Snappy laughs wickedly as the white seeds slowly move towards you. You stand there, frozen, as they creep closer and closer. Just before they make contact with you, they... 

They stop. 

The laughing abruptly stops. Snappy looks astonished. 

Suddenly, you feel strength return to your body, and immediately scoot a few feet further from Snappy.

“Wh... What did you do? You little-”

Suddenly, a blurry white shape shoots through the air, hitting Snappy in the head. Snappy yelps in pain, holding his head in his leaves. He shoots a glare in the direction of whatever attacked him, then dives into the ground. You decide not to question how he does that.

Nervously, you step toward the item on the floor, then kneel down and pick up the item. It looks like a bone of some sort. Interesting. You pocket the strange item, and pull your body upright again.

You hear some strange garbled sounds behind you. Startled, you whip around to see where the noise came from. A tall man stands before you with a kind look on his face, but he doesn’t look quite right. He doesn’t have any hair whatsoever, and his skin is deathly pale. Wait, does he even have skin? Your gaze shifts up to his eyes, and you realize he doesn’t have any. 

Your fear grows. Who is he? What is he? How is he even alive? What does he want? The bone suddenly disappears in your hand, making you panic even more.

The man steps forward and starts reaching out to you. You try to move away in a backward crawl, slipping on the sleeve of your shirt. Then the man stops. You look up to see a worried look on his face, and he steps back. 

The man clears his throat, then opens his mouth to speak.

Wait, what? 

You couldn’t make out a word of what he was saying if they were even words at all. It just sounded like garbled gibberish. The man sees the confused look on your face, and he repeats himself. More indistinguishable noise. 

Realizing that you don’t understand, he clears his throat and switches to English.

“Are you hurt, little one? I'm so sorry, that little flower comes out here almost every day. Worry not, I will protect you.”

“My name is Gaster. Please, let me guide you through the catacombs.”
