to run around back and go to my room from my window. I just hope he got there.
I stop in front of her, her long black hair falling around her face. She’s wearing a red dress and heels. Any one else would probably say she looked good but to me she just looks scary.
“Is there anything i can do for you?” I say trying my damnedest to sound clueless. Sounds like its working to me.
“Have you seen my son? I haven’t seen him all morning.” She says as she crosses her arm in the most proper way I’ve ever seen anyone cross their arms.
In my head i say “oh like you care bitch.” But i keep my composure and act as calm i can with this bitch on my porch.
“He’s not home? He wasn’t at school today, i thought he was out sick.” I say in my innocence voice sounding like i have no idea where he his. Heh i do though. Carter may be able to see through my lies but his mom never will.
She hesitates for a minute and I’m trying my best not to look nervous.
“Mm... ok. Well tell him i want him home when i see him.”
“Ok, ma’am. Bye”
“Goodbye, Maxwell”
When she gets back in her car, i hurry inside discreetly. When i close the door behind me i let out a loud sigh of relief.
I peek out the window to make sure she’s gone. I turn towards the direction of my room and yell “she’s gone!”
Funnily enough as soon as my mouth closes, Carter peeks his head around the corner of the hall. His face is so cautious it makes me chuckle.
To be continued
