Karma(Vigilante Deku)

Rest of chapter 11

Rest of chapter 11

Dec 25, 2021

"Why didn't....heal him before." Hitoshi can hear voices.

"....needs sleep....didn't want to wake him." The words are swimming in his mind and it's impossible to make sense of them.

"He's...ing up." Hitoshi can hear a scampering of feet but the direction they're coming from is unknown to him.

"...you alright. Can...hear me"

"Can you hear me?"

Hitoshi shoots up, feeling a rush of liquid overtake his blood stream. The fogginess of his mind clears and he can focus once again. He looks around trying to figure out what happens. He sees a wall, an unfamiliar wall. That's right he was being kidnapped. Instantly he reaches for his mouth but the muzzle isn't there.

"We took it off." His eyes widening he doesn't dare look in the direction of the voice, instead he feels for his neck. It's bare.

He's confused, he has no idea what's happening, this isn't right, this isn't where he's supposed to be. He's supposed to be at the house, safe and warm. Supposed to be able to hear the tv all the way from upstairs and the rasping of the tree as it hits against his bedroom window. He's supposed to-

He feels a hand take his and rest it against his chest, his breath hitches. A man infront of him raises his arm so Hotoshi's other hand is now placed on their chest as well.

"Do you think you can match my breathing." Refusing to look up Hitoshi slowly nods.

He continues to take a deep breath in and let it out till he's calm and able to match the mans breaths. Satisfied the man pulls away and Hitoshi finally dares to look up. Standing next to him is a boy, the same boy from his hallucination, although considering what was going on it couldn't really have been a hallucination. If that was the case Hitoshi figured that the boy had saved him.

Looking a little closer this time he could clearly see him. He could clearly see the green curls that lay a top his head, green curls that looked just like Karma's when he saved him from the exact same situation 8 years ago.

Hitoshi meant to open his mouth and speak but ended up having a coughing fit instead. The boy who looked like Karma rushed off to get some water while the man who had calmed him down earlier went to kneel infront of him.

"Are you alright." Hitoshi blinks in suprise almost forgetting to answer, he nods. "Do you remember what happened before." Hitoshi vaguely could, most of how he'd ended up in an alleyway and got kidnapped was a blur but before that he remembered being at home and his muzzle being put on. So then how did he end up here.

"Vaguely." he says his voice scratchy and dry.

"I'm back." Running back into the room the green haired boy quickly hands Hitoshi the water who drank it all in one gulp. "Is that better." Hitoshi nods and the boy smiles.

"Where am I." Hitoshi asks as the boy goes to sit on the edge of the couch he's laying in.

"At my house." The man says. Properly taking the time to examine him now he could see the man was rather untidy and has messy black hair. Overall he just looked really tired, reminding Hitoshi of himself.

"Why am I at your house?" Hitoshi asks as he looks around again.

"You came across kidnappers so he saved you and brought you here so we could get the muzzle of you." The man points to the greenete who just smiles and waves.

"What about the unconscious kid?"

"Oh, I took them home." The boy says edging a little closer.

"Then why didn't you take me home?"

"So we could take off the muzzle, he just said that."

"But I could have taken it off at home."

"You had it on before the kidnapper attacked you." He says giving him an intimidating look that stopped Hitoshi from opening his mouth to argue back.

Hitoshi looks down to his lap and doesn't say anything for a while. Eventually the man sighs before crouching infront of Hitoshi again. "Look kid it was obvious you had the muzzle on for quite a while and we weren't going to risk taking you home to someone who could do something so cruel."

Hitoshi doesn't say anything and an awkward silence stretches out. Eventually though Hitoshi speaks.

"Thanks." He say. "For taking it off."

"Why'd they put it on you in the first place?" The greenete asks edging closer to him. It was surprising how quickly he could revert from intimidating to innocent.

Hitoshi didn't know whether it was a good idea to tell them or not but it's not like he even knew them. If they hated him and decided to kick him out of their house it wouldn't matter that much.

"It's cause of my quirk."

"Your quirk?" The boy repeats and Hitoshi nods. "What's your quirk?"

Hitoshi takes a deep breath before answering, "Brainwashing."

"Brainwashing, that's it." They boy says blinking in suprise. Hitoshi tilts his head in confusion. "That's why they put you in a muzzle?"

"People have to respond to what I say as a requirement."

"Yeah but still, putting a muzzle on you is way to extreme."

"It is?"

"Of course it is. If they're that scared of your quirk then they should just not answer you."

"If they're that scared of your quirk they should get a better education cause your quirk is extremely useful." The man says crossing his arms.

"Really?" The greenete nods enthusiastically. "So you don't think I have a villainous quirk."

"Is that what people say about your quirk?"

"There's no such thing as a villainous quirk, it's how you use it that makes it villainous." The man huffs looking clearly displeased, Hitoshiisn'tsure if he's upset at him or just upset in general.

"Right, your quirk is also perfect for hero work." Somehow now right next to Hitoshi the boy smiles.

"Really?"

"Of course." The boy starts listing reasons off his fingers."You can easily break up hostage situations and end fights before they even start, your quirk has so many possibilities."

Hitoshi just stares at the two speechless with tears in his eyes. "So, d-do you think I could become a hero." He asks hesitantly.

"Of course, why not. You'll make an amazing hero." The boy smiles enticing Hotoshi's lips to slightly curl upwards as well.

"Really." Hitoshi can feel a few tears trickling down his face but he doesn't stop them.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but if your gonna be a hero your going to have to work twice as hard as others."

"Huh." He turns to look at the scruffy man who's now standing next to him.

"You have a mental quirk like me, unlike people with physical quirks we need to learn how to fight and defend ourselves using our physical strength."

Hitoshi stays silent and just stares at the man.

"I'm pretty sure the UA exam or any exam for hero courses are bias towards people without physical quirks." The boy says.

"That's right, I've been trying to get principal Nezu to change the UA exams for years now but I haven't been successful."

"UA?"

"Aizawa is a teacher at UA." The boy says turning to Hitoshi cheerfully.

"Um, so your name is Aizawa."

"Right we haven't introduced ourselves yet have we. That's Shota Aizawa and you can just go ahead and call me Deku."

"Deku?" Hitoshi says looking kind of skeptical.

"It's what his boyfriend calls him." Aizawa chimes in as if that makes any difference.

"Why would your boyfriend call you useless?"

"Don't question it, it's not like he'll tell you his real name anyway."

Ignoring the hero Deku just smiles. "I'm fine with the name Deku."

"Yeah but that's an insult."

"It used to be but now things are different so if you want you can call me Deku but if you don't want to go ahead and call me whatever you want."

Hitoshi sighs. "No it's fine I'll call you Deku." Deku smiles wider causing Hitoshi to have to shield his eyes a little from the sheer brightness. "I'm Hitoshi Shinso."

"Nice to meet you Shinso-kun."

"You don't have to call me by my last name, I mean I'm calling you Deku so go ahead and call me Toshi for all I care."

"Okay then, Toshi it is then." Hitoshi smiles. "I would ask if that's what your friends call you but you don't have any do you." Deku mumbles to himself quietly, but clearly not quietly enough.

"That was uncalled for, how many more friends could you possibly have."

"No, no, I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that out loud." Deku waves his arms around in a panic while Hitoshi just sighs, dealing with this now would just make his head hurt.

"Aizawa." Hitoshi says turning to the man.

"What is it kid."

"You're a teacher at UA right." The man nods. "So do you think there's any chance of me getting in."

"I don't know, maybe." The man's immediate reply made Hotoshi's heart sink but not long later did Aizawa start talking again. "Like I said before I've been unsuccessful when it comes to changing the entrance exam, but maybe that could change if a very capable student ends up joining the hero course next year." Aizawa smirks.

"Who?" Hitoshi tilts his head in confusion.

"Oh wait," Deku jumps up just realising something. "Are you gonna train him?"

"Train me?"

"Why not, I mean that big idiot is training your even bigger of an idiot boyfriend."

"Kacchan isn't an idiot."

"Of course you'd say that, he's your boyfriend." Deku sticks his tongue out at him.

"You wouldn't like it if I said your husband was loud and tiring."

"But he is loud and tiring, I suffer through that all the time. Although your right that I don't like you saying it."

The two's banter continues for a while as Hitoshi just looks back and forth between them."Are you two related or something."

"Huh." Deku turns to face Hitoshi. "We're not related, what makes you think that."

"Ah, sorry it's just that you both seem rather close and know a lot about each other."

"Really, I've only known the kid for about 5 months now."

"Wait really. How did you even meet."

"The paedophile refused to leave when I was changing."

"Would you stop that, your giving him the wrong idea about me."

"So you didn't refuse to leave when he was changing." Hitoshi asks, too interested in the story of how they met to care about the image that gave Aizawa.

"I did refuse to leave but only because he would have ran away the moment that I did."

Hitoshi tilts his head in confusion. "And why was that a bad thing."

"Cause I'm Karma." Deku says blankly.

"Karma."

"I didn't expect you to tell him just like that."

"It's fine, Toshi seems trust worthy enough. You won't tell anyone will you Toshi." The intimidating smile is back. Was this really the boy who saved him all those years ago.

"Don't threaten the kid, your the one who told him out of nowhere so it'll be your fault if he tells anyone."

"I'm not threatening him"

"Then what's with your smile."

"What do you mean."

"Are you playing dumb or are you just never aware of how intimidating you can be."

"I don't know, maybe a little of both." Aizawa sighs clearly tired of everything.

He turns to the purple boy still sitting on the couch. "Your parents were the ones who put you in the muzzle correct." Hitoshi nods, a little confused on why he brought the subject back up so suddenly. "For how long?"

Hitoshi couldn't remember exactly but he knew that it had to have been a while. "It was after dinner, I was getting told off and I accidentally talked back, they thought I was trying to Brainwash them."

"That must have been a while ago. If you want then, you can stay with me here at my house and I'll do something about your parents. Putting a child in a muzzle is not okay."

"Wait what."

"Or would you prefer to go back to your house. I'll still do something about your parents, but I understand that I'm a stranger and me being a pro hero doesn't say very much."

"If it helps, Present Mic is his husband."

"Wait really, Present Mic has a husband."

Aizawa sighs. "Yeah he's my husband, he's on patrol right now so he should be back in an hour or two. So would you rather stay here or go back."

"They've probably noticed that I've gone already."

"That's not a problem I can deal with that."

"When you say you'll do something about them what do you mean."

"They'll lose the right to you for starters."

Hitoshi shakes his head. "That won't change anything. They're just my foster parents and I've been in foster care ever since I can remember."

"If they're your foster parents then they should especially not be putting you in a muzzle."

"It's a requirement. The care home will give the muzzle to anyone who fosters me."

"So then it's the care home that I need to deal with." Aizawa makes a mental note of that in his head. "That's fine, I'll find a way to remove the muzzle as a requirement and I'll make sure you find a new family that'll love and support you." Hitoshi could feel tears of joy pricking in his eyes for the second time that night.

"I'd like to stay here for the night, I can deal with my foster parents later."

Aizawa nods. "And you?" He says turning to Deku.

"I can stay too?"

"Were you considering leaving at this time of the night."

He shakes his head. "I'll stay."

Since the arrival of All Might crime rates have decreased significantly in Japan, but there's still one problem hero's are unable to do anything about. Corruption in the government has led to the increase of child trafficking, so much so that any child is lucky to not have been kidnapped by the age of 6.

What hero's are unable to do though is easily done by the vigilante Karma, a hero to the people. Unbound by the law he can freely try to put an end to this rein of terror, that is if he doesn't get caught.
