Winter, end of the year.
A time when all beings become more peaceful and go back to their homes, also making it one of the few times of the year hunters have less work than usual.
It was a rare occasion where almost everyone was in the dorm.
On that sunny morning it was Gretel's turn at the kitchen, and she was making breakfast in a good mood.
Perceiving the calendar with the corner of her eye, she gets surprised.
"It'll be solscele soon...!"
Maybe it was due to them being extra busy in the past few weeks, but no one noticed till the last minute.
The people in the living room could clearly hear Gretel's voice, and a little youth in particular got especially excited.
"I'll get presents!"
Red jumped around the living room cheerfully, his arms swinging up and down.
"Há, the brat thinks he'll get anything after being so misbehaved all the time!"
Hansel, who was sitting on the sofa, taunts the youth, who gets shocked as he hears it.
"But I always get presents, so I'm a good boy!"
Gretel, who could clearly hear their voices from the kitchen just as well as they could hear hers from the living room, looks at Hansel.
She didn't say anything, but her eyes made words unnecessary. He understands immediately.
"Stay quiet, or I will kill you, Hansel."
Red looks at him, triumphantly.
For Red, the silence shows there was nothing the weakling could say, as he is indeed a good boy.
For Hansel, he certainly wants to tell the brat some truths, but the increasingly deadly stare coming from the kitchen made it clear his life would, in fact, be in danger if he did.
"We should put the decorations up soon, we're really late..."
Lupin cuts the discussion with something well pointed, when someone comes into the living room carrying boxes.
"Yo, guys, it's solscele!"
Being one step ahead, Katty went to get the stored ornaments as soon as she heard Gretel, with Jack right behind her to make sure she didn't make a mess.
Katty's eyes gleamed with anticipation as she thought about how pretty the house would look when all the decorations were up.
"...I didn't expect us to do it this soon!"
Lupin couldn't imagine they'd be doing it straight away, as soon as they finished their food.
Jack went outside with Hansel to decorate the external part of the house, while the others put the many trinkets on the inner part of it.
Lupin and Katty, who didn't do much before she got bored and sat on the sofa while doing nothing, were set to put the ornaments on the furniture while Gretel decorated the kitchen, and Red put solsceline wreaths on the walls.
Eventually Jack and Hansel went back inside while carrying a solscele's tree, making Katty go back to doing something as they adorned it.
With the house now thoroughly festive, everyone is in the living room drinking eggnog as they rest after the hard work.
"I'm spent..."
Hansel sprawls on the sofa while stretching his arms. He was the one who put the decorations on the entire roof and the chimney while Jack searched for a fitting tree, after they finished embellishing the outer walls and windows.
He was also the one who chopped said tree.
"We barely did any exercise, you're truly a weakling..."
Red laughed from ridiculing Hansel, and Katty from the situation.
"I could see through the window, you barely did anything and used your crossbows to put the wreaths up!"
As she heard that, Gretel put on a mocking smile.
"My, are you saying using weapons doesn't count as hard work, swordsman Hansel?"
Hansel couldn't rebuke his sister, and the other two laughs echoed even louder. He had dug up his own grave without even noticing.
Lupin observed silently with a light smile as his family and friends had fun… While feeling bad for Hansel at the same time.
