(1/2) Wedding Announcement

Chapter setting: Modern AU

Part 1/2

“How are you going to tell him?”

Song Jian broke the silence that was formed after he gave Lei Ying some proper “advices” subsequent to the news the young told him, like sign a pre-marital contract or always have a back up plan in case the marriage wasn’t prosperous. They both were sitting on the youngest's bed, as he called his jiujiu to his room to speak with him.

“I don’t know.” Lei Ying said, swallowing hard. “He is not gonna like it.”

“Definitely not. But I’ll back you up, don’t worry.”

Telling Chen Hua the news, knowing how protective he was towards Lei Ying and how much he disliked Fang Jin -or anyone who would try to “steal” the young from him-, was going to be catastrophic. Lei Ying bit the nail of his thumb, anxious, trying to think in a good plan.

“Fang Jin wanted to tell him himself, to show proper respect, but-“

“But it’s gonna be his funeral if he does it.” Song Jian sighed, massaging his own temple. “He has good intentions, but in this situation it’s better to be practical.”

“I thought the same.” As he was done biting the nail, he started to bit the other thump’s nail. “I think tonight could be a good moment to tell him. I can prepare his favorite food… He is in good spirits after your honeymoon, and if I do some things for him-“

“You are overthinking this too much, A-Ying.” Song Jian took his hand for him to stop destroying his poor nails. “It’s a good plan, but you don’t have to work too much on this. It’s your life. You are old enough to know what to do, and if you are happy, we will be happy. He will be angry at first, but he has to understand that this is your decision. Just be patient.”

Lei Ying let him style a bit his hair while he spoke, looking at him. After Song Jian seemed satisfied with his hair, he smiled to the young.

“I want to prepare dinner for him anyway.” Lei Ying said, still nervous.

“I’ll help you. And A-Ying:” Song Jian caressed his cheek softly. “Congratulations. I know your marriage is going to be happy and prosperous.”

Lei Ying let out a tiny laugh, feeling his eyes sting before he hugged his jiujiu strongly. The older hugged him back, stroking his back.

“But, you know, if anytime you need to hide a body, you can count on us.”

“Jiujiu!”

“Yes, yes, congratulations.”

——

Lei XianLiang was very grateful for his jiujiu helping him out with the dinner, as he almost settled the kitchen on fire twice. There was something wrong about his cooking skills that he could never understand, but with Song Jian helping him, the kitchen didn’t end being destroyed.

When Chen Hua arrived at home that day, just an hour after Song Jian and Lei Ying had the conversation, he was welcomed with plenty of hugs and kisses by the young. With the excuse that he missed them while they were away in their honeymoon, Lei Ying lavished Chen Hua all day: they went all together to have a nice walk, which ended having lunch in a quiet place outside. Lei Ying proposed, then, to go to the cinema as they were near. They did, letting Chen Hua decide the movie. After that, they came back home, and Lei Ying asked for letting him to brush the other’s hair once he had his shower, what was followed by a nice back massage before he started to cook his favorite meal for dinner.

Chen Hua was almost floating between clouds with so much tender and cute attention being given to him by his sweet child. Even Song Jian was more affectionate with him -but he had been since they had their proper wedding-.

“Ah- Look! Now my favorite food? Today is being the best day ever!” Chen Hua chuckled, but then looked at Song Jian. “After our wedding day, of course.” Song Jian rolled his eyes, sitting down in the table.

“I just missed you both a lot while you were away, so I wanted to spend some time with. And you always cook, it was time to help a bit with that, isn’t it?” Lei Ying sat down too, kissing Chen Hua’s cheek for who knew which time in that day.

“What did we do to deserve such a good kid.” Chen Hua sighed happily, taking then his cup up for doing a toast. “For more family days like this!”

“Yes!” Both Lei Ying and Song Jian toasted too. When they put their glasses down, they both shared a look. Song Jian nodded. “And I…” Lei Ying startled, cleaning his throat. “I have more happy things to share!”

“Oh, yes? And what is it?” Chen Hua asked, excited. He had a bite of his food, making a grimace. Still, he tried to smile. “A-Ying, your food is… interesting.”

“Well, I… The thing is…” He cleared his throat one more time. Suddenly it was hot in the room, and he felt like fanning himself a bit. But he controlled himself. After taking a big and deep breath, he said it. ”Fang Jin and me are getting married!”

The silence came over them. Song Jian was looking at Chen Hua cautiously, and Lei Ying was trying to put his best “this is a happy new!” face. But Chen Hua just looked at the young for long seconds, his smile intact, and then went back to eat.

“Maybe next time I should cook with you. Don’t get me wrong, A-Ying, this is great! But I can teach some cooking tricks.”

Song Jian sighed, and Lei Ying looked at his jiujiu confused. He was tense, waiting for a proper reaction.

“Shushu, did you... hear what I said?” He asked with a tiny voice.

“Aham, I did. And my answer is: no”. Chen Hua smiled at him, pointing then with his head something in the table. “Can you pass me the salt, please, A-Ying?”

Lei Ying looked one more time at Song Jian, without knowing exactly what to do. He took the salt and passed it to Chen Hua, slowly.

“But… shushu, shouldn’t we talk about this?”

“About what?” Chen Hua looked “confused”. “Ah! The you getting married with that person? No, I don’t think so. I said no, so, what else is there to discuss?” He salted a bit his food, trying it then, nodding. “Better. Look, if you put some-“

“But it wasn’t a question.” Lei Ying said, frowning his eyebrows. “I am getting married with Fang Jin. I wasn’t asking.”

Chen Hua finally glanced at Lei Ying serious. Song Jian sighed, saying something similar to “I need some alcohol” to himself.

“And if I don’t agree with that, what then? You are going to disobey me?” Chen Hua chuckled, his gaze then on Song Jian, as if he was saying ‘can you believe this?’, while he took his cup for a sip.

“Yes.”

Chen Hua almost chocked on his drink, starting to cough then. Song Jian closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, as he pretended he wasn’t hearing or seeing anything.

“WHAT did you say?!” Chen Hua asked after he recovered, frowning his eyebrows.

“If I have to disobey you to marry him, I will.” Lei Ying was trying to be as serious as he could, but he felt his own hands shacking, anxious.

“Look!! This is exactly why I don’t want you to go with him! How can you say something like that?! He is making you say this kind of things!”

“Fang Jin has nothing to do with what I’m saying! You are the one making me saying this!”

“ME?! How in ear- Look, I don’t care, but you overstepped. Apologize right now!”

“I have nothing to apologize for!”

“Do you think it’s normal to speak to me with this tone?! And this behavior?!”

“You are the one not taking this matter seriously, deciding by yourself such an important thing without even consider what I want! You should be the one apologizing!”

“Lei Ying!” Chen Hua stood up, slamming the table. “How do you dare?! I didn’t know we had such a disrespectful, thoughtless brat in this house!”

“I’m not any of that!” Lei Ying stood up too. Song Jian just kept drinking, quiet. “I have been always grateful and respectful with you, and now that I tell you this, instead of being happy for me you just react like an asshole!”

Even Song Jian gasped. It took some moments for Chen Hua to react to what the young said, but even being like that, he didn’t knew what he was doing until he felt Song Jian’s hand grabbing his wrist: he was about to slap Lei Ying, and Lei Ying himself didn’t move at all.

“Enough, you both!”

“You ungrateful, unfilial rascal! An asshole?! You wanna see me being an asshole?! Fine! While you live under this roof, I forbid you from seeing that Fang Jin again!”

“You…!” Lei Ying pressured his teeth, feeling his eyes sting.

None of them said anything else. The young turned back and went to his room, slamming the door. Only then Song Jian let Chen Hua’s wrist free.

“Did you see that?! What a behavior!” Chen Hua said, looking then at Song Jian. “What?”

“If I see you trying to slap him one more time, I’ll cut your hand.”

“What?! You are on his side?! A-Jian, you saw how he spoke to me!”

“What did you expect from him with the answer you gave him?” Song Jian was frowning his eyebrows, taking his drink one more time to take a sip.

“So what did you want me to answer?! Of course I-“

They heard then the door of Lei Ying's bedroom being opened, him going out of it with a carrying a backpack. Chen Hua and Song Jian did the same gesture, their brows going up. But when Lei Ying approached the main door, Chen Hua went to him.

“Where do you think you are going?! You are obviously grounded!” He shouted.

“You said I can’t see Fang Jin again while I live in this house, so, fine! I won’t live here anymore!” Lei Ying opened the door.

“What ridiculous no-sense are you saying?! Close that door right now!”

Lei Ying looked one more time to Chen Hua, his eyes red and wet, angry and upset. He didn’t say anything else before going out, slamming the door.

“What the- Lei Ying!!” Chen Hua approached the door, opening it. “Lei Ying, come back inside right now!! Lei Ying!! LEI YING!!”

Before he could go after him, Song Jian practically pulled Chen Hua back inside the house, closing the door while trying to control the other.

“What the fuck are you doing, Song Jian!! He is going!! He is going!!!!”

“Chen Hua, calm down!! You need to calm down right now!” They both were struggling in each other’s arm, Song Jian trying to make Chen Hua to stay while Chen Hua was trying to get free and go after Lei Ying.

“You idiot, let me go right now!!! Song Jian, stop it!! LET ME GO!!”

He pushed strongly Song Jian against the door, but he didn’t expect to use so much strength that he practically slammed him against the door. Song Jian did a painful grimace after the hit, closing his eyes, letting himself slide down against the door to the floor.

“A-Jian!” Chen Hua reacted fast, helping the other to stand up. “A-Jian, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean-“

“I know.” Song Jian sighed, but instead of standing up, he pulled the other’s hand to make him sit with him in the ground. “I need you to calm down, A-Hua. Please.”

Chen Hua pressed his lips together, frowning his eyebrows one more time, upset. But Song Jian didn’t let go his had, now caressing the back of it with his thumb.

“You saw how he spoke to me!”

“And I saw how you treated him at first, like a kid that doesn't know what he is doing.”

“He is a kid that doesn’t know what he is doing! He-“

“No, A-Hua.” He shook his head, sighing.

“You are on his side, that’s why you are saying this.”

“This is not a battle where I have to pick one or another side, A-Hua, this is Lei Ying telling us he is getting married.”

“I don’t accept it! It should be enough for him to stop this no-sense!”

“Apparently, it’s not.”

“You are just letting him go without fighting! Do whatever you want, but don’t ask me to fucking cross my arms and nod while he goes and leave us!!”

And there was the issue. Song Jian stroke the other’s shoulder with his hand, trying to calm him down.

“A-Hua, I understand what you are feeling, but-“

“No, A-Jian, you don’t fucking understand a thing!” Chen Hua move ferocious, setting himself free and standing up. ”You could see him growing up, he have been with you all the time! You saw him in his last day of high school, you saw him going into university, you have been telling goodnight every day before going to sleep and good morning when you wake up! But you know what? I didn’t! The last memory I have before he came to me again, already grown up, was him not daring to look at me while you both disappeared from my life!! So don’t fucking ask me to not fight with all I have when he fucking decides to go and abandon us!!”

Song Jian said nothing for a while. He was looking at his husband while he shouted everything, upset with him in a way he didn’t see in a very long time. He stood up, walking to the dinning table and taking his own glass and the other’s cup. He emptied them in the sink, looked for the strongest alcohol he had and poured some for himself and the other, taking the cup then and giving it to Chen Hua.

“You are right.” Song Jian said, offering him the cup. ”I don’t ‘fucking’ understand any of that.” Chen Hua pressed his lips, and after some seconds he took the cup. “But what I know is that Lei Ying is so in love with his, now, fiancé, that he decided to fight you. When did he do that before? Our kid adores you, and he would follow you to the end of the world. And you know it.” Chen Hua took a sip of his drink, trying to avoid the other’s gaze on him. “Look, Lei Ying is going to marry and have his own life. It is your choice if he does that with you in his life, or within you. All up to you.”

After long seconds, Chen Hua sighed and let himself rest his head on one of Song Jian’s shoulders, hiding his face.

“I don’t want to speak about this anymore. Please.”

“…” Song Jian hugged him, stroking his back. “We won’t. Let’s eat-”

“Can we order something?”

“Of course we are ordering something, I won’t die because of A-Ying’s food.”
