"Can you come in? Probably. Just say you're my sister or something, we both got weird hair. Ah, hey Tam!"
"Hey Yu...had a kid?!"
"Hah! Funny, no, this is my cousin niece sister person, haven't decided yet. Remember I told you last night I got chased by some guy?"
"Yeah, did he turn out to be some creep after all?"
"No idea, but I stayed at my pa's place 'till like 4 am or something and then I ran out of the place 'till I got here."
"By To- the fuck happened?"
"I'll tell you later, but basically, I wasn't able to bring her home so she's staying on campus 'till school ends, then I'll go back to my place."
"Can you even go back? The window's completely broken, right?"
"I'll figure something out."
"Like how you need to figure out whether she's your cousin, niece or sister?"
"Bring the skeptical talk back to the 200's, she's a family member and that's all you need to know."
"Uh-huh...hey little girl, if Yume does anything to you, just tell me and I'll rush right over, okay?" Lili nodded.
"I'M NOT INTERESTED IN KIDS AND WHY ARE YOU NODDING!"
Yume told Tam and Nier what basically happened and they weren't too shocked.
"Gosh...you really need to be more careful, you know? You're getting chased by people like every other day..."
"Hehe, sorry."
"I mean, with bombs like yours I'd be chasing you too."
"I don't wanna take that from you of all people."
"Hey, I'm careful!"
"Uh-huh." Both of them replied extreeeeemely skeptically.
"By the way, Lili, you wouldn't happen to have amnesia or anything, right?"
"Umm...I don't think so."
"Hmm..."
"What's up?"
"I've been trying to find her parents but got no luck. Haven't been trying too hard though."
"Oh yeah, you've been separated fro- ow!"
"We don't talk about it, remember? Sorry Yume."
"It's fine Nier, been so long ago that it hardly matters. Anyway, I've no idea where her parents are and she has no idea who they are so we've kinda been stuck."
"So that's why you asked, well remember if you need any help, we're more than happy to."
"Yeah, we'll come straight away!"
"Thanks Nier."
"What about me!"
It was a very hectic day, from morning 'till she got home but she could finally rest. The landlord seemed to guess what happened and had already repaired the window leaving a note that simply said:
"You're paying that, you know."
"Yeah yeah, I know. So Lili...what're you doing?" She was just standing in front of the door. "C'mon come in. I'll take the couch so you can sleep on my bed in the room cross there. You should probably take a bath first though..."
While Yume was thinking aloud, Lili came in and closed the door behind her. She first put down the small purse she was carrying and then took off her clothes, hopping in the bath without a second thought.
Yume watched it happen and just snickered, thinking, "Must've had a rough bit. Probably only heard a bit of what I said and just jumped straight in, what a weird girl."
Yume started cooking and by the time the girl came out, everything was ready. "AHH! SHIT, TOWEL, LILI, BACK IN." Water was dripping down and getting all over the floor. Yume quickly came back with a towel and started drying Lili off. Lili, just realising what she did, embarassed, took the towel from Yume and started drying herself on her own.
"Heh, don't worry, you have those days sometimes. Take any of the clothes you find in the dresser in my room, some of 'em might be too big but there should be at least one that fits. You can have dinner after that and then you can sleep in my room and I'll sleep on the couch like I said."
"Umm...is your room safe?"
"..." Yume stared at her thinking, she was clearly scared and it was obvious why, but she didn't feel like a kid who had a scary experience. More like a tired office worker who had a bit too much on her plate and someone tried to pickpocket them. Scary? Yes, but the stress and fatigue overtook any other feelings in the end.
In the end, Yume just patted her on the head and said, "It's the safest room here and in case anything happens, I'll come and protect you, okay?" Lili nodded and walked to go wear her clothes. They both thought, 'I've always wanted a sibling.'
