Grant had only been living in his apartment for a few days when it was broken into by a half-naked man.
He was sitting at his kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee when the rattling sound of his front door caught his attention.
He watched as the knob turned left and right then up a little.
It creaked open and a man wearing just his boxers waltzed right in and closed the door behind him.
"What-" was all Grant was able to say before the intruder spotted him.
The intruder let out a startled scream, clutching his chest as he stumbled back, hitting the door.
"Who are you?" The intruder asked.
"I live here," Grant replied tersely, an edge in his voice as his hand curled around his mug. “Who are you?”
The intruder let his hands fall to his side and looked around— as if seeing the place for the first time.
"Oh," the intruder said, shifting on his feet. "Oops. My bad." He gave an awkward smile. "I didn't know the place got rented out already."
"I moved in this past weekend." Grant's brows knitted, eyes narrowed, jaw set as he studied the intruder. "Who are you? How did you get in? That door was locked."
“Oh, I’m hiding,” the intruder then quickly added as he put his hands up, “but not from like the law or anything.”
“Of course, because the law allows breaking and entering.”
“Um, haha, you’ve got me there,” the intruder said, seemingly forgetting he wasn’t wearing any pants and trying to shove his hands into non-existent pockets.
He didn't seem like a threat, Grant determined.
The guy was maybe 5'8, messy black hair and a lean frame, looked more like a runner than a fighter.
His lack of clothes helped Grant assess that he wasn't carrying any weapons.
His blue boxers with kola’s printed all over also helped make the guy seem less threatening.
But, if it got to it, Grant was more than sure he could easily overpower him.
"Uh, I’m Mark," the intruder, Mark, continued, smiling sheepishly as he pointed at himself.
He looked at the door, "and um, as to how I got in, well it's all in the uh, the jiggle," he demonstrated the action with his hand as if he was a salesman showing a customer how to use an appliance.
Grant’s brows furrowed deeper and Mark’s grin faltered and blush deepened.
"Umm, I'm gonna,” Mark said, reaching for the door handle, “I should— Sorry, about all this. I'll leave now."
"Wait!" Grant called out, but Mark was already walking out, closing the door behind him.
Grant stared at it, a part of him wanting to chase after him to get some more answers, but instead, he took another sip of his coffee.
"That was weird." He finally said after he finished his coffee.
In the hallway, Mark was hiding behind a plant in the corner, trying his best to calm down the blush on his face.
