I held the weathered journal in my lap. Being told who my grandmother was only answered so many questions. 

Some pages had fallen out and been put back in. While others had been lost all together. 

It's was clear that this had been a personal journal. 

Opening to the first page I hesitantly begin to read. 

"I have sent Moirai to carry out a task for me. In a bag I have put a part of my soul. They believe it necessary to give this power to a man and his boy, who is only two years old, so that they may protect themselves. And eventually, us." 

Most of the words aren't legible. 

Its many more pages of washed out words before I find anything legible. I'm filled with confusion. 

Am I supposed to believe this is real? I can't help but believe that this woman is just messing with me. Pages are sticking together because of water damage, and some have holes burned through them. It's a while before I find one that is legible. 

"Part of my soul has been given to the small family. I've met with them secretly. If my family knew they would insist on protecting me. 

Jonas has already started practicing using his new gifts. But his son is to young. I won't have much time with them. As Jonas will have to leave for good soon. When we meet I feel guilt. But he tells me to remember that he chose this. 

But how can I not feel this way when because of me he much leave to a different reality?"

I don't notice I have started crying till a tear drop has hit the page I'm reading. My father, Jonas, knew he was in danger. That's why he went to Nyx in the first place. 

Something had to have happened. 

I hold the hold the book to my chest quietly crying. Not allowing myself to be heard by the sleeping people around me. Or by Jon who had just recently felt like a friend, and might ask questions. 

I realized, I have more questions than answers. I still don't know anything about my past really. And all I knew was a name. 

In that moment, Sebastian shifted. He grabs onto my side, and pulls me close. Shifting his body so he is almost laying on me.
