Tao Qiang/Tao Fen: Fortune God and right hand of Fang Li-Jun before he ascended. He ascends as a god with Wei Li in a battle, helping Fang Li-Jun. Loyal to Fang Li-Jun, he considers him like his brother.

People prays to him seeking for Fortune both in money matters and academic matters when it’s only to him. But he is worshipped with Wei Li too as the gods of love, lovers and marriage.

Wei Li/Wei Xia: Martial God and personal bodyguard of Fang Li-Jun before he ascended. He ascends as a god with Tao Qiang in a battle, helping Fang Li-Jun. Loyal to Fang Li-Jun, he considers him like his brother.

People prays to him looking to become stronger and for protection. But he is worshipped with Tao Qiang too as the gods of love, lovers and marriage. 

Ghost King/Chen Hua: Calamity, he has control over almost all the Ghost Realm. He helped the Ghost Prince to take the four kingdoms down.

Jiujiu/Song Jian: He takes care of Lei XianLiang and raises him.

Emperor of the heavens: He is the one asking Fang Li-Jun, Wei Li, Tao Qiang and Lei XianLiang to find the “key” that opened the portal between the Ghost Realm and the human and heavens realms, that lead to one of the worst wars, before the Ghost King can have it again and goes into another war.

SPOILER FREE Modern AU Characters:

Lei Ying: Raised by Song Jian and Chen Hua. He can see ghosts and tries to help them to solve the matters that attaches them to the human’s realm. He loses part of his memory after an incident, and Song Jian takes him to the countryside. They come back years later for Lei Ying studies.

Fang Jin: Son of a very influent and important family, who is owner of a big company. He is supposed to be the “perfect son” who will own the company in the future. When he meets Lei Ying again years after he comes back from the countryside, he tries to establish contact with him again. He is a lawyer.

Tao Qiang: Son of a influent and important family, he and Fang Li-Jun are practically raised together as their family get along very well. He is supposed to help Fang Li-Jun with the company in the future and be his right hand. Married to Wei Li. He works in cyber security (deciding still).

Wei Li: Orphan, Tao Qiang meets him in the streets and since then has been trying to help him. He even payed his studies and place for him to live when he became 18. Married to Tao Qiang. He is a psychologist, mastered in sex therapy.

Song Jian/Jiujiu: He adopts Lei Ying and raises him with Chen Hua, and they have a past story.

Chen Hua/Shushu: He raises Lei Ying with Song Jian, becoming a “househusband”. But they separated for a while. With Lei Ying’s help, he manages to be forgiven by Song Jian and live with them again as a full-time househusband.

Original setting characters (SPOILERS)

Lei XianLiang/Lei Ying/The Merciful Ghost: From the kingdom of Xi’an. As many Xi’ans, he and his family were used to travel through different routes to sell and buy treasures in the different kingdoms. Normal human before the war, when he becomes a calamity, helping the Ghost King as the Ghost Prince. He destroys all the kingdoms that were involved in the destruction of the Xi’ans. After Fang Li-Jun kills him, he comes back as a ghost but doesn’t remember anything. He starts travelling trying to remember who he was while being alive. 

During his time as the Ghost Prince, he earned the alias “The Merciful Ghost”, as he helped lost ghosts to rest in peace. People pray to him for compassion and protection against resentful ghosts.

Fang Li-Jun/Fang Jin/The Merciless God: Prince of the Kingdom of Changdong, the “dearest of the gods”. When he was born, a fortune-teller said he would ascend as a god, but for it, he would have to fight a calamity. If he failed, the kingdom would be destroyed. He has to wear a mask until he fights this calamities because, apparently, if he shows his face to the people, the calamity would win. He finally ascends after the fight. Before it, he promised Lei XianLiang they would stay together -as friends at the moment- after ascending, so he went into seclusion to focus on ascending as a god. He knew nothing about what was happening to his people.

After going out of seclusion and fighting the calamity, he gets to know what happened to the Xi’ans and goes into rage. He becomes merciless with anyone involved in the Xi’ans massacre. He earns the alias “The Merciless God”, and people prays to him looking for justice. He thought Lei XianLiang died in the war, until he killed the Ghost Prince, realizing too late it was him.

When he meets him again after Lei XianLiang “re-appears”, he goes with him, but tells him nothing about the past. 

Tao Qiang/Tao Fen: From Changdong. Right hand of Fang Li-Jun, their families were closed so they made him serve Fang Li-Jun since he can remember. Because of it, he has a splendid education. His family is known because of its high social status and wealth. When Fang Li-Jun goes into seclusion, his relationship with Wei Li becomes known by everyone and has to leave with him to a far town to hide. They marry in secret. He ascends as a god with Wei Li in a fight against enemies time after that, helping Fang Li-Jun. Loyal to Fang Li-Jun, he considers him like his brother.

Tao Qiang asked the queen to take him to the palace, and after some deliberation, they decided to train Wei Li as the personal bodyguard of Fang Li-Jun. He is the older of the four of them. He is not good neither writing nor reading, and his lack of academic education while he was in the streets can be seen as he doesn’t know as much and the people in court, but he is very educate to everyone and never disrespectful. He has to hide with Tao Qiang when their relationship becomes known, and marries him in secret. In the countryside he pretends to be a woman for not having problems again. He ascends as a god at the same time as Tao Qiang.

Yi Quan: Best friend of Lei XianLiang, a Xi’an too. His family lived in Changdong, they didn’t travel too much because the economy of the Kingdom of Xi’an become worst and worst. He is a Casanova during their teen ages, and makes a drama when he knows his parents decided his future wife, Bi Yu. But when he meets her, he falls in love with her. They had a son. 

Bi Yu: A Xi’an too, her family has a food-related shop in Changdong. She meets Yi Quan and Lei XianLiang some days before her wedding with the former. She wasn’t happy at first, but at the end, they three become inseparable – Yi Quan and her above all-. She had a son with Yi Quan. 

Wu Lin: From a wealthy family of Changdong, Fang Li-Jun’s wife, arranged marriage. They only see each other in their wedding day. Neither of them love each other, but they are respectful towards the other. She had a son with Fang Li-Jun before dying.

He goes to jail after trying to get his revenge, but manages to go out before time because of his contacts. With Lei Ying’s help, he manages to be forgiven by Song Jian and live with them again as a full-time househusband.
