“Harry don't!” I yelled. 

It was too late, the guy wasn't going to stop. He had his blade out, so I pulled my gun out. 

The Parasite in front of us followed along as it came charging forward pulling its stinger out, this one had its stinger coming from the head. 

We were dead unless Toby came soon. CLANG! Harry ran forward and stabbed the Parasite clean in the leg, the metallic killer wasn't affected. 

Random shots around the body did nothing to it, I knew that much. This was still a smaller one, that meant a shot in the eye would work. 

“Harry, the left eye!” I screamed. 

He looked back at me before nodding, “Leo, you gotta get rid of the stinger. Then I'll get the eye”. 

I looked at the Parasite for a good ten seconds before deciding my move. After taking the opposite of a deep breath, I ran forward with my gun behind. 

“I am Parasite!”. 

A light glowing ahead stopped me from going forward, “I am Parasite!”. 

I suddenly realized what was happening. The beam, I didn't think this one would even be able to produce one! 

“Damn it, no!” Harry shouted. 

My eyes met at the exact point the beam was about to come from, I knew there was no running from it, the range was too far. There was nothing we could do, absolutely nothing. BANG! 

My body was sent back far, it was dark for a second but things slowly began showing, I felt numb but not dead.

Wait, I wasn't dead? What the heck?! Holy crap I didn't die! 

“Get in the truck Leo!”. 

I looked up, my head was spinning, but I could still see someone standing in front of me. It was Toby, the guy actually came. 

“Get in the truck!” he yelled. 

I nodded and pushed myself up, my surroundings didn't change, that meant nothing blew up and somehow the beam didn't do anything.

Did Toby stop it? But how? There was no way he could have done anything, right? I pushed myself up, there were a lot of things I didn't understand, but right now Toby was screaming his lungs out calling for me. 

He was standing beside a large vehicle I hadn't seen in a long damn time, a truck. And it was working, he used it to come here, how the heck did he get one? 

“Leo, get your goddamn body over here!”.

Crap, what was I doing! I had to move, but my dizzy mind made it extremely hard. 

The beam didn't go off, if it did the entire place around me would have been burned to the ground and I wouldn't even be alive to see it. 

But that meant something happened that caused me to go flying back, a collision? That didn't matter, I had to move. 

Luckily, Toby decided to just start the truck instead of waiting for me and he came right upfront, I hoped in right away. 

Now, this thing was not what I expected. It looked like that vehicle I always wanted to sit in as a kid, you know, the one with long seats, led lights and tv screens! It was that crazy. My guy Toby had this truck with him during the apocalyptic doom of reality. 

At least he had good taste. Emma, Harry and Jason were already inside, Toby was at the front with the wheel.

“Toby, the heck you do in your free time?” I asked. 

He smiled, “don’t worry about it, not important right now. You guys are lucky I came when I did, that Parasite would have finished you all”. 

I turned towards him as he pushed the pedal down harder, “what happened to the beam?” 

“The truck tanked it, simple as that” he replied. 

I swear I almost slapped him, the truck tanked it?! Yea right.“The truck tanked it, really?”. 

He nodded with a straight face, this guy was serious. 

God damn he was prepared, “it's gonna take about thirty minutes to get back to my base. Just chill out and wait” he said. 

I was about to go sit down but Toby nudged me to stop.

“Leo, you stay here. We need to talk”.

I nodded and waited for him to say something, “you didn't kill Jason like I told you. I'm telling you right now, he isn't coming to my base. He’s dangerous and you know it”. 

“Toby, just help me out, as an ally. Come on, let him in for now and I'll deal with everything later” I told him. 

He smirked, “as an ally? I'm glad that's how you feel, but Jason is no ally of mine. He’s a future threat, I'm not gonna risk anything”. 

“Jason is no threat Toby!” I yelled slightly too loud. 

“Not yet he isn't, but he will be. If you want him to come to my base, he stays there a week tops. After that, one of us is gonna do it”. 

“You're a lot more than that desperate guy we saved before huh?” I said. 

“That's how you survive in this place” he answered. 

Couldn't argue with that, he was right. 

"Now about the wave, I didn't really know about that. What do you know?”. 

“I thought you would know about it?” I replied. 

He shook his head, the only reason I knew about it was because Luis told me. 

I was surprised to see myself referring to him by that already, he was still a random person, potentially dangerous. 

But then how was he able to text me? How did he know my name? How did he know the wave was coming? 

Damn it, this random dude was sketchy, but he saved me and the others. 

I didn't know what to think of him, “well Leo. go sit down, we can talk later” Toby said. 

I went back and took a seat without saying anything, PING! I looked down, it was the watch! And Luis, it was him messaging again!
